I thought it was going to be mediocre based on the album cover. Good news that I was wrong. This is another great release from one of Victoria Hazemaze's projects in 2022. This one is super dreamy post rock and atmospheric black metal, and rather depressive and melancholic, and it's done very well. Jul 27, 2022

Is furious frantic old school black metal what you're looking for? This one is a very energetic example of that. Jul 27, 2022

I find it more impressive than enjoyable. Depending on the track, I like or dislike the singing. Also, I can't shake the feeling that I'm watching an intro to some anime. Maybe I should recommend this one just for fans of Japanese metal. Jul 27, 2022

Complete djent paradise forms around you when you play this album. There are so many top-tier songs on this one, but Monomyth is the absolute greatest, and definitely one of the best songs of 2022. Jul 26, 2022

Good dependable black metal. There's nothing bad here; I just didn't fall in love with any part in particular. The only negative thing I can say is that it didn't live up to its extremely inspiring album cover. Jul 26, 2022

I loved every second of this awesome album. Crypta sounds more influenced by Death than by death metal, which is great in my book because it helps set their high standards for music with tons of feeling and technicality. Also, this album has some influences that are outside of death metal, such as some blackened parts. Crypta is more focused on great music than they are on obeying the genre. Another great choice by them. Jul 26, 2022

Mostly softer than I expected. Some parts get a little doom-laden, but mostly it's bluesy rock. The songs are good though. Their rendition of House of the Rising Sun is good too, but I wish they would skip it. I just don't need more and more covers of that song. Jul 26, 2022

High quality songs from start to finish. Wake manages to have its own signature style while also fully achieving the awesome yet grim blackened death metal sound. Great album for transporting you deep into your thoughts. Recommended for all metal fans. Jul 26, 2022

Creepy and weird in the beginning. Later there's a lot of jazz and film score sounding stuff. These different genres don't work together so well on this album. Also, the jazzy stuff doesn't do it for me. Worth a listen for the metal parts. Jul 23, 2022

Very nice variety, alternating and blending aggression with mournfulness. Some faster parts are downright fun. A Cruel Taste of Winter totally blew me away. Jul 23, 2022

Very atmospheric. It's Zemou Zabudnutia from 2007 with more instruments added in. I don't know about the 2007 version, but the 2022 one is pleasing and extremely listenable. Now I want to check out Igric's other projects. Jul 23, 2022

The beautiful music lulled me into a sleepy state and then shook me awake with frightening metal. For me this is one of the best examples of why modern doom is so great. Jul 22, 2022

Well-played album with good atmosphere and melancholy in some of the melodies. A little folky here and there. The album cover can cool down a hot summer day. Jul 21, 2022

Fun, fun. & fun. It made me one happy dude. Police Cruiser is the most memorable; please guess why if you haven't listened yet. Surgeon General's warning: not guessing correctly will end with you slapping your forehead when the song starts. You've been warned. Jul 21, 2022

I thought I'd chosen an Exocrine album. It was surprising the style was pretty different. The level of quality was what I was expecting. This has a very crunchy guitar sound and everything else is good too. For tech death, I didn't expect it to have so much atmosphere, but it did. A very good completely consistent in quality. Thank you Xenobiotic for bumping into me. Jul 21, 2022

Good blackened death metal. It's like De Mysteriis Dom Deathanas, but maybe you figured that out from the cover artwork. Anyway, solid sinister music on this one. Jul 21, 2022

This is the album that impressed me today. From the first seconds I heard death metal, then I heard black metal, then I was happy. After that it was time to recognize how skilled they all are. Great album. Worth the buzz it had back in June. Jul 21, 2022

A mix of very good songs and top-tier songs. The second disc is not as impressive for me, but the 3rd disc just floored me and the time flew by so fast. When Swallow the Sun goes into heavy doom mode, they bring the ruckus for real. Jul 21, 2022

Good and soothing with very positive vibes. Less metal than Groping in a Misty Spread; just keep that in mind. Every song is really quality, but the title track is more of just a little interesting thing at the end. All in all, easy to recommend. Jul 21, 2022

These guys have been around a while, and it shows in the musicianship. For melodic, I wish the songwriting was richer with melody instead of speed and aggression. I'm not so crazy about the singing. The solos are really great though. Overall, enjoyable but I didn't totally love it. Jul 21, 2022

So you're the owner of a cafe where the customers get to sacrifice a goat and summon a demon for someone to chat with over coffee? You needed something to play on the cafe's stereo? Well, you're in luck. Here's a pleasant album that delights in evil ritualistic sounds. It has some symphonic elements in some places, and icy dramatic guitarwork. It won't disappoint. Jul 20, 2022

Of their full-lengths, everything is good including this one. I guess Marras is their masterpiece, but I hope they aim to surpass it next time. This one is totally evil, and pretty lo-fi, even brutal at some parts. Great riffage too. More please. Jul 20, 2022

There's some cool djent on this album. I don't think the different elements come together in a very good way, so the compositions don't work for me as well as they do when I listen to a band like TesseracT. Maybe it's more of a matter of preference, but I can't enjoy it as much as some of you guys do. Jul 20, 2022

For this one, he gives us more of a straight black metal sound. Full of good evil feelings. Overall, almost as good as his 2021 album. Jul 20, 2022

For me, this album was all about the grooves. Overall good but not their best. Jul 19, 2022

I was surprised at how good it was. Some really nice guitar solos on this one. Also, this album showed me how metalcore breakdowns are kinda similar to fast djent guitarwork, because here you can hear the different gradients between those 2 techinques. Definitely a great album. Jul 19, 2022

This album blew my mind and had me squirming in my seat. Toward the end of the album, the songs start be a little less amazing, but still great by the standards of most bands. Jul 19, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
