The 1st half of this album is so full of energy & charisma. The 2nd half didn't impress me as much. Also a warning. The intro to this album is not good for an office job. XD Nov 10, 2022

My favorite from these guys so far. The deep sadness is exquisite, but there's more monstrous death doom on this one, but that stuff is great too, and don't let me mislead, it stays on plodding funeral rhythms. Nov 10, 2022
Cosmicism 90/100
This starts off with atmospheric black metal, then directly goes into just about half of the metal sub-genres that exist. I think the 2nd track is even groove metal with some death metal influence. Impressively, each style is performed with genuine passion for it, and it's all executed well. Highly recommended to metalheads. Nov 10, 2022

These killer riffs are so fuzzy they might perm your hair. It's more stoner than doom. If that's fine with you, then definitely give this one a try. Nov 10, 2022

Good doom, with some very creative drumming parts. Actually, all the aspects of this album are nice, but I feel they could've tinkered with exactly how to play it, and then it would have an even bigger impact. Nov 9, 2022
Cosmicism 85/100
Some really groovy movements, and it incorporates a shredding sound uncommon in black metal. These guys have their own style, and here they've made a nice unnerving album. Nov 9, 2022

Impressive, unique, and very well executed. I heard these guys earned their reputation for blackened thrash. This album has such an interesting blend of genres. To a lesser extent, you'll hear prog, post-metal, heavy metal, metalcore, & even a little death metal mixed in. Respect to these guys for putting in all their favorite parts of their favorite genres, and the album cover is friggin cool. Nov 8, 2022

Either their best or in the top 3 for the Wolves! Female vocals, Drudkh influence, 2nd wave Norwegian influence, tolling bells, & blasts of harshness like the blowing of a destructive wind make this one of those perfect atmospheric black metal albums. Nov 8, 2022

For some unknown reason the album title really appealed to me. This music is very good for increasing your libido for everyone's shared goal of breeding the demonic army for world domination. The downside is that, after listening to this black metal with evil organ playing, you might crave Count Chocula, which is unhealthy. Nov 6, 2022

I really enjoyed this djent album. The song 'Dreamer' has some emo-sounding vocals that make me cringe a little, but it's a little flaw for an album packed with inspiration. Nov 6, 2022

Soaring beautiful melodies with prog complexity. 95% of the time it avoids sounding corny, which is a commendable feat. Nov 6, 2022

Impressively thick sound with a surly feel. Nov 6, 2022

I was instantly swept away into a fog and floated for 37 minutes. When it ended I was surprised so much time had passed. Also gravity existed again at that point. Nov 6, 2022
Cosmicism 85/100
For the first half of the album I felt most songs were just so-so, but I really liked most of the songs on the 2nd half, where the melodies were a lot more interesting. It turned out to be a very nice mix of 90s and early 2000s influences. Nov 6, 2022

Cult of Fire deserve their name. The burning passion on this short EP is astounding. It starts off sounding kinda pagan to me, and the 2nd track is textbook atmospheric black metal done to perfection. What a band. Nov 4, 2022

I was totally cheered up by the rich industrial soundscape and energetic instrumentation on this one. It was also fun to discover how lighthearted the songwriting felt and how that makes the short track lengths more fitting, which I was guessing were going to be a negative for me. Great album. Enjoyably dark & airy atmosphere and great driving beats. A little here & there, I don't like the singer's approach though he is rather accomplished. Also, I was very happy to hear gothic metal that's not a hybrid with another sub-genre. Overall, it's a very high quality album. Nov 4, 2022

Incredible! It's a very long album with tons of slow music, and it never loses energy. It totally changed the way the world around me looked. Respect to Esoteric. Nov 4, 2022

Overall enjoyable and quite a journey. The metalcore moments and some of the singing diminish my enjoyment, but I'm guessing that, for metalcore fans, this stuff is well executed. The progressive & djent are the reasons I listened, and Augment delivered some great music in those genres. Nov 4, 2022

This is a solid straight black metal album / all the songs on it are good. Nov 3, 2022

Awesome album! It's often very bluesy, and draws from classic rock, but I even hear some Koяn influence. This is a very fresh take on rock and metal, and the instrumentation is electrifying. Nov 3, 2022

Very solid album, perfectly blended combination of all the most foundational black metal bands. Nov 3, 2022
Cosmicism 90/100
Gorgeous and epic with a film-score style. At parts it's just symphonic music with harsh vocals. Where it goes full metal, I find it Burzum-style, but even better. I remembered liking it when it was new, today I listened again, and love it even more. Nov 3, 2022

Incredible album with the most intense & moving sense of nostalgia I've ever heard. After the midpoint it also gets vicious and evil as you could imagine. Not to be missed. Nov 3, 2022

This album has some real energy and passion to it, with good vocals. Though some other albums are just average for me, I'm glad I gave Kalmankantaja another try. Nov 2, 2022

Solid album that is 100% in 2nd wave mode. I also really like the title of track 9 for some reason. Hail Cthulhu. Nov 2, 2022

Nice cold & evil on this, and yet another very good black metal band I learn of here. How many million German BM bands have released something in 2022? Nov 2, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
