Huge disappointment from Spectral Wound; only 7 of these songs are AOtY tier. A succinct album, and I wasn't expecting it to lean so much toward the punk side. Album title and track titles are perfect. Kudos to this diabolic horde. Aug 24, 2024

This album takes a while to get going. It shows a good sense of melancholy and evil. A great full-length for Dimmu Borgir to start with. Aug 23, 2024

Atmospheric BM with extremely catchy riffs and head-bopping rhythms. Apparently their other music has some doom in it. I'll have to see if it's as good as this enjoyable album. Aug 23, 2024

It really helps me to be open to any sub-genre. Brutal death metal is not much of a 'me' style but everything here is just fantastic. Jamey Jasta bringing the hardcore punk vocals to the duet with brutal deathgrowls was very energizing. The playing feels tight and the songs are unmistakably motivated by genuine feeling. A huge treat. Aug 22, 2024

Some people will say this is powerviolence / not a metal genre, but this is craazzzyyy heavy. I found the songs more focused & powerful than their 2010 album. These guys were definitely in the moment. Great music. Aug 22, 2024

I appreciated the long stretches of drone metal followed by some soulful doomy guitar melodies. Aug 20, 2024

An awesome ocean of distortion like I expected. I didn't find the 3rd track to work as well as the rest of the EP, so I can't rate it way up in the clouds like I did for Grandeur of Hair. Anyway, this was soothing and packed with energizing vibes - great to hear before finally getting sleepy last night. Aug 18, 2024

More great music from Poison Ruïn, and I couldn't be happier. Aug 17, 2024

I'm having a bit of trouble coming to terms with how much I like this EP considering it's basically a bunch of unreleased tracks except the last 2 which are already-released remastered tracks. There is better production since the self-titled EP. Anyway, the sinister moods, soaring melodies, and vast atmospheres work so well together. Great work by a boiling hot artist of the 2020s. This one is pretty similar to Plague, my favorite from Nebula Orionis, and especially so in track 2. Despite the fact that there's no black metal besides a few backgrounded vocals here & there, there's still a very strong Lustre influence. Good / not great, but I like this slightly more than his blackgaze album Sorrow from 2023. Aug 16, 2024

I find myself skipping the slow intros. They got carried away putting too many of those moments in this album, making it longer than it needed to be. Other than that, it's easy to hear it's pretty good. Medium enjoyable for me. Aug 16, 2024

Good black metal with both first wave and second wave feelings. I'd give it a higher rating if itdidn't quiet down in the middle of a song so often - it loses some momentum because of that. I'll still recommend it - worthy of that attractive cover. Aug 15, 2024

Everything about this album feels good to me, but nothing stands out as great. Solid first release though. Aug 15, 2024

Good first wave BM & dungeon synth by this Spanish artist. Aug 13, 2024

A pretty good album with some real highlights like the highly addictive prechorus to track 2. Unfortunately, a bunch of the songs are really mediocre and don't amount to much. The better moments make great use of nu metal fun, and the best moments show some nice Mike Patton influence. Aug 12, 2024

A great example of how black metal can sound like the darkest night sky. The vocal tone is so croaky that it's almost unlistenable, which produces very satisfying results. The drumming and riffs are magnificent. I really loved it with all of my blackened heart. Thanks to BMP for promoting awareness of this dynamite band. Aug 12, 2024

Glad I've finally heard the whole thing because some very bright spots were new to me. Some of the songs alternate between very dynamic melodies and weaker parts that feel stuck in a rut and repeat too much. Of course this doesn't compare to their first album, but it's still good to give it a try. Aug 6, 2024

This is a moving album and it's rather unique too. I do find a few times where the composition loses its tension, but it's mostly very good. Aug 6, 2024

Singing not as good as the instruments. It's like the Megadeath problem but a tiny bit less of a gap. The thick Black Sabbath soundscapes make it worthwhile. Aug 6, 2024

Just the right energy, and it's heavier than a lot of metal. The whole thing brings a smile to my face. Aug 6, 2024

Wonderful black metal leaning in a slightly punky direction. The last track is not as good as the rest of the EP, so this is mostly great gritty DIY songs with one so-so one. Aug 6, 2024

Very heavy, but in an old school death metal kind of way. A real pleasure. Aug 6, 2024

I had to keep listening again & again. That evil vibe and the catchiness are just great. The cover art is a sad casualty of AI, but the music is on a much higher level. Aug 6, 2024

Banger TV helped me out again. This death doom has a nice old school heavy metal element. I wasn't expecting that, but I really liked it. Aug 6, 2024

I saw that fantastic cover art on Bandcamp, so I gave this a listen on a whim. It was a great decision. Highly recommended. Aug 6, 2024

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
