4년 사이 무슨 일로 길을 바꾸게 되었는지 모르겠지만, 일단 이 데모는 우리가 아는 슈게이징 사운드라곤 전혀 찾아 볼 수 없는 로우한 블랙메탈이다. (아이러니하게도 난 이게 알세스트의 무슨 앨범보다도 좋다.) 녹음 상태가 심각하게 엉망이라 개별파트의 매력이 크게 와닿지는 못하지만 이들이 만들어낸 차가운 분위기는 매우 중독적이다. 우울한 멜로디를 뿜어내며 지글거리는 기타와 블래스트 비트, 시종일관 가래를 긁어대는 저음 스크리밍 보컬은 듣는 사람을 시무룩하게 만든다. 사실상 다른 노르웨이안 블랙메탈 앨범들 옆에 두어도 딱히 꿇릴게 없을 정도로 높은 퀄리티를 보여준다. 만약 이 리뷰를 읽고 있는 당신이 자살블랙을 좀 좋아한다면, 이 앨범은 충분히 들을 가치가 있다.

Track 1 had me doubting for a moment, but 2, 3, & 4 really had my blood pumping. Manual bass & treble knobs on a good stereo make it easy to get this demo into a listenable mode where you can actually discern the guitarwork. I would love to hear these re-recorded still. "Hey Grandma, you know that peaceful and sentimental Alcest music you like......."

알세스트가 나비로 변태하기 전 애벌레의 모습. 자켓에서 잘 드러나듯 춥고 거친 로블랙메탈이다. 낙후된 음질 사이로 들려오는 음악 자체는 수준급이다. 곳곳에 네이지의 감성도 느껴진다는.. 이 앨범은 이 앨범 나름대로 매력을 갖고 있다.
