Pure energy and an amazing sound. Even the darker tones feel bright to me somehow. So this is what excellent deathgrind sounds like, huh? I'm really impressed. The best thing I heard today. Oct 13, 2023

Very good war metal, but The Light-Devouring Darkness is noticeably better. Anyway, respect to Archgoat for another great album. Oct 13, 2023

Huge cathartic conclusions with an exhilarating black metal sound make for some great highlights on this album. I'm taking some points off for too much spoken word and taking too much time to build the tension with airy post-rock. Skip some parts and this is clearly a 90/100 or even maybe 95/100. In the end, I still consider myself lucky to have experienced it. Oct 13, 2023

A good satisfying short album if you skip the talking after the bonus track. Also, I appreciate the album cover and theme being about injustice. Oct 13, 2023

Great compositions, good instrumentation, & mid-tier lyrics. I love the style; sometimes there's not enough goth in gothic metal, but this album really delivers with the romantic mood and chilly dark atmosphere I was hoping for. Oct 13, 2023

Raise Your Banner and Trophy Hunter are just wonderful songs. Most of this album, though, is filler with amateurish lyrics, too much singing, and forced choruses with babbling melodies. The overproduced nature of the recording makes the flaws nice and clear. Of course that means the instruments are crystal clear too, but isn't it cheaper to just do a critique on the lyrics and singing melody and fine tune it a little? Of course that is a cool album cover though. Oct 12, 2023

Very good war metal here, but those song titles and the album title are just some of the coolest in metal history. Should I increase the score for that reason? Oct 12, 2023

This album really astounded me today, and I just can't stop saying that album title in my head. The reason some of us find something so special about war metal is that bands like Revenge put in the effort and perfect the sub-genre's sound so thoroughly. Oct 12, 2023

Gorgeously heavy stoner sludge from Dvne here! I like this even more than Asheran. My favorite of the day. Now I'm looking at their discography and wishing it had more. Do you remember Sonic the Hedgehog tapping his foot? Oct 12, 2023

Pretty good. Some melo death and a little melodic metalcore. Overall the same level as In Flames's 2023 album, but Sunholy has more consistent quality on the vocals. Oct 12, 2023

Venymysgourvleydh's tracks are very lo-fi, but not with that fuzzy staticky raw sound. They really sound like a psychotic state, but the recording quality does detract a little. Collier d'Ombre's tracks are a little better, and they follow the atmospheric BM formula. Track 4 does have a nice heavy-metal-sounding intro. Oct 12, 2023

There are many great songs on this album, though some are just somewhat good. Frozen in Time, in particular, is giant triumph of songwriting & delivery. Good work by a very good duo. Oct 11, 2023

Energetic music with a fun theme. The vocals aren't my style, but I can stop thinking about that and recognize everything is done well here. Oct 11, 2023

I was blown away by how perfect everything sounds. Cold, evil, and everything I could hope for. Oct 7, 2023

Good songs, great recording except the vocals are a little too loud, and amazing charisma & delivery by Elena as always. Also, this album does a good job of keeping all the songs strong - more consistent than many Infected Rain albums. I was already a huge fan of Elena, but she's refined her vocal skills and sense of melody even further. All in all, somewhat commercial but still very good. Oct 7, 2023

I find all the elements nice, and I really love their style, but I wasn't getting enough passion & impact. A lot of songs are more hard rock than metal, and that got me thinking how their style is very similar to The Cult's. As a coincidence, She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult then came on the radio and showed me how this style can have so much passion that it's hard to believe. Good but not great for Downhearted. Insane drumming, and the constant lightspeed tempos are soothing as war metal often is. I still don't know much about deathgrind, but I'll need to educate myself. This EP is extremely exciting music, and the cover art complements it wonderfully. Oct 7, 2023

I had a hunch it would be just okay, but this is just fantastic. It puts me in a cold hazy zone and I can just feel the tragic vibe. An extremely pleasant surprise. For me, this artist came out of nowhere and handed me the best thing I listened to today. Great job Eclipsus. Oct 6, 2023

Very well-played if you ask my ears. Also, it runs through the whole variety of post-black metal - a wash of hazy distortion, heavy cathartic metal with powerfully harsh vocals, soothing floating melodies, & hypnotizing ambient parts. I'm making another note to check a band's earlier albums now. Oct 6, 2023

Another nice solid album by Spineshank. There are a few very commercial moments that had me saying, "Oh, shut up." The vast majority was fine though, with the same bright energy as The Height of Callousness. I'll give them the same score, but if either one is better, I'd say it's this one. Oct 6, 2023

First I recognize that this is electronic music. Then I can really enjoy it. I just love the neoclassical feel to the compositions. darkwave and chiptune work very well with this kind of cyber metal. I want more. Oct 5, 2023

Rebellious & in-your-face in an enjoyable way. The vocals are the weakest part of the sound, but even the singing has some very nice moments throughout the record. End result - I had a good time. Oct 4, 2023

For me, a good experience. Probably hard for many people to listen to, but there's tons of atmosphere. Similar in style to 2022's albums like Chat Pile and the even better Ashenspire. This KEN mode album isn't quite as powerful though. I think you'll feel some sludge in addition to the hardcore & noise rock. Oct 4, 2023

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
