꼭 차가운 설산에서 온몸으로 눈보라를 맞아야만 한기체험을 할수있는건 아니다! 청각만으로도 충분히 그게 가능하다면 과장일까? 음악이란게 참으로 오묘하다. 가사와 악곡만으로도 무한한 상상력을 가능케하니 말이다. 시청각을 자극하는 영화와는 달리 오로지 청각에만 의지하기에 더욱 예민하게 전두엽을 자극해 또다른 나만의 공간을 창출한다. 다른장르도 마찬가지겠지만 특히나 블랙메탈에서 이런 특징이 두드러진다. 사악함으로 온몸을 뒤덮고 차가운 한기를 느끼기에 이보다 더한 도구가 있을까? 전작에서 이모틀만의 음악적 아이덴티티를 확립하지만 본작에서는 작정하고 빙하를 갈아마실 태세로 광폭함을 더한다. 시종일관 긁어대는 기타는 설원을 시원스레 달리는 썰매끝단에 매달린 아슬함을 선사하고 끝없이 짖누르는 드럼은 설상의 괴인이 무서운 기세로 나를 향해 쿵쿵거리며 돌진하는 스릴감을 만끽하게 해준다. 다람쥐 쳇바퀴 굴러가는 일상의 지루함을 씼어내는데 이보다 좋은 청량제는 없을것이다.

훌륭한 블랙메틀 앨범.
6곡 하나하나가 포스를 지니고 있음.
변화무쌍하고 빠른 곡전개가 앨범의 주를 이루고 있으며, 빠르게 진행되다가도 순간 조용하게 잠잠하게 있는 등 재미있는 구조로 되어있다. 곡 하나하나가 꽤나 길지만 이런 리프의 변화에 집중하여 듣고있으면 8분이고 6분... Read More

Wow! I know I’m in a crazy minority here, but I actually thought “Blizzard Beasts” was going to end up my favorite Immortal album. The way Immortal integrated twisted Death Metal riffs and more varied drumming into their wintry 2nd wave Black Metal formula worked very well for me. I was expecting a return to regular Black Metal with this album.
