Secretpath is an Italian band labelled as Technical Death/Black Metal but there are a LOT of influences in these guys. They're formed in summer 2008 by Pierluigi "Aries" Ammirata and "Wanderer" is their second demo as an unsigned band.
The first track is called "Essence Of Chaos". It starts with a classical arpeggio followed by an unexpected change of rhythm. The sick drumming by Francesco "Storm" Borrelli is the fulcrum of the song. He covers all the spaces left by the excellent guitar picking of Pierluigi "Aries" Ammirata and the bass of Giovanni De Luca. Paolo " The Voices" Ferrante made an excellent work with is different styles of voicing.
The second track is "The Dark Forest Of My Insanity". It starts with an excellent guitar finger style followed by the perfect drumming. Here the voicing seems to be the core of the song. The instruments follows perfectly the different style of the vocalist Paolo " The Voices" Ferrante. There are also a lot of changes of rhythm which makes the song very interesting and gives to Giovanni De Luca the possibility to show us what he can do.
The third track is very different from the genre they're labelled. It's called "In Praecipiti Esse" and it's sing all in ancient latin with the technique of the basso profondo; here, Pierluigi "Aries" Ammirata, does a perfect guitar arpeggio guiding perfectly Paolo " The Voices" Ferrante.
The last but one track is "...And So I Return To The River". It's here that these guys show us what they can do. They start faster than hell with a perfect coordination between guitar and drumming. Paolo " The Voices" Ferrante does an excellent voicing passing from an extreme metal voice to a more basso sounds, without hesitation. The bass follows the other instruments not covering them, and come out only where there are spaces left.
The fifth, and last song, is called "I'm Your Guide". Here we can finally listen to a very good bass line. The drumming is really exhilarating and the guitar riffs, another time in finger style, are well executed by Pierluigi "Aries" Ammirata. It ends with a classical arpeggio as they started the album.
I, personally think they have the possibility to ruin the Italian, and not only the Italian, underground scene. Let's see what they deserve for us in the future!
