'아시아 최초의 빌보드 진출 헤비메탈 밴드'라는 진부한 표현은 제쳐두고서라도 Loudness의 인기는 80년대 헤비메탈 씬의 선봉장 중 하나라 할 만큼 폭발적이었다는 것은 틀림없다. 1981년의 데뷔작 "Birthday Eve" 이후, 4집 "Disillusion"까지 지속적인 인기 상승을 꾀한 라우드니스는 Atlantic과 인연이 닿아 세계시장을 겨냥한 5집 음반인 "Thunder in the East"을 내놓는다. 기타리스트 Akira Takasaki의 중후한 리프 메이킹과 날렵한 속주, 보컬리스트 Minoru Niihara의 걸쭉한 보이스를 기반으로 힘차고 리드미컬하게 진행되는 8비트 메탈 사운드는 20년 가까이 지난 지금의 시점에서 들어도 촌스러움보다는 신선하게 다가오는 느낌이 지배적이다. Judas Priest 사운드의 아시아적인 해석이라고도 할 수 있는 본작이 당시 국내 락 음악계에 던진 파장은 상당했던 것으로 전해진다. 욱일기 커버 사용으로 인해 10점 감점.
