For the first half of the album I felt like Praise was the only excellent song, but for the last 5 or so songs I felt a lot more power. Angel's Son is a really emotional song with real energy even though it's a ballad. This means a lot to me because most of the time with metal and rock the ballad has a loose weak composition, like it's hard to find the right timing to make it good if it's on the slower end. Angel's Son doesn't fall into that trap. May 22, 2022

They have a nice evil and dangerous classic black metal sound. You could depend on this kind of sound for an enjoyable album for black metal fans like me, but Wampyrinacht adds in some classic heavy metal and infuses it with a general gothic feel, and then it gets really mournful and foreboding as well. Totally well-rounded album. May 22, 2022

I really respect this artist. I find extremely moving music in about the first half of this album, but the 2nd half didn't make me feel it as much, though the album sounds well played throughout. May 22, 2022

High quality all the way. I guess I don't enjoy it as much as The Mantle by Agalloch, but they have something in common. I'm listening to good metal, then at some point it changed to folk without me noticing because I'm still enjoying it. May 20, 2022

I really enjoyed it, and Ozzy is on fire. I feel a mix of styles from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Volume 4. Also, I was totally surprised to hear straight up thrash riffs in the middle of the album. May 20, 2022

These are some serious musicians. I felt a bit confused about how to enjoy this record, with some soft rock and poppy parts, and then it comes in with heavy very progressive playing. There's nothing harsh though. Also, I wish the singer wouldn't swear; it just feels out of place. Let Trent Reznor and Zack De la Rocha do the swearing. Overall very impressive, but I don't enjoy it like some other progressive metal. May 20, 2022

I liked home a lot, and this is just as good but even heavier. I was surprised. Some tracks have some NIN-sounding industrial stuff tacked on before the song begins. Yes it was 1997, but that was totally unnecessary. Maybe some studio executive's fault. Anyway, awesome album. May 20, 2022

Some cosmic sounds in the beginning and some ambient as a bed later, but it's very classic Mayhem-sounding music. Awesome driving beats and and every song is full of feeling. May 20, 2022

Good black metal, a little deathy on some songs. I love the theme. May 20, 2022

Terrifying and so full of textures and layers of dark atmosphere, perfect for the eldritch horrors it's themed on. I expected a lot from these masters: they helped create atmospheric black metal and now they give me a pleasant surprise by creating a somewhat new take on the sub-sub-genre. A contender for album of the year for sure. May 20, 2022

Very nice incorporation of symphonic elements. I found myself wishing for the vocals not to come as often. Maybe that's just me. Nice head-bopping parts, and elsewhere some hugely dramatic climaxes. May 19, 2022

Very heavy guitar fuzz and heroic-sounding songs, and when not heroic, it gets kinda melancholic. Full of feeling, and it's a nice long album. May 19, 2022

For me, the album gets good here and there with a pagan type of groove and cool guitar sound like usual, but I don't find most of this album as emotional as Horn's other work. May 19, 2022

It's a very good album, and I appreciate and respect how the album title is the musical theme, not just a concept for the songs and album. I find some of the songs good and some of them great, though the vocals are always mind-blowing. Eye of the Storm is pure gold and definitely in the running for song of the year. May 19, 2022

Mostly good songs, but a couple of uninspired ones, and a few clichéd lyrics. Nothing so weak that it offends my senses, but I found the drumming kinda corny a couple of times. The singer really kills it for most songs, and their Soundgarden cover is really impressive; I didn't think anyone else could do it that well. May 19, 2022

Very melancholic. The first track shares something in common with Hermit, though I know that's also a rather unknown artist. Night is a very slowly building EP. The first track is super raw atmospheric (cosmic) black metal, and the 2nd track is more dark ambient, bringing the night air into your ears. I really chilled out to this. May 19, 2022

Very harsh and bracing classic black metal, but it manages a very lush sense of drama and it strikes some melancholic and tragic tones with the lead guitar at some points. High quality and heavy. May 19, 2022

I can't get into this album. I guess some people can, so I don't give it a 40, but I had major trouble taking this music seriously. The songs are super short and I have trouble finding any differences between them. I find the vocals ridiculous. May 19, 2022

I came into this one expecting not to like it, because it says goregrind, but I had a nice surprise. It was kinda close to my preferences, I guess because it's part black metal. It has moody whispery vocals and some krinkly breaking glass sounds here and there, and an occasional siren too. I still don't quite understand cybergrind yet, but I'm sure I like this one album. The quality in all aspects of this album is very good, and I was surprised because I'd never listened to a whole album by them before. Of course Cradle of Filth has a not-so-serious vibe. As long as you're OK with that I highly recommend this one. Thank you so much to the cover artist for referencing Hieronymus Bosch. It needs to be said that the title is a pop cultural refrence to Star Trek, and Hellraiser makes an appearance too. A+ for nerdiness. May 17, 2022

Yes it's very good. I was a little surprised that it's such a short EP, but it's better to have no filler. Nice slow moody stuff. May 17, 2022

The soaring beauty mixed with death metal, also Omnium Gatherum's signature sound, this album brought me to my happy place. May 17, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
