Album of the day #4. Queensrÿche - Rage For Order
"Rage for Order" is Queensrÿche's second album, where the band boldly takes steps forward musically and explores new, more progressive directions. The album deserves praise especially for the fact that it does not repeat the formula of the debut, but the band dares to take risks and experiment with versatile arrangements, synthetic elements and futuristic aesthetics. For example, songs like "Walk in the Shadows" and "I Dream in Infrared" offer a dark-toned atmosphere that is a fascinating combination of metal and new wave.
Although the album contains a lot of interesting ideas and successful songs, its biggest weakness is unevenness. Some of the songs remain mediocre, and the whole is not up to the level of the debut or the later released "Operation: Mindcrime". As a whole, however, "Rage for Order" is a satisfying piece that shows Queensrÿche's desire to evolve and seek new dimensions in the field of progressive metal.
Climax: Walk In The Shadows, London
Anticlimax: Gonna Get Close To You, Chemical Youth (We Are Rebellion)

My most played album # 67. Queensryche - Rage for Order. The second studio album was released on June 27, 1986. Gold peaked at #47 on the charts. Many say this is the best Queensryche, hard to disagree such amazing guitar riffs, soaring vocals and amazing song writing! The album has the third highest rating on metal kingdom behind Operation: Mindcrime and The Verdict! Wow that new stuff is really great but better than Rage? Mmmm. My band used to play walk in the shadows, those were the days! Best songs? “Walk in the Shadows”, “The Whisper”, “The Killing Words”, “London” and “Screaming in Digital”.

An absolute masterpiece of early Progressive Metal. It was not what I was expecting, and it took time to grow on me, but the almost poppy melodies and choruses are melded perfectly into proggy metal passages and plenty of lush keys are interspersed throughout. Every song is fantastic, even that bizarre cover.

Nice heavy stuff, with meh melodic/lighter songs. The album layout itself needs a fix but the individual songs are greatly composed.
