"Tell No Tales" had been TNT's most polished album up to this point. Upon first listening, one gets the impression that it was tailor-made for a more commercial audience. I can't say that's too surprising though, considering that it was the midst of the 1980s when "hair bands" were in the spotlight. As a result, some bands started jumping in on the trend, and Norway's TNT did something akin to that. While some individuals would probably condemn them for "selling out", I commend them for revamping themselves. TNT honestly sounds better than ever before, and with "Tell No Tales" they deliver some of the finest Glam/Pop Metal of the '80s. All of the members contribute with something, but what propels TNT into above-average territory are Tony Harnell and Ronnie LeTekro. Tony has a fabulous voice (one with great range too) that I've always had a fondness for. He sings his heart out like Whitney Houston, especially on soulful power ballads such as "Child's Play" and "Northern Lights". As for Ronnie, he's a splendid guitarist whose abilities are a cut above most of his peers (just check out "Sapphire"). Overall, a high quality release from TNT, although I'd only recommend it to those who don't have an aversion to this kind of Metal.
