It has a pretty & soothing sound and the gothic beats work very well. It felt just a little corny at times. Overall good. Dec 18, 2022

Solid album with a straight up 90s sound. I like the whole album. Nothing bad but nothing top tier for me. Also, it's much better than that cover art. Dec 18, 2022

I was disappointed with this EP. It's still so-so, but their later releases are so much better in every way. Following Ivy suffers by sounding like metalcore; the vocals are vomit, and the heaviness is more annoying, and not invigorating like their other releases. I don't enough fun complicated djent. It's their, but usually they cram in more. I guess this is for metalcore people. Dec 18, 2022

I love this album, but it's absolutely not for everyone. It's harsh & jarring. It's like they took a time machine and hung out with The Who and Led Zeppelin as they were writing those early 70s songs that verge on metal, except Boris warped them into something weird with disturbing saxophone. Later in the album it's more stoner, sludge, and then extremely punky. What a wild ride. Dec 18, 2022

Cool music. It's very playful and he really commits to the alien theme. This album sounds like it could be the score to a really unnerving sci-fi movie, and played like that for 10 or 15 minutes at a time without much fading out or cutting out. It looks like this artist has a bunch of one-man-bands. I'll check them out some day. Dec 18, 2022

Totally mesmerizing. What I learned is that Christian Death is not death metal. Also, they're not metal. For me it's one of those names I heard decades ago, but never heard the music. Anyway, I bet a lot of the best gothic metal bands listen to this album often. It's beautiful. Dec 18, 2022

Death metal album of 2022 for me, even though Exocrine's album is more my style. 劇變 is played with total precision, and I loved every second of it. It's as heavy as anyone could ask for. I did not expect I was going to love it this much; I thought I was listening just to find out what other people are talking about. Congrats to Ripped to Shreds. Dec 18, 2022

I really love each song's sound. I think the compositions and structure could improve and get more imaginative. Overall good quality & it's nice and soothing atmospheric BM. Dec 18, 2022

Great sunny feeling to these awesome bluesy stoner riffs. They channel the feel of the 70s without being retro or phony. It makes me want to play it repeatedly and I get more & more into it. Also, the band says they're giving all money from sales to support volunteers in Ukraine. They have all my respect. Dec 18, 2022

This is a truly wonderful album with highly charged melodies. These guys have complete control over the feelings they imbue the songs with, and this shows in the quality. It's great black metal, and at some parts they even wander into Joy Division territory. A real highlight of 2022. Dec 15, 2022

Great consistent sound to this record, but it has just enough variety in song structure and melody to make it work from start to finish. Actually, it's a very commercial sound, but in a fun way. Also, I think the singer is more or less rapping a lot, in case that matters to you. If that's no problem, then I recommend it. Dec 15, 2022

I really loved the evil and dangerous mood of this highly impassioned album. I picture dark caverns and stone halls with some smoke in the air. This is blackened thrash that makes me really love the genre - much more than that Deströyer 666 album from this year. Dec 15, 2022

This album's stellar reputation and that extremely evocative cover had me wondering if it could live up to the hype, For me it did; everything about it is great! Dec 15, 2022

This one starts off so heavy and angry, but soon it drops the anger and keeps 100% of the heaviness. That's where I started really loving it. Nice and hypnotic grooves. Dec 15, 2022

This sounds like a fat man in leather with a beard who is about to punch another man who looks pretty similar, and they're in a dark bar. Anyway, it's good & bluesy, with some influence from Clutch I bet. These guys are pretty well established, so I'll try their other albums. Dec 15, 2022

Good but not great. Did you ever notice me mentioning that enormous horde of good atmospheric releases from 2021? I remembered liking this one, but couldn't remember what it sounded like. Some good dungeon synth for variety. Not as good as their 2022 release but definitely worth a listen. Dec 15, 2022

I wanted a straight up drone album, and it just happened there's a brand new one from boris. Well, they actually put out 17 billion releases a year... Anyway, I was feeling it the whole time and my mood improved quite a bit in the process. Definitely only if you like drone, but I recommend it. Dec 15, 2022

7 good and enjoyable songs. Ash, track 7, is totally top-tier though. It's extremely memorable, and I still just want to keep hearing it after 10 months. One of the best songs of this year. Dec 13, 2022

2 albums in 2022! Hail Geistlicht. This one I liked a slight bit better. Also, recognize this artist for being brave enough to take that photo of a Pillager Mansion for this album cover. Dec 12, 2022

Top-tier singing and mostly well-composed songs. It's metal, but it sounds like it's safe to listen to this around grandmas and the general public. I'm kinda worried somebody might see me listening to this. How will my reputation recover? Dec 10, 2022

Really heart-wrenching melancholic black metal. I loved every song. Also, this is a brand-spanking new artist. Dec 10, 2022

An album of covers and reworked previous material is a recipe for awkward songs that don't work as well as the originals. Passive, the one original song is the best on the album. Imagine & People are People are okay. Dec 10, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
