Good rather fast melodic black metal. It sounds like these guys practice enough that their timing falls exactly where they intend it to. Jan 18, 2023

Nice discovery. It's doom-laden, fuzzy, and spacey. Songs range from so-so to very good, but the singing is kinda weak. It needs vibrato & notes need to be carried longer to increase the music's quality, but the singing's mood and personality are pleasant, so I like the vocals even though they should better. I bet the cover art is from Midjourney AI. That style and use of color are getting old so quickly. It's time for bands to stop using it. The AI is stuck in a narrow rut. Jan 16, 2023

Gorgeous Funeral Doom, and the 20.000 Leagues theme works very well. The only negative thing I could say is that I was wondering if it would be even better, considering the band's glorious career to this point. Anyway, the songs are still really excellent, and the production is perfect. Not to be missed. Jan 14, 2023

Considering it's their first album, I expected it to be less powerful than XIII. XX starts off so-so, but Never Let It Go just blew me away; it's really the fun song of the album with those playful breaks. Next Xeroxed was heavier than I expected. All good songs with nice variety too. Definitely a bit better than XIII. This album was as fun of a surprise as the phone call at the end. Jan 14, 2023

Blackened death metal seems to be in a period of expansion, and thankfully so, with very solid albums like this one. I like everything they do on this album and want them to just keep doing what they love. Maybe their destiny is even better albums and a tour with The Great Old Ones. Jan 14, 2023

Overall it's good black metal, and the last song is my favorite. Having a different vocalist on each track creates variety and makes it feel like it has a story. I have a hunch these guys will produce better and better releases. Jan 14, 2023

Hypnotic and heartbreaking. My pick of the day. I officially love her music. The compositions on this album are really inspired and they're performed with charisma. It's like she's speaking with my soul. Jan 14, 2023

Wow more great and very creative music from the amazingly prolific Victoria from Luna Pythonissam, Persephone's Legacy, and other projects. I wish I knew what brass instrument I'm hearing in this one. This album is not for all metal heads, but if you're mind is open to it, you'll get these intensely unnerving moods and mysterious atmospheres. Jan 14, 2023

Very noice and thoroughly dank. Thank you again to Daniel on Banger TV for his picks from 2022. Yes this music is Sabbath worship. Also, it's retro without being phony. Recommended! Jan 14, 2023

I loved the creepiness and the songs are rather powerful. I feel the guitar isn't exactly as precise as it should be, but I still really enjoyed the whole EP. Jan 14, 2023

Good psychedelic stuff with some Tool influence that works rather well. I look forward to trying the most recent album. Jan 14, 2023

Sounds like sludge & doom to me. Very very very heavy. It doesn't get me so excited, but it's impressive how heavy it its. Jan 14, 2023

My pick of the day. I love how well these two collaborate, and the 3rd track is the real collaboration. It's also the best track, and it has such real despair and drama. I look forward to listening to more Brouillard and her other projects as well as to more Drache or any other project with Déhà. Jan 12, 2023

The music is best in the first half of the album. For me, by the end the electronic element starts to get plainly treacle. I've heard other releases from this artist that I like more than this one. Jan 12, 2023
Cosmicism 70/100
First of all, to me it sounds a lot like Draconian, so I think it's gothic death doom. Anyway, this album is very good at achieving a good doom metal sound and structuring the songs like doom metal too. However, I don't find passion or interesting musical ideas on this album. The last song is better than the rest but it's still, all things considered, an average album. The singer is also in Elysia, which I like a lot more. Jan 12, 2023

These songs don't work so well. I find the music constantly alternating between really enjoyable parts and very awkward parts that are hard to listen to. No disrespect to the Koяn guys; I'm just not into this album. Jan 12, 2023

This album got a lot of media attention and I finally found out that it deserves it. I like it less than some people do, but I agree it's very emotional and it makes me reflect a lot. Unlike most metal, this album feels more like performance art than a band playing their songs. Even if you're not going to like it as much as me, I think you just have to hear it at least once. Powerful music from the first second to the last one. I'm getting more & more into blackened death metal, and discovering such an accomplished and inspired band keeps me going in that direction. This music is very unorthodox, incorporating strange sounds and uncommon instruments, and of course the dissonance helps. This album makes me believe metal can find new frontiers of how evil it can sound. This music is really special. Jan 11, 2023

Impressive post-metal album that is somewhat rocky and black metal influence shows up just a bit. The first song is almost perfect except for the outro being a bit too long. Production on the whole thing is gorgeous, and songwriting is genius as is usual for Déhà. Jan 11, 2023

I started off wondering if I actually wanted to spend a whole hour and 45 minutes on one album. A couple of epic-length funeral doom songs later the album was more than half over. Some of the funeral doom is extremely triumphant. There are also sombre piano & vocal songs. Déhà shows some amazing singing ability. Tons of astounding music on this compilation. Jan 11, 2023

One of the many many truly excellent atmospheric BM releases from 2021. I listened to this one quite a lot. It's his first full length. A bit lo-fi and it has a really cool synthwave intro. Great from start to finish. Jan 11, 2023

I remembered listening to this when it came out. Now I'm surprised it's even better than I remembered. Jan 8, 2023
White Zombie – Astro-Creep: 2000 - Songs of Love, Destruction and Other Synthetic Delusions of the Electric Head (1995)
Cosmicism 90/100
Some weak points are kinda uninteresting songwriting in some of the first few songs, and Rob Zombie's singing sometimes lacks variety (a tendency for him). The positive points tower over the negative ones though. The guitar sounds are massive and mean! Lyrics are often amusing, and the grooves and beats are pure gold. The hidden track is beautiful and of course track 8 deserves its legendary status. I'm so glad I've finally heard the whole album. Jan 7, 2023

Nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Most songs start out promising and then go nowhere, and there are trite lyrics here & there. The singer's voice and charisma are pretty great though, and the last track is rather good. Jan 7, 2023
Cosmicism 95/100
My first time trying this artist and I'm extremely glad I did. I definitely love funeral doom, and now here's one more artist that I'll pay the highest level of attention to. The melodies & buildups are masterful on this album. My favorite listen of the day. Jan 7, 2023
Cosmicism 85/100
Slightly better than previous releases even though I'm giving the same score. There's some cool and original guitarwork that makes it even more interesting than usual. Solid discography so far from this instrumental stoner project. Jan 7, 2023

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
