Very precise execution, and the drums have a great sound. Nice & powerful. May 3, 2024

Oh heck yeah. This deathgrind is just so fiery. The members experience from their previous band is apparent. May 3, 2024

I wasn't surprised, but this EP really stole my heart. I find the first half more engaging than the second, but it's still a great experience to hear the whole thing and drift away. May 3, 2024

I enjoyed it mildly. No particular misstep, just nothing that feels excellent. May 3, 2024

Really beautifully demonic music by this extremely vital band. I can't say, however, that this album is as much of a gem as their 2022 album. Versets noirs is only 42 minutes and the last track is a Samael cover, so it doesn't pack as much value overall. The result is that we should just listen to a bunch of their releases in a row and feel super satisfied. Thank you so much, ACOD! Apr 29, 2024

Great heavy metal and thrash with still that hint of BM. Of the past 10 years, I think this one is 2nd to Old Star; really close in fact. Also, that cover art works fantastically with the theme, and its element of surrealism is mixed in perfectly. This album is a class act in many respects from the prolific veterans. Apr 29, 2024

This one has some absolutely beautiful Pink-Floyd-sounding moments, and all the sludge is good as well. Solid album. Apr 29, 2024

Some bands like Full of Hell play a real unique mix of quite a few genres, and they truly excel with this approach. For metalheads who are trying to develop an understanding of a genre, this can be really confusing. Anyway, one track starts off as drone metal and quickly phases into doom. There are all kinds of other brilliant highlights. For me, the deathgrind brings the most satisfaction. Top-tier work, overall. Apr 29, 2024

Thank you metalkingdom.net for bringing this dynamic group to my attention. Breakneck speed replete with insanity. A refreshingly bracing experience. Apr 29, 2024

Pierce Williams is probably my favorite drummer active now, and this is more of the stuff I just love immensely. The vocals are pretty good, and that's the weakest element of the album. Everything else is excellent. Highly recommended and, without a doubt, my pick of the week. Apr 29, 2024

A decent start. Not original at all, but imitating Lustre in the early releases turned into a good discography for many projects such as Basarabian Hills. Apr 29, 2024

It is very hard to take this music seriously with the vocals being like blowing bubbles in a cup of water. I tried to have an open mind, and found some great bouncy grooves and deathy guitar melodies. I really don't need to hear crying and abuse for minutes though. Some good aspects and some negative ones. Apr 29, 2024

I'm almost considering moving this up to 90. It was a lot better than I expected, noticing that too idealized execution of a nice idea for an album cover. I was in it for the doomy aspect, but the more rock & post-metal parts were fantastic. At Least it's Something is the standout track for me, but the whole record is full of great moments. Cathartic & uplifting music, so it's kinda mom rock while also being gothic doom but still works well even if you assume that' a bad combo. Not a favorite, but I'm glad I listened. Apr 29, 2024

Yes Mithrandir used the same painting for an album cover last year. Anyway, this EP is very old-school symphonic, so it often sounds more synth than classical. All in all, it's pretty good. Apr 24, 2024
Cosmicism 90/100
Very well played and in great taste. It's also their own kind of war metal, so it's more distinct than other bands. There is a surprising shift in style later in the album, but anyway, this is highly recommendable. My pick of the day. Apr 24, 2024

This one has great energy. Devourment's kind of slam should be heard even by metalheads who don't like the sub-genre. Apr 24, 2024
Cosmicism 80/100
The last ambient track really stirs the emotions. This is good, but nowhere near his best. It is much more consistent than In the Stillness of the Codrii. Apr 24, 2024

This album is half & half for me. The first 2 songs just don't work well; the elements feel just wrong together. I was pleased to discover how much better the second 2 songs are. It would be a shame to waste that brilliant album cover if the music was not so good, with that shocking black logo looking so profound against that false-night photograph. Tracks 3 & 4 save the day. Wow, last week was amazing with the releases. This is very good doom, and the songs have that great quality that makes just the main melody stay in your head long after listening. Fantastic album by these veterans. Apr 24, 2024

5 really distinct tracks. The 1st half of track is a lot more exciting than the 2nd half of it. That's the most negative thing I can say about this album. After all these years Melvins still have a lot to say musically, and here it's all played well. I thought I'd like it and it exceeded my expectations. Hats off. Apr 24, 2024

This album deserves its stellar reputation. I usually don't find the brutal side of tech death so enjoyable, but something about this music makes me love every second. A top-tier release, Apr 22, 2024

Good BM here. That cover art had me expecting it would be even better, but I was being silly, right? Anyway, it's a good album. Apr 21, 2024

Funny Dvne's album came out on the same day. Usually something as good as this High on Fire record would be the pick of the day. It's all really good and I feel it all throughout my body. You'll also find it goes into Sleep territory at the end. A great journey of an album. Apr 21, 2024
Cosmicism 95/100
Absolutely my pick of the week. Tons of passion while the compositions are actually mind-blowing and probably really hard to play. This band now has 3 master-tier albums, and they've only released 3 albums. They deserve a lot of credit for really caring about their craft and putting in the hard work to create albums this fantastic. Apr 21, 2024

It's just their 1st album, and it's kind of plain jane, needing more dynamism in the guitarwork. It ends up being like Minsitry but less interesting. Later albums are a gigantic improvement. Apr 21, 2024

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
