It starts getting more powerful toward the end of the album, but mostly just so-so for me. The lyrics are often cliché, but besides that nothing is particularly bad. The songwriting just didn't excite me much. Mar 4, 2023

Very kvlt black metal and rather good as well. Did you ever see some old fashioned paintings in a Buddhist temple showing dystopian scenes of hell? That's called jigokuhen. Mar 4, 2023

Thanks to Sam Dunn from Banger TV and to Abdullah for the glowing reviews of this. You're totally right that it's a truly great album. Very impressive performance, and it's just so beautiful that it doesn't even matter what genres I prefer; such great music makes genres almost meaningless. Gigantic amounts of respect are due Hath. I love every second of this album. I also have to say that the singer's rough gruff manly vocal style is truly excellent because he uses this style to convey some very pure passion, whereas some vocalists use that style to just inflate their egos and pretend to be a bigger dog than anyone else. Anyway, the instrumentation is all great on this album, and the songwriting gets rather inventive. Some good variety and it all works together wonderfully. Mar 2, 2023

I started my day off in proper fashion thanks to this pure dead brilliant Scottish artist. I'm not against speed metal on principle or anything, and this album inspires me to try some more of the genre. Also, that's one of the awesomest album titles I've heard in a long time, and great artwork that matches it. Mar 2, 2023

Super dramatic feelings on this album that held my attention the whole time, which it seems is a challenge for making any kind of doom. The style is like Draconian but without the gothic element. Overall good. Mar 2, 2023

Some of these songs have a very good energy, especially tracks 9 & 10. For a lot of this album, I was rolling my eyes though. The vocals have a lot of variety, but I disliked them more than half of the time. It's a mix of good & bad for me, but nothing is terrible. Definitely more positive than negative. Mar 1, 2023

Very deep emotions and top-tier execution on this album. I could almost give it an even higher score, but for me some clean and strumming interludes feel really out of place and detract a little. However, Niilo deserves major credit for linking this album to his own writing and to a major regional famine in the year 1696. The sadness in these songs fit that history in a very touching way. An improvement on their first album. This one has more pain, anger, & sadness than Pristine. Actually, their theme for this one is drought and human destruction of the environment, and the sound of this album is absolutely perfect for that theme. Congratulations to Morwinyon on their triumphant return. Mar 1, 2023

Pristine is the perfect title to reflect the feeling I get from this album. I loved it when it was brand new. Now as I listen, I feel the sound & individual melodies are all fantastic, but these building blocks are not crafted into songs of the same level of excellence. Still, I'll be more than happy to return to this album again & again. Mar 1, 2023

My pick of the day. This is a heartwrenching album with obvious Lustre influence, but Ex Anima has his own style so you won't get that copycat feeling. It's when I hear an album like this, with it's obvious DIY sound, that I think that lower budgets and less studio involvement tends to make for better albums. The album cover & band logo are top tier, but the font for the album title doesn't quite work for me. Anyway, it's a fantastic album. Mar 1, 2023

Very impressive how these guys do such a good job at summarizing all of the styles of the main 1st and 2nd waves' influential artists, and putting it all in an extremely atmospheric album. Recording is all just right and all songs are very well crafted. The tons of sadness & suffering these songs convey make me want to hear Tombstone's earlier work as well. Recommended. Mar 1, 2023

Rather good album. To my ear, the instruments lean heavily to the black metal side, but the vocals are straight up death metal. Actually, the vocals were the least enjoyable part of the album for me though I'm not saying they're particularly bad. Mar 1, 2023

Enjoyable spacey feeling album. I didn't expect for almost half of it to be like Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, but surprises like this are what make life interesting, right? Mar 1, 2023

Everything this guy does is a blast of enjoyment. I feel the energy from the beginning to the end. At some parts here and there the complexity and fury come out together and create bright shining highlights for this album. If I listen to The Dark Atom, it really makes me appreciate the day and feel ready to face it. Feb 27, 2023

Very fun instrumental proggy music here. A sax shows up. There are some voice-overs. It's also 100% positive vibes. Feb 25, 2023

This band is new to me, and I'm glad I gave them a try. This album sounds like a lot of practice went into it. Also, I like the singing a lot more than I thought I was going to. I'm sorry to say Japanese heavy metal and power metal singers often feel awkward to me. However, Asami here seems to have no weak spot. Actually she's the highlight of this album for me. Feb 25, 2023

Yes it's a demo, but it's my album of the day. The instruments that start off as separate things, then get lost in the fog together, creep back out to show their individuality that's mostly hidden through the lo-fi recording. It all works together so harmoniously, I just love it. My only criticism is that it would be better with no fade outs. Anyway, it's almost the perfect music for a weirdo like me. Feb 25, 2023

A much earlier album from them compared to their great accomplishment of 2022. I'm trying to be critical of L'Exil, but I'm having difficulty. They have such great synergy, if I can say that about a band that purposely works in a lot of dissonance. Their style is so unnerving - it's like watching the most nerve-wracking horror movie. Respect to Acédia. Feb 25, 2023

Great melodies as usual for Devin, especially the ethereal sections. I also agree with Ziltoid; he deserves revenge for that bad cup of coffee. Feb 25, 2023

When I got the cassette in the 80s all the songs sounded exactly right to me. Now I see how they are well-crafted & concise examples of how to turn songwriting basics into top-tier music. Twisted Sister's fully disciplined approach to composition contrasts ironically with the zany & overdramatic lyric themes and band image, bringing some humor and depth to the songs. I greatly appreciate all this even more than I used to. Feb 25, 2023

Primordial Serpent is transforming from one of the many good BM artists of the horde to one of the most powerful as he releases this one. Every song is very good, but that last one is a gigantic climax and one of the best tracks so far this year. That song is a 110/100. My pick of the day. Respect to Primordial Serpent. Feb 24, 2023

It's a great feeling of drama on this album. It doesn't come close to blowing me away the way A Diabolic Thirst did. This is, however, a short sweet extremely gratifying record. If you ever like any kind of black metal, I recommend listening to this one at least once. Feb 24, 2023

I love all the singing on this album. Though it still sounds like the same Kamelot from other albums, I find the songwriting is not up to the same level as The Black Halo or Haven. Not a flaw anywhere; just less excellent. Feb 24, 2023

Within traditional black metal, this album goes through as much variety as possible, and it does each mode very well. The instrumentalist is also in Ringarë, which is a high-class credential in my eyes. Every riff is melodious and energetic, and the songwriting flows perfectly nonstop. Also, great cover by Nightjar Illustration, who seemed to follow me around my region today. Feb 24, 2023

I find the songwriting more focused than on the symphonies. This album brings industrial to a cleaner more uplifting place than most bands. Some of us might be disappointed that this is safe for when your grandma is in the room, but good music is good music. I opened my mind a little and could hear the beauty of this music. Feb 24, 2023

These guys have a stellar reputation. I need to try more than 1 album, but I'm guessing they deserve their reputation. Yes this is very good death doom, and it gets more upbeat with faster tempos which surprised me. Also, that brilliant cover is by Nightjar Illustration who has a habit of creating beautiful covers that end up being legendary & acclaimed albums. All in all, this is a great release. Feb 24, 2023

Very weird music, maybe not for everyone. Definitely good. No part in particular is negative for me but I don't feel its' great. By all means try to make another album like this but even better. This guy has a good ear for catchiness. Feb 24, 2023
Cosmicism 90/100
Very good and 100% solid album. I can hear the care & commitment these guys put in. I think the style is not typical for Greek bands. This one's super melodic and mostly melancholic as well, and the result is quite beautiful, I think more typical for German bands. Also, I'm not quite sure, but if those are supposed to be nooses on the logo, please just stop that silliness BM bands. Feb 22, 2023

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
