Riff ecstasy and great great songwriting. I like the vocals' style, but I think he should perfect his technique a little more. Some critics are really against intros, but they haven't heard this intro. I was laughing and howling and shaking with joy. Best. Intro. Ever. Oct 18, 2022

Throat singing with stoner doom? Yes please. It's really bluesy and dank and psychedelic, and then it shifts to Sleep worship. All good things from this brand spanking new artist. Oct 18, 2022

Best yet from Durbatuluk. This exceeded my expectations and I expected good. Farvanns vocals surprised me with their quality and their fiery power. Hymir laid down some monstrous drumming on this album, and please note his performance on one of the best releases of 2021 - Sickle of Dust's album. Everything about this Durbatuluk album makes me super happy, even that album cover, which I find just perfect. Oct 18, 2022

I really love Venerate Me and think it's a highlight of 2022. No other song on this album is anywhere near as good as that though. Most songs are similar sonically, and even go on and on about the same lyrics and themes. Production & proficiency are great, but some parts don't make me feel any passion. A real mixed bag for me. Based on the album cover, it's exactly as I wanted it to sound. Also, track 6 is a classical instrumental that I surprisingly enjoyed and is a perfect outro to match with the album as a whole. I think it's a debut and therefore many congratulations are due the artist. Oct 16, 2022

By the way, the title is Greek for eidolon. Also the artist calls this music 'underwater black metal'. That's so unique and so fitting for it's wonderful sound, reverberating deep feelings. Highly recommended for anyone who doesn't need the same old same old. Oct 16, 2022

Feeling spiteful? This album is a perfect match for your mood. I'm not crazy about the vocals, but all instruments and songwriting too are rather high tier. Respect to these blackened death metal veterans. Oct 16, 2022

It's overwhelming how much great music is on this huge album. So close to a perfect score. Songwriting here is just a little less expert than on Omega in my opinion. Anyway, Epica is definitely what all symphonic metal bands should look up to. Oct 16, 2022

I like this one a lot more than his 2018 and 2022 releases. Anyway Rémi, please keep producing music; someday you'll do even better than this monstrously enjoyable album. Oct 16, 2022

I get the feeling this music makes a mockery of your emotions. I don't know if that's what depressive fans like. However, the guitar work sounds very articulate to me, so I think this is well played, just not for everyone. Oct 15, 2022

The best I've heard from Nostalghia yet. So extremely dramatic in feeling. At some points it works in some straight jazz naturally & effectively. The sax is a real highlight, but mostly this is a collection of pure genius songwriting. A+ Oct 15, 2022

It almost breaks the rules of quantum physics how the stunning climaxes come again and again. This album is everything: cold, evil, head-bopping, & full of attitude. Also, there're some top-tier solos on it. Yes it's in a deeply melodic style, but also feels kinda pagan in some melodies, and has some folky parts that integrate into the metal perfectly. Some of us might be suspicious of all those short interludes because they usually detract from an album, but they don't here. Oct 15, 2022

Dank sludge with nasty guitar tones. It also gets all bluesy at times. Very solid album. Oct 14, 2022

A very good album for astral projecting. Influences seem to be Dark Space and Lustre. This one put me in a zone, and I enjoyed it a whole bunch. Oct 14, 2022

I really liked it, and toward the end of the album I totally loved it. Oct 14, 2022

Overall this is great. The 1st track had me worried that it was going to be an album of stuff I don't like, but starting with track 2 it's all good. I like how it has some mellow intros with clean guitars and all, but then the heaviness kicks right in. No boring ballads on this great album. Oct 14, 2022

These guys have a very good sound, and you can hear how pro these musicians are. Unfortunately, I keep just starting to get into a song and then it ends or, even worse, fades out. If it's not just me, they would benefit from critiquing their compositions more. Here's to hoping the next one will realize their full potential. Oct 14, 2022

So many black metal projects from Greece this year, especially atmospheric ones, especially ones that are new to me. Few are as captivating as the awesome, often spooky, atmospheres of this album. Also, it goes out on a triumphant yet terrifying song that wraps things up with top-notch showmanship. Oct 14, 2022

Passionate and awesome. Stylistically, it's not as post as some of his other music. There's some straight black metal on here too. Also, I'll understand if you're not reading this comment because you're just staring at the album cover. Oct 14, 2022

Holy cow, I really loved this one. ... even more than Monotony Fields. The mood is incredible. Also, I thought it was cool how they broke right into a driving beat for one song. Overall, masterful funeral doom. Oct 13, 2022

Style-wise, this one's more focused on post-black metal, seeing as it very often shifts into other genres of music. At one point it even sounds like A Perfect Circle. It's good, but I recommend starting with his other more powerful albums. Oct 13, 2022

Compared to Panzer Division, I like everything more on Opus Nocturne: the riffs, the vocals, the guitar sound, the songwriting. Maybe demonic rituals as a sound is more enjoyable for me than a war theme. Anyway, I really love this album. Oct 13, 2022

For me, it starts with a song of super high caliber. Then the songs in the middle slip down to simply good or so-so. Luckily it closes with a song that moves me every bit as much as track 1. It's definitely worth listening to again many times due to the excellent bookends. Oct 12, 2022

This is a wonderful murky swamp to sink into. It's just their demo, so I'm hoping for true greatness soon from these guys. Oct 12, 2022

Well played and it's high-quality songwriting with demonic vocals. I'm very close to giving it a score of 90, but just not close enough by the tiniest bit. Also, respect is due to this one-man band: he sounds like a 3 or 4 person group that practices a lot. Oct 12, 2022
Cosmicism 90/100
This was a real treat. I loved how on the title track it goes into the same metalcore breakdowns all bands do, and then it switches right into Ice Nine Kill's awesome signature sound, replete with that super theatrical feel. It's not all great, but I didn't dislike anything. The title track, Funeral Derangements, and Farewell II Flesh are pure gold. Oct 12, 2022

The heaviness of this one just envelopes me. Overall good with no particular downsides. A great sound to the recording, and it's also slightly symphonic at some places. Oct 12, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
