Metal Addiction 75/100
It is a good release with plenty of modern hardcore influences. The massive energy with awesome musical arrangements sounds exhilarating to a certain extent, but cannot deliver this power until the end of the album. But it is an impressive album, considering it is the band's full-length debut release. This album definitely makes me anticipate their next step. Jul 4, 2023
Metal Addiction 90/100
It is not an easy album to affix to a genre label. This release is so experimental in a blackened way. Each of the four tracks is at least 15 minutes long and is a complex self-contained musical universe in itself, based on a raw melodic and ritualistic black metal foundation, on which atmosphere and mood build through repetition, with elements from other genres being added in a sparing way that complements the dominant black metal genre. It is a fantastic album overall. Jul 4, 2023
Metal Addiction 70/100
This album has failed to successfully inherit the virtues of the band's previous effort. The heaviness of this album is the only musical aspect that I appreciate. I do not mean that it is a bad release. The album itself is just a normal album, but it falls short of the last album in every musical sense. In short, it is a huge bummer, considering the band's achievement in the previous work. Jul 4, 2023
Metal Addiction 70/100
It is a more psychedelic and softer prog release than the band's previous effort. There are some stylistic changes built upon the band's musical virtues. In short, this EP sounds like a musical link between their last album to the one that they will produce next. Jul 4, 2023
Metal Addiction 80/100
It is a tasteful prog-metal album that does not brag about an insane level of technicality. This album may not excite an instantaneous emotional connection to your heart due to the lack of hooks. But the arrangement to make a good musical melange leads to the smooth instrumental transition between the parts of each track, which is jubilant to listen to. Jul 4, 2023

To be honest, I have no idea why a metal conglomerate like Metal Blade Records is backing up this band. I do not think they embody the attractiveness of metalcore enough in this album. It is too bouncy with high-octane melodies that need to be sedated with a lethal dose of Procaine. Those who are a fan of Protest the Hero or While She Sleeps might appreciate this release, but it is not an attractive album to my taste. Jun 29, 2023
Metal Addiction 80/100
This album is a good chaotic and dissonant work for those who seek the masterful balance of depression and ravishment. It contains an ugly, angry, and tortured slew of sounds which is crafted by a genre-bending mixture of varied musical elements that try to strain the listener in various and bittersweet ways. Metal Addiction 95/100
This album is the apex of experimentation for ultimate dissonance in metal. It is also a poetic masterpiece of fractal depth and detail as well. All forms of corruption such as poverty, intolerance and pollution are beautifully fused in the lyrics of this opus. It is near perfection in terms of structure too. Pyrrhon's calibre to control the dissonance among the varied musical features is astonishing. To conclude, it is a stellar piece of metallic art. Jun 28, 2023

The Alps quintet has come back with an ambitious heavy metal release. The repetitive riff structures and the simple rhythm patterns make this album sound monotonous but easy to grasp. The album's first half sounds lethargic, but the rest sounds somewhat energetic. The lack of originality is a bummer even though the album sounds positive by and large. If you would like to feel the female-fronted version of W.A.S.P., this album is for you. Jun 28, 2023
Metal Addiction 80/100
Mayhem-esque sound crafted by a great musicianship is stunning. The atmosphere of the maelstrom that triggers bloodlust has been well-depicted through the instrumentation played with sophisticated finesse. In short, there is no denying that it is a good death metal release. Jun 28, 2023

It is an unsuccessful debut as a newcomer to the scene. The only interesting feature of this album is the lyrics inspired by Tolkien's novels about dwarves. Songwriting-wise, the band seems to mimic the musical style of Amon Amarth or Finntroll. But they failed to establish their own style, resulting in making them look like another copycat of those bands. Jun 28, 2023
Metal Addiction 70/100
Hiring too many different vocalists is the main drawback of this album, which hinders establishing musical originality. The reason is that most of the vocal works in this album are not exceptionally memorable. In other words, those works are somewhat disconnected from the concept of the album, resulting in vexation when it comes to orchestrating optimum soundscapes. To conclude, It is just a normal hard rock release to me. Jun 28, 2023
Metal Addiction 65/100
This album seems to have done an unsuccessful job of finding the sweet spot using the lo-fi and retro vibes of stoner metal. Bongzilla, again, have proved that they are still struggling musically since the reunion. I hope they get out of the musical ordeal next time. Jun 28, 2023
Metal Addiction 70/100
DevilDriver need to depart from the standard pattern that they have developed through the years. This album sounds like the band has no volition to develop their musicality. I admit that their groove metal style once dominated the metal community, which means that there must be tons of people who love that style. But clinging to the same style for over 10 years without any musical progress cannot be applauded by critics even though their loyal fans may still like it. Jun 26, 2023
Metal Addiction 65/100
This album sounds like the unsuccessful mixture of Periphery and Bullet For My Valentine to me. There are some tracks that have interesting moments, but those are not stood-out moments compared to other competitors in the same genre category. Overall, it is a bit disappointing release, but 'Vengeance' is a good track. Jun 26, 2023
Metal Addiction 75/100
Songwrting-wise, this album is quite solid. All the musical elements are well combined in a tasteful manner. Alizadeh’s vocals give this album a unique identity. But I do not think this album is a crowning achievement in their career. Jun 26, 2023
Metal Addiction 75/100
The most interesting feature of this album is that it is inspired by the poems of André Bjerke and his translations of works from other poets. Some tracks have musical moments as beautiful as those poems. The strong presence of the violin and piano also makes the soundscape of this album somewhat abundant in depth. Jun 25, 2023

The Dutch thrash metal outfit has come back with bone-crunching power. Songwriting-wise, it is straightforward and intuitive. The immense power with blasting speed offers enormous exhilaration for thrash goers. Not all the tracks are satisfactory works, but this album would be a pure joy if you would like to feel the art of thrashing. Jun 24, 2023

In this album, the optimised balance of uplifting and melancholic harmonies brings the bliss of melodicism to listeners. The use of the great combination of clean and growling vocals is a euphoric feature of this album. With this feature, the band has successfully created an overload of beautiful melodies. Nevertheless, the absence of bass guitar definition is a main drawback of this album in my opinion. Aside from that, it is a good melodic death metal release. Jun 23, 2023
Metal Addiction 75/100
It displays a supreme level of originality and authenticity by adopting an ancient form of the native Sinhalan language to its music. The exotic and eccentric atmosphere crafted by that adoption is the most enchanting feature of this album. But the repetitive structure makes it sound too monotonous. Some may say the repetitiveness in structure helped create a hypnotic and disturbing soundscape, but it sounds like a musical estrangement between structure and sound to me. Jun 22, 2023
Metal Addiction 80/100
I stumbled on this good hard rock record a week ago. The retro feel of the sound crafted by the breezy guitar tone makes listeners reminiscent of the good old days when hard rock once conquered the world. The best characteristic of this album in terms of sound and structure is the band's restrained approach to reenacting genuine old-school hard rock. If you are a big hard rock fan, this album is for you. Jun 21, 2023
Metal Addiction 55/100
This album can be described in a single word: omnishambles. It is terribly monotonous in both sound and structure. I tried my best, but it was impossible for me to find any musical depth on this album. Especially the band's attempt to combine electronica with symphonic and metal elements is horrible. Probably one of the worst releases in 2023 to me. Jun 20, 2023
Metal Addiction 80/100
It seems to be a good avant-garde release ostensibly. But, I also think that it's the epitome of a surfeit of discordant instrumentation and stylistic intricacy. The Meshuggah-inspired drum works and scything tremolo guitar patterns make this album sound fascinating. However, the overflow of intricacy in sound and structure disrupts a fine listening experience. The musical style needs to be trimmed down in a simpler way to effectively display chaos and insanity. Pandrador have labelled the genre of their music as 'post-death metal'. So I expected a harmonious mixture of post-metal and death metal or the juxtaposition of these two different genres to create an eccentric atmosphere. But I've hardly found any post-metal elements. If it's considered solely a death metal album, it guarantees a slight joy of that genre to a certain extent. But, the overall quality is a bit disappointing to be considered an 'above-the-average' release. Jun 15, 2023

It is a brilliant debut release. The fans of Between The Buried And Me(BTBAM) or Native Construct would appreciate this effort. Songwriting-wise, It is not as kaleidoscopic as BTBAM. In other words, the soundscape of this release is a bit one-dimensional and not stereoscopic when compared to BTBAM. But the ingenuity of melody-making and the smooth musical transitions in each track would exhilarate listeners by offering the joy of a pure proggy melange. Jun 15, 2023
Metal Addiction 60/100
I have to start off by talking about the horrendous production of this album. The mixing / mastering quality is unbearable. This album is also unintelligible in songwriting-wise with unimpressive vocal works. I have no idea why this band adopts the ecclesiastical sample as the introduction of the track, 'Et Taarn til de Høyeste Himle'. I think they intended the contradictory atmospheric effect to promote the demonic theme of this album, but their attempt is a total failure. Jun 15, 2023

I'm hardly unbiased in talking about this opus. It was the most-played album when I was an undergraduate. Leprous is one of the brightest constellations in progressive metal. Mixing varied musical elements into a harmonious form is one of the charming features of that genre. Leprous have done it meticulously in this album. The Pain of Salvation-esque songwriting style and the melody-making calibre for crafting ethereal beauty via the fantastic vocal works are breathtaking. Jun 15, 2023

It is David Coverdale's first solo album in his sporadic career. I like this album because there were days when he was my hero. I admired his capability of delivering different charms in a lyrical vocal style. If you are the same as me, this album will be a suave gift for your ardent loyalty to him. Jun 14, 2023

Overall, this album is a huge disappointment to me. First of all, each track should not have been that long. I'm fully aware of how hard it would be to compose a long song, but there must be convincing musical moments for listeners to make them stay tuned till the end of the lengthy song. Unfortunately, those moments aren't featured in all three tracks. Mastering is another problem. Volume is too low in general compared to other records. Jun 14, 2023
Metal Addiction 90/100
In this album, Omb trumpet their ingenuity to synthesize varied forms of different genres into works of metallic art. So many comparisons must be summoned to explain the sound and structure of this album. The pleasant insanity of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum or UneXpect can be found. The lyrical and theatrical features of Queensryche, Kayo Dot or Devil Doll can also be spotted in this album. It is recommended for those who enjoy intricate musical amalgamation. Jun 14, 2023

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
