Get into the groove and the beat while feeling the pain & despair of the vocals. It's a solid 25 minutes, and I'm thankful that the depressive stuff is worked in without doing too much or sounding embarrassing. Jul 5, 2022

I can feel the effort that went into this, and it makes it a good listen. Also, it's quite Agalloch . Well, that's a great band to emulate. Jul 4, 2022

The whole thing was energized and interesting. At points it's close to thrash and heavy metal, and a few songs have some blackened parts. I think more bands with singers should just write an instrumental album more often. Jul 4, 2022

Great progressive, and very djenty. Similar to TesseracT. The world needs another album from these guys. Jul 4, 2022

The same concept as the Περσεφόνη EP, but not as powerful for me. It's still pretty and spooky. If you're wondering, the title Αγγελος is Aggelos, which unsurprisingly means Angel. Jul 4, 2022

Very very very very very very raw. Also it is raw. This is not for everyone, but its dark foreboding mood is breathtaking. Recently I heard Kvad's 2022 album and I thought, 'This is not the right way to make raw work.' Transcending Rites has the right way. Jul 4, 2022

The Mexican-Australian duo play some blackened death metal here. The drums are nice and intricate, and Victoria proves she can growl like a beast. Jul 3, 2022

Vicious music here. The album cover is surely giving you the wrong idea. The title is too. This is 26 minutes of pure wailing ecstasy. It's a little post, but post never writhes in this much searing pain. Also, it goes to 80s new wave at one point, sounding like it's from London, but it still feels right, proving the musical genius. This album ends too quickly, and then the play button doesn't work soon enough. Jul 3, 2022

Beautiful with masterful playing as usual for Déhà. Surprisingly catchy for blackened doom metal. At times I'm wondering if some parts are post-black metal or melancholic metal blended in. Whatever you feel about the sub-genre, the sadness and pain in on full blast here and it's amazing. Jul 3, 2022

Great progressive djent. This album has a subdued slower part in the middle, which might be a minus for some of us. The album goes out in beautiful style, with this plodding yet triumphant yet sad movement. This is a good one for us fans of instrumental djent. Jul 2, 2022

It's a good album with a few standout moments. I found the last track to end in the most spectacular way that made me think, 'This is why doom exists!' This is their first album very early in their career, which already has a bunch of very good albums at nine years as I write this. Jul 2, 2022

You're guessing it's kinda like Darkspace because of the covert art, and you're right. You're also guessing it's done extremely well with the unique personal sound of this artist because you noticed this is a project by Severoth. You're right again. You're so great at guessing. I'm really proud of you. Jul 1, 2022

The atmosphere seeps up from the decaying pieces of dead plants and mold and fills between your eyelids and your eyes with the sense of nasty murderous ghost stories told by people starting nobody knows when. Jun 30, 2022

When I listened to their extremely atmospheric, raw, and evil 1st album in 2021, I definitely did not think they needed to increase the evil feeling even 1 percent. Then, they released this album, which is astoundingly more evil still, and I love it even more. Be warned though, raw means lo-fi. In other words, intentional fuzz. If you're like me you'll love it like that. Jun 30, 2022

I think when he recorded this album he really had good inspiration and he really could feel there was a way to make it work well. Inspired by his time in the wilderness, he made a great album to begin this project with. Out of the first 2 albums, they have just enough difference in character to make them distinct for the listener, and they're both just as good, Jun 30, 2022

I got my energized heavy feeling from listening to this. I also got the 'just visiting' feeling that I'll probably just try it this one time. Maybe Deterioration of Minds is more for people who are really focused on death metal. Jun 30, 2022

A big mix of very strong points and annoying weak points. Bad first, the album cover is cringeworthy and I think you can figure out why. The drums are recorded not so great. There's way too much narration and extra stuff after each song. Good stuff includes guitar solos, singing, and symphonic arrangement. I'm glad these guys like their own style, and they used their style much better on their 2022 album. Jun 30, 2022

Really great way to combine clean and harsh sounds on this album. Maybe this is where Caladan Brood got some of their inspiration. Anyway, very enjoyable album. Jun 29, 2022

Their bandcamp says they've all been in black metal bands for many years, and from the 1st second to the last of this album it sounds exactly like that, like the true veterans using their experience to make the genre as powerful as they can. They identify their music simply as black metal, but some songs have some rich atmosphere, and others are super melodic. No need to squabble about sub-genres, it's all great music. Jun 29, 2022

Oh yeah. It's time to mosh on a wintry mountainside. Like the inverse function of Owls Woods Graves, and it's blood boiling. Punks & black metal freaks need to hang out and listen to this. Jun 29, 2022

Mind you, the crust punk element is still in this album, but kinda diminished. Anyway, the percentages in the mix changed, but with this 2021 album, their quality is still there. This is beautifully melodic with that rebellious real-working-people feel especially in the drums. Fantastic album. Jun 29, 2022

This is my kind of tech death. It's also my kind of prog. Apparently these Frenchmen were tuned into my kind of everything because they made a whole album of it, all the way to the cover art. The recording has nice thick guitars with a rich stack of layers of sound. Whereas their 2020 album is one I appreciate as good but for death metal guys more than me, this time I just plain love the album. Energy, intricacy, beauty & the beast - all awesome. Jun 29, 2022

The songs build up so nicely, and once you're in the thick of it, there are so many emotions coming through all at once with some apparent, and others effecting you covertly. There's a lot of nostalgia, despair, regret, anger, and bravery, but there's a deep sadness that's usually hiding in the doom genre. This album also gets an A+ for sound, just raw enough. Beautiful album. Jun 28, 2022

Pretty dank and nasty. Every song is good, but I only really loved the last track. These guys have been around a long time, so respect for that. Jun 28, 2022

For me, every song starts off sounding like it's going to be great, but it never fulfills that. By the end of the album, I figured out that I just don't like the singing melodies. The singers are good, but I didn't like the melodies they wrote for the singing. Jun 28, 2022

Another very good atmospheric black metal release from a new project. This guy has been in other bands though. Anyway, stylewise it's post and a little blackgaze but in an Alcest way instead of a Deafheaven way. Also, usually somber piano-only tracks at the end are the low point, here it's one of the high points. Jun 27, 2022

To be honest, I totally love the all the Paysage d'Hiver kind of stuff in the first half of the album. The ambient stuff on the 2nd half is pretty good, not as bad as Burzum, but if I play this album my motivation is to hear the atmospheric black metal, and maybe skip the other stuff. Jun 26, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024
