My musical pick of the day. Also, those song titles are my literary pick of the day. What an interesting album cover, but I wish it was better executed. The whole thing is a hybrid of far-flung human cultures, and is probably immensely offensive to so many people - as all of we people deserve. Nov 10, 2023

There is some very high-quality post-black metal and atmospheric BM too on this album. However, there's a big rookie mistake; track 1 is an intro track, and track 2 starts with it's own kinda unnecessary intro. It would definitely be a higher score without that mistake considering how it dilutes the emotional impact. Nov 10, 2023

Beautifully harsh 90s BM sounds. Don't expect atmospheric, but this is a must-listen for everyone. Man, that guitar tone. It really made my morning. Nov 10, 2023

A bizarre mix of musical genres. I think this is a challenging album for almost any fan of any genre. You need some patience and then later on everything culminates with a huge payoff. My score is kind of a compromise. I can tell it's working well at any given moment, but it's very hard to decide how good it is as a whole unit. Anyway, Déhà always brings me on an adventure. Just discovering this band and I'm really glad I gave them a try. Please don't be turned off by some awkward screams early in the album; 99% of this album is very good music. The riffs are excellent throughout and the emotion is powerful and genuine. I had a very thrashy day today and Infernal Throne adds to the 2023's list of great thrash albums. Nov 9, 2023
Cosmicism 75/100
The 1st half of the album had mostly forced-sounding songs with weak unfeeling singing. Many of those tracks seem to end before accomplishing much even if the playing is rather technical. Later on the quality increases significantly (even Dave's singing). I especially liked Post American World and Conquer or Die! Very solid 2nd half. Nov 9, 2023

Old school sound, and overall it's good. Nov 9, 2023

A./Ayloss has a ton of projects. With this one he just changed styles to blackened thrash. Anyway it's very good in a gruff, surly, and burly kind of way. Have a seat with that knight on the cover and listen to the whole album; it's all well-played with strong emotion. Nov 9, 2023

Wonderful crossover thrash. My pick of the day. Also, the angles in that cover art convey a ton of action and feeling. Nov 9, 2023

I like this one slightly more than Coronet Juniper. On Longhena there is great variety in track lengths, and there are playful jumps to other types of slower music, but they feel like fitting contrasts. This whole thing is impressive and I can feel it giving me strength. Great job, Gridlink. Nov 7, 2023

Perfect production, generously thick atmosphere, & it's all done with an enthusiasm for the slam genre that I can clearly hear. This album is for when I'm in a very rare mood. However, I just love how all this stuff is so offensive to most people. Nov 7, 2023

Each song is burning with such a bright blue flame that everything in sight is singed pitch black. The vocals immensely powerful and the composition gives a real feeling of urgency. At times, the music gets about 40% to 45% toward depressive territory, but it's still decidedly on the atmospheric side. This is a great mode to be in. I've been trying argue myself out of giving it a perfect score, but I keep losing the argument. 100/100 it is. Nov 7, 2023

Each song achieves a great sound and it has good energy throughout. More variety in singing melody would make it better. Anyway, nothing is particularly bad, but I didn't feel any moment was great. Nov 7, 2023

Another well-known atmospheric BM releases a great album. This has been happening a lot in recent months. Anyway, these songs give a great feeling of conflict & danger through the western sound. Nov 7, 2023

First of all, "The breakdown goes boom" - seriously? That line sounded like a good idea in your heads, Amaranthe? Second of all, the ballad, Crystalline, is a little weaker than the other songs, especially in terms of tightness. Besides those 2 points, this album is pretty good. Nov 6, 2023

My pick of the day. An overall solid album rather close in style to the debut. Track 2, Punishment Nailed Deep particularly blew me away. I actually made a Farvann face, and I can't stop replaying the track. Thank you so much Faidra. Nov 6, 2023

A very dramatic feel to this 80s style heavy metal. I hear a lot of talk that it's W.A.S.P-worship. Though I don't know W.A.S.P's sound very well, I think all the talk is correct. Nov 6, 2023

I really loved the cavernous feel to this death doom. A little searching and we can find a great number of good doom bands. Nov 6, 2023

A good introduction to this band for me, I think. Heavy metal with strong 80s trademarks all mixed with the classic black metal that came after it in a much different market. Combine that weird combo with spooky undertones, and it's a really unique approach they have - definitely not sounding like anyone I can think of. Nov 6, 2023

Drums & vocals were recorded 7 years after the guitars? How is the result this beautiful? This one goes in a totally atmospheric direction, but in a frantic chaotic way. Also, the first part with clean guitars is wonderful in how it takes long enough to develop a mysterious creepy feeling into a dramatic movement. Super long and super powerful. Nov 3, 2023

I had an absolute blast. The songwriting is highly motivated and thoughtful. I feels like a live show, played with great timing to inject a sense of urgency to every melody. Nov 3, 2023

I'm very positive about this album. If he could write conclusions and stop all the fading out, I'd give it an 85 for sure. Next evolution would be more interesting percussion, but at this level it's still enjoyable with a great spooky and vampiric feel to it. Nov 3, 2023

Redoing old songs is cool only sometimes, including this because they're enjoyable. The style does feel a little more simple than most of their other stuff. I'll have to check out The New Reign, but this is good with some rebellious energy. Nov 3, 2023

Comfy synth can be great. I think this would be better with a few more original tracks. Just 6 originals and 2 remixes doesn't give me enough. A lot of these tracks are as nice and magical as the Slumbering Sounds of the Frog Fellowship album. Nov 3, 2023
Cosmicism 95/100
Extremely evocative short songs, and I keep finding more depth and nuance the more I listen to them. There's a lot of tracks that start off with a somewhat gothic synth / new wave part, and then keep that driving beat throughout the sludgy vocals and hardcore guitarwork or some other arrangement of these elements. Here I discover another band that has been doing very interesting things I now want to hear more of. Nov 2, 2023

Can we all hope one day that Gru records another album? Anyway, this one gorgeous and it gets my mind working fast. I love every second of it. Nov 2, 2023

Amazing instrumentation that must be both physically and cognitively demanding. The amazing part is how thick the spooky atmosphere is at the same time. For me it was a splendid introduction to the band. Nov 2, 2023

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
