Skepticism은 Thergothon과 함께 퓨너럴 둠의 왕초로 불린다. 둘 다 퓨너럴 둠의 시작 쯤으로 보면 되겠는데 시초라고 해서 더 발전하고 그런 게 없을 정도로 완성적인 극단을 달린다. 즉 더없이 느리고 우울하다. 흔하게들 많은 둠메탈 밴드들이 반음관계나 4도 반 차이가 나는 음으로 진행해서 데스메탈과도 같은 분위기를 내는 것 처럼 하는 게 아니라, 마이너 코드로 2도 반, 4도, 6도 관계인 코드 (그러니까 Em-Am이나 Cm-D♭m-Fm-G# 과 같이)를 쓰며 서정적인, 그러니까 슬프고 처절한 코드진행을 보여준다. 또 눈에 띄는 것은 오르간의 사용인데, 이 오르간이 이들의 장송곡같은 사운드에 한 몫 단단히 하는 듯 하다.
