이 곡이 나온지 반년 정도가 지났다. 나는 흔히 말하는 "소리를 지르는" 음악을 이 곡으로 처음 접했다. 그 전에는 EDM이나 팝, 힙합을 자주 들었기에, 이 곡을 충분히 짜릿하고 충격적이라고 느꼈다. 이제 나는 좀 더 다양한 락 음악들을 듣고, 여전히 천천히 알아가는 중이다.
상당히 많은 사람들이 Bring me the horizon은 너무나 상업적인 방향으로 가고 있다고 비판하고, 락밴드가 아니라 팝을 하는 밴드에 가깝다고 말하며, 또 어떤 사람들은 이들의 데스코어 시절이 그립다고 말하는 것을 안다.
그러나 나는 Bring me the horizon의 새로운 도전과 다양성을 응원하고 싶다.
이제는 거의 20년 전 옛날 이야기가 되어버린 이들의 과거 스타일만을 그리워하기 보다는, 이들에게 다양하고 넓은 스펙트럼의 곡들을 기대해보는 것은 어떨까. 오히려 이런 곡들이 메탈을 듣지 않던 사람들과 메탈을 듣는 사람들 모두를 사로잡을 가능성이 무한한 곡이 아닐까 하는 생각도 든다.

Simply put, this is the worst BMTH album of all time. The entire track list is a slog, and the only songs with any sort of replay-ability are a few of the singles. As soon as I started the album, 'Dear Diary,' blasted my eardrums off. I got the feeling that it is the most similar to 'Crucify Me'. Nothing is better than biting off a beloved album from their past when a band is in creative cul-de-sac, right?
