Hypocrisy의 보컬인 Peter Tagtgren과 Katatonia의 멤버가 만난 스웨디시 데스메탈 밴드인 Bloodbath는 자국의 익스트림 씬에서 활동하는 유명한 뮤지션들이 모인 밴드로도 유명하다. 베이스를 맡고있는 Jonas Renske는 Katatonia의 프론트맨이자 만능 뮤지션이며, Anders Nystrom은 이 밴드에 둠 메탈적인 톤을 적용하여 유연한 완급조절을 해내고 있다. Dan Swano는 메탈 씬에서 상당한 영향력을 지닌 기타리스트이자 프로듀서이고, Martin Axenrot는 현재 Opeth의 드러머로 상당한 테크니션으로 알려져 있는 만큼 강렬한 블래스트 비트와 그루브가 넘치는 미들 템포를 자유자재로 구사한다. 일종의 드림팀과도 같은 이 제작진이 만들어낸 작품은 결코 퀄리티가 낮지 않다. 올드스쿨 데스메탈을 지향하면서도 독특한 매력을 풍기는데, 전통적인 데스메탈의 리프를 따라가면서도 개성있는 악곡 구성으로 청자를 사로잡는다. 1번트랙 Cancer of the Soul만 들어보아도 이들의 역량을 짐작할 수 있다. 너무나도 사악한 보컬과 짜임새 있고 쉽게 들리는 곡 구성, 기타의 낮고 음침한 톤과 베이스/드럼의 그루브까지. 트레몰로 리프로 곡을 전개하는 가운데 미들템포로의 전환을 꾀하기도 하는 Outnumbering The Day, 많은 팬들이 킬링트랙으로 꼽는 Eaten, 오프닝부터 강력한 스크리 ... nie je to zlé album, ale majú aj lepšie. Ako celok mi nesedí, v porovnaní s ostatnými radovkami kapely.

Opeth의 Mikael이 잠시 있었다는 말을 듣고 처음 접한, 정작 Mikael이 참여하지 않았던 Bloodbath의 2집. 그러나, Peter Tägtgren의 목소리는 Mikael보다 훨씬 좋았다. The Ascension과 Eaten에서의 분위기는 이 앨범의 가치를 드러낸다고 본다.

유명 메탈밴드Hypocrisy의 소속의 Peter Tägtgren가 참여해서 갓띵반을 만들어낸 역작. 이걸로 피바다도 메탈 역사에 남게 되었다. 특히 EATEN이 제일 킬링트랙 8번은 파멸의 강림을 제대로 느낄 수 있었고 7번은 조지기가 아주 개쩐다.

전작의 연장선이지만 이번에는 거대함과 웅장함으로 잡아 끄는게 더 부각된 엘범. 전작이 투박하고 묵직하게 때리는 맛이 있었다면 이번에는 좀더 정교하게 조지는 맛이 있습니다. 잠시 들어온 Peter Tägtgren 야성적인 보컬도 묵직한 미카엘의 보컬과 차별되는것이 있어 맘에 들고요.

양질의 데스메탈앨범. 불안하면서도 끈적이는 분위기가 일품이다.//+5점 추가해야겠다. 아무리 들어도 이번 신보도 좋았다곤 하지만 이 앨범이 Bloodbath 최고작인 것 같다. 보컬 영향이 큰 것 같다. 그리고 남들이 좋다는 eaten은 별로..
