"Stormbringer" is a worthy follow-up to Deep Purple's hit album "Burn". There are strong moments on the album, such as the title song "Stormbringer" and the beautiful "Soldier of Fortune", the whole is more uneven. Funk and soul influences bring in new tones, but at the same time they break up the unity of the album. "Stormbringer" is not a bad album, but it is clearly overshadowed by its predecessor and is a weaker work as a whole.

앨범 자체는 좋다. 하지만 마크3의 음악은 기존에 있던 장르의 공고함을 가져가는 느낌이라, 커버데일과 글렌의 합류는 양면의 날이라고 할 수 있다. 그렇더라도 앨범의 질이 떨어지는 것은 아니기에 충분히 구매 고려할만 하다. 결국 리치 블랙모어는 떠날 수 밖에 없어지만 말이다.

soldier of fortune의 추억이 있던 세대는 이 음반을 충분히 즐겼을 것 같지만, 동세대가 아닌 입장에선 굳이 이런 음악을 딥퍼플 앨범에서 들을 필요가 있나싶다. 개인적으로는 잘만든 팝음악 밴드의 작품같은 느낌이다.

솔직히 본작 이후의 딥퍼플은 잘 안듣습니다. 이들의 명곡으로 꼽히는 곡들이라면, 이전작들에서는 Child in Time, Smoke on the Water, Highway Star, Burn 등이 떠오르고, 본작의 Soldier of Fortune 도 널리 알려져있는데, 이 곡들의 공통점은 이외 대부분의 트랙들과 전혀 다른 분위기를 가져서 특출나게 튀는 곡들이라는 것입니다. 이외의 트랙들은 죄다 평범한 블루스록뿐입니다.

글렌휴즈의 영향력이 강해졌는지 딥퍼플치곤 다소 소울풀하면서 펑기한 느낌도 난다. 이때즈음에 리치가 탈퇴하고 레인보우를 결성한 걸 보면, 리치 입장에선 이 앨범이 영 아니올시다 였나보다 ^^;;

딥퍼플의 앨범들 중 라이브앨범을 제외하면 가장 많이 들었던 앨범이다. 리치의 딥퍼플의 느낌과 리치 탈퇴 후의 느낌이 절묘하게 배합되어 있는데 난 양자 모두를 좋아했기에 이 앨범을 가장 즐겨들었다.

1,5,9가 주요곡이고 개인적으로 2,3도 좋음. 특히 9는 7,80년대 한국팬들에게는 Highway Star나 Smoke On The Water보다 더 히트하지 않았나 생각이듬. 확인한건 아니지만 이승철이 부활 가입할때 오디션에서 부른 노래가 9였다는 이야기도 들었고
