I especially liked tracks 4 & 11, but I was also struck by how they are focused on the musicality from start to finish, as opposed to sounding commercial. Very good vocals too. Jun 7, 2023

These 2 were totally committed to old school 90s and a lo-fi D.I.Y. aesthetic. That's a cool approach. I liked it but didn't love it. However, I'm particularly curious about their other projects. Jun 7, 2023

Are these guys officially the most divisive band on earth? Props to the singer for never forgetting the passion. There's a lot of beautiful moments on this album, and I rocked the whole time. Pretty darn good. Jun 7, 2023

I found the first track so-so, but 2, 3, & 4 are bright blazing fires. I reveled in the 80s feel combined perfectly with Omnium Gatherum's signature sound. I'm always thankful when these guys are creating music. Jun 7, 2023

I loved the combination of chilling out, meditative, & industrial feels. Toward the end, there are some high-pitched beeps that might really hurt your ears, so be warned. Besides that warning, I have only extremely positive things to say about this awesome album. Jun 7, 2023

I learned that some Godflesh fans don't like this album, and even Justin wasn't happy with how it turned out. Call me crazy; I loved this album to death. The hip hop tones created mostly through guitar work were delectable. The industrial feel was very strong, so it delivered what I came for. It's heavy, dystopian, and full of thick atmosphere, but it's also perfect for chilling out. In my opinion that's a real accomplishment. Jun 4, 2023

I really liked how Cryptospital took a chance and challenged me with this interesting new album. It's mostly pretty raw and the bass is quite faint. It was like being lost at sea - occasionally passing damaged ships of evil ghosts in a hazy night. Suddenly it ended and I was surprised 1 hour & 11 minutes went by so quickly. Just like that unassuming yet perfect album cover, the music follows a strategy to create a strong impact. Jun 4, 2023

Doesn't that album cover make you happy? It's back to the 70s for early metal & proto metal here, but it's still their own original songwriting. It's very enjoyable instrumental music. Also, sometimes I get this little creeping fear that there is a bunch of metal heads that assume metal began with Cannibal Corpse. Let's remember the real history. I hope this brand new band keeps up the hard work. Jun 4, 2023

Extremely evil all the way through and the execution is great. Also, holy s#%t track 4 Mental Fortress is absolutely amazing. Jun 4, 2023

The melancholy in this recording is crushing throughout the whole 43 minutes. Jun 4, 2023

Ooof. My pick of the day. I remembered liking Asagraum, but this is even better than my memory. The evil atmosphere is master tier, and the instrumentation conveys so much exhilaration. They must have been in exactly the right zone to achieve this sound. A great album here. Jun 1, 2023

I find the first few songs overbearing (like usual for death metal) but I'm not getting any emotion. Starting around the middle, things improve a lot. However, the interludes start to really bother me - it's kind of a rookie mistake. I think a lot of death metal fans can ignore these weak points and still enjoy this album, but I have to detract points. Jun 1, 2023

I'll say good but not great. About the genre - it has eerie cosmic atmosphere, but it's more like encountering ghosts while exploring moons and orbiting. Don't come expecting Darkspace. The types of melody are, here & there, similar to doom or heavy metal, so there's good variety. Jun 1, 2023

Impressive array of black metal's variety on this one. It's also worth noting how many different kinds of harsh vocals she uses throughout the album. Very good and recommended. Jun 1, 2023

I'm giving it the same score, but this is slightly better than Part II. This one has a little more tension, so I feel the emotion a bit more. Good doom with nothing particularly bad about it. Jun 1, 2023

Full of vitality and it has a great sound. A couple songs are kind of so-so, and there are a few corny lines ( corny in an evil way), but there are tons of good parts. No Sun and Nordlandihr were quite powerful highlights for me. Jun 1, 2023

Very energetic and worth repeated listens. I find this actually gets better the more I listen. It's not the most mind-bending complex djent out there, but the emotions & moods make grand triumphant entrances. There're also some sweet solos. No weak parts - all positive. May 28, 2023

Track 9 gets super corny, so I might skip it from now on. Even at that, the track keeps a nice tempo and stays motivated, which is rare for a ballad. I found the rest of the songs a mix of very good and mediocre. May 27, 2023

That verse on the first song is amazing. Overall, very impressive with a lot of good songs and nothing I'll skip. This kind of sound makes the 80's painful level of cheesiness seem totally unnecessary. When played by these guys it's a good sound. May 27, 2023

I got into it and I found the arrangement very tight, but I was surprised it didn't blow me away like so much funeral doom has the past few months. Standards can get too high sometimes, right? The colors used on the title were definitely a rookie mistake. I think a lot of people see it and think there's no text on the cover. May 27, 2023

Not perfect in composition, but it perfectly achieves that sombre post-metal sound I love so much. It also finds really nice changes between straight up post-metal and black metal segments that are as harsh as they should be. On balance, it's very good for a debut. May 27, 2023

Good traditional doom. Also, I deeply respect them for the theme they chose for this release. May 27, 2023

This album was a real treat. Even though I listen to new black metal albums daily, I found a lot of the songs in the middle of the album actually terrifying. The last track feels like a tragedy full of massive despair. Congratulations on a job very well done. May 27, 2023

I really loved their style on this. The playing on this album alternates between really good and kind of good. I look forward to trying their other releases. May 27, 2023

There are some very good songs, but a few have way too much singing, which makes some songs rather weak & forced. I feel strange saying this considering how amazing Lajon's voice is. Oh well. Still kinda good. May 27, 2023

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
