Very good, and some of the guitar work sounds inspired by Black Sabbath, which is an easy way to make me like your music. Apr 19, 2022

I hear the blackened 'throbbing' at some parts of this album, and this is very early in black metal history. Overall good and exciting, and Enter the Eternal Fire is a masterpiece. Apr 19, 2022

The band name translates as Gloom. This is great Mayhem-sounding stuff, done by Severoth. This is the first album he recorded and the D.I.Y. feel works beautifully. Apr 19, 2022

To my ears, this one gets a little heavy metal like their Wisdom of Centuries. This is still predominantly black metal. It has a good full sound and I enjoyed it. They have better albums, but this is a great start. Apr 19, 2022

My first time trying this band, and I'm impressed. I'll bet Dream Theater fans will like this album. Is it just me, or does the singer sound like he's even better when singing in English? Apr 15, 2022

Good but not as good as Abyss Horizons in my opinion. Anyway, it's great for concentrating and working. Apr 15, 2022

I can really get into the groove when the medieval instruments are going. Also, I feel like playing Final Fantasy 5, but that's my problem. It alternates between very harsh and peaceful, and brings a smile to my face. Apr 15, 2022

Driving some new streets while listening to this album was a great experience. The atmosphere is so thick in this album. Is it legal to say 'cosmic atmosphere'? Well the vacuum of space fills this album with atmosphere and gorgeous soundscapes. I will definitely try more from this band. Apr 15, 2022

I think that Euronymous's energy surrounded and soaked into these guys. It's really impressive how Mayhem's albums, even after 2000, are still quality and full of emotion. The situation is quite different for a certain other musician who played on De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. The Mayhem guys still make good music. Apr 15, 2022

So good. Ovfrost uses a drummer for recording the album though he writes everything himself. I think this gives the effect of sounding like a band is performing it. I feel like there's a team working together when I hear this album, and they sound practiced and precise. Such a rich dark feeling on this album, and nice clean vocals too. Apr 15, 2022

Atmospheric bands typically do a cold or wintery album. It's kind of a safe bet as in it's so often enjoyable. Cold sounds different than your average wintery atmospheric album though. Here, Khors uses these icy piercing keyboards, kinda like Lustre's The Ashes of Light but just a little similar. The Khors guys use their own heads and end up sounding unique even when tackling the most stereotypical theme. Respect to the Ukrainian guys. Apr 15, 2022

Nice creepiness. The synthy keyboards border on a little treacle, but I like it. In the beginning I start getting an alternative metal kind of feeling, but at its core it's atmospheric black metal. Also, there are some fun guitar solos. The drums are super enjoyable as always with Khors. Apr 15, 2022

It's a good start for a good band. Apr 15, 2022

So nice and mournful. Speaking of which, it is kinda like doom. I was thinking that while listening, then I noticed how some parts are really just plain old black metal but played noticeably slower than usual, which made it sound kinda like doom without being doom, I guess. I also can't help but wonder if the vocals on this one weren't influenced by Caladan Brood. Anyway, a very strong, sweeping album. Apr 15, 2022

Very very atmospheric in a cosmic kind of way. Not like Mesarthim though, more like early Midnight Odyssey mixed with Aara. It definitely gets me into a zone. Apr 13, 2022

Who could forget an album name like that? I enjoy the weightiness in this album's rather depressive and melancholic style, though it's more traditional black metal than that might make you think. It's also pretty lo-fi, but not out of sloppiness. Maybe the sound is even just right. Apr 13, 2022

These Khors guys are pretty darn dependable. Also, am I hearing congos in there? Anyway, it gets into really nicely layered and built-up arrangements, and works in a little guitar work the feels kind of pan-metal to me. All good stuff. Apr 13, 2022

I don't like this one quite as much as some of their others, and I see it's classified as atmospheric and pagan. I tend not to like pagan as much as other kinds of black metal. I guess that's the reason, maybe just my tastes. Apr 13, 2022

I love the drums on this one in particular. It seems also that the band in general tries new things to find a way to improve without being afraid of genre constraints. It feels just a bit in a progressive direction with the percussion. On top of that, it's a really passionate and inventive album. I just love it. Apr 13, 2022

They went more atmospheric for this one, and it's just as good as their first album. Apr 13, 2022

I'm not sure what genre this feels like to me - maybe generally metal. I didn't mind having it on while driving but I didn't really feel it that much. Apr 13, 2022

This is dungeon synth / ambient stuff. These two track names show up on their 2021 album, but those tracks are shorter and I think a bit better sounding. A close look at the album cover shows us the title is ".. and Autumn Once Lay," though YouTube's stream says 'winter'. I prefer to hear the versions on their awesome 2021 album. Apr 13, 2022

This album is 100% depressive black metal. I'm not really interested in that genre, but I have to admit it's well played. The audio clip in the final track is so sad it made me hold my head. As always, respect to Déhà for tackling any genre of metal and going all the way with it. Apr 13, 2022

Very good, and it gets better as the album progresses. The last song is so awesome, when it ends, I just want to hear it again right away. Apr 13, 2022

It's so perfectly played that the fun of punk just fills me all the way. The album cover is one of the coolest ever, and I can't stop slapping whatever's in front of me to this drumming while the album's playing. the lyrics "I'm a teenage punk antichristian hooligan" are on this: don't you have to listen to it? Kathrine is a vocal master with an expert touch. This album gets really harsh a couple of times. During the soft pretty parts, there's this foreboding and despair that hide behind the nondistorted instrumentation. These layers of feelings make for a great listen. The album mostly stays in an ethereal mode though. If that's not cool with you than Nova is not for you. Apr 11, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
