I caught a glimpse of that album cover, and just had to listen. The surprise for me was that it's a new project by some musicians we all know well. This is also my album of the day by far. The atmosphere is heavy and it feels like a tour through a series of emotional traumas. You might feel a bit of punk influence too, if the sadness doesn't camouflage it. Highly recommended for everyone. Jan 10, 2024

I love the style and it puts me in a great mood, but this is nowhere near as evocative as his awesome 2022 EP. Jan 10, 2024

A lot of guys used to make fun of Scott Weiland's vocals on this and say anyone can do that voice, but this is the start of a great journey that expanded his range, technique, and charisma. Some songs sound like Alice in Chains & Soundgarden done not as well, but many are good and full of energy. Creep is a great and rare example of a slow song done well. The drumming was better than I expected, and I enjoyed the whole album. Jan 10, 2024

Tracks 8 and 12 are okay, and track 4 is amusing, but this is mostly weak boring & embarrassing with loose instrumentation and predictable everything. The male vocalist doesn't have anywhere near enough charisma, especially with that mediocre vocal range. The female vocals are noticeably better, but she only does 5 or 6 percent of the album. Disappointing. Jan 10, 2024

First of all, this album is mostly metalcore and a lot of the tracks feel like forced clichéd filler, including the title track. The singing stays stuck in the same tone & emotion, which feels weird for clean vocals. Please take that effect off her voice as well. Track 5 is like an R&B song with hard rock in back of it, but it's maybe the best on the album. I like track 7 as well, and the rest is meh for me. Jan 10, 2024

Some good instrumentation here, but I don't hear enough melodic themes to hold the songs together and give them a purpose. The artist identifies as sludge & death doom, but it does lean toward heavy psych. Anyway, with a different plan of attack there could be a better album in the future. Jan 10, 2024

Yet another great album by Immolation. The grimness is so thick I'm left with an uncanny feeling that even the sound penetrated through it. Jan 10, 2024

This is gripping melancholic music, and the cover art is in very good taste. Jan 10, 2024

I can tell they were staying true to their musical vision. Also, its very impressive and has a great shocking feeling. I don't need all that silence near the end, but I can just hit stop, so I won't deduct any points. Jan 7, 2024

More spacious, cinematic, and unorthodox than the first part. Best when listened to in order. Jan 7, 2024

I like this more than the 2nd EP in this series. Hypnotizing but really intense. Definitely a band to to pay close attention to. Jan 7, 2024

A nice step up from the 2005 album. Some songs are good and some are so-so. Somewhat of an Alice in Chains sound, so it's quite different from the early albums. Jan 7, 2024

What an excellent album. Sick atmosphere, and the groaning that playfully breaks up the groove of the hard-hitting Quintessence makes it even more memorable, maybe my favorite track. It's all great except for the last track, which is not bad though. Perfect album cover that matches the feel of the music. I really love this record. Jan 7, 2024

This one focuses on the frigid atmosphere the genre often aspires to. Also, I liked this EP more than I thought I was going to. Jan 4, 2024

Wow, I really loved this album. It has a lot of variety for just 35 minutes, and the passion is turned up to the maximum. This 1993 classic is my pick of the day. Jan 4, 2024

This earlier album is more similar to other well-known symphonic bands such as Epica. I like how as Eleine's discography progresses, their own style becomes more & more apparent. This album however is quite solid, and Madeleine's singing is top-tier - not just voice, but delivery and real emotion. Jan 4, 2024

This one really gets into a groove. It's heavy enough and has many distinct interesting highlights. I've been putting off discovering more about this band for too long, and now I'm becoming a big fan. Jan 4, 2024

With the quiet parts and slow parts, this album requires some patience like doom often does. Anyway, it does pay off so I'm glad I had the chance to listen, but it's far from the excellence of later albums. Jan 4, 2024

Incredible. This band influenced the bands that took industrial and goth into the heavy zone, and then Killing Joke goes as heavy as the heaviest, and even angrier. Some 25-year-old bands don't pay attention when the studios tell them to start sucking. Jan 3, 2024

It's really great how this blends in with the 1985 pop sound, but it's much more subversive and well-rounded than some normies might expect at first listen. Quite different from the debut, but I enjoyed it just as much. Jan 3, 2024

Lively and playful, and a great debut. Even in 1980, post-punk achieved more variety than punk but kept 100% of the punky energy and attitude. This release seems to be very influential, and I can see why. Jan 3, 2024

When Gigachad came into existence through a shimmering portal already fully adult, he said, "Don't bother yourself with the pregnancy Mom; I'll just come out this way." There was cheering and confetti in the whole time zone. Also, the beginning of this album was somehow playing right out of thin air. Jan 3, 2024

DDDDAAAAARRRRRKK all the way through. Almost as good as 2022's, but I love both. Brilliant & purposeful new band. Jan 3, 2024

Wow, I loved this. The album is a bit stronger around the 2nd half but is still all very good. Its a great fusion of genres, and yes I feel that I could really use more Danzig-style vocal swagger and deathrock influence in current music, but then again I doubt many will do it this well. Thanks to Daniel Dekay from Banger for bringing this one to our attention. Jan 3, 2024

Tons of the solos and other guitar passages are really wonderful. As a whole album, I feel it's good / not great, but it's a top notch chill-out. Thank you Black Sky Giant! Jan 3, 2024

Bjes keeps up the same level excellent music on their full albums; that's 2 releases I'm ranking 90/100 for 2023. Again it's so melancholic, depressive, evil, and angry. The gruff vocals on this are usually for surlier music, but from Bjes that gruff voice is melancholic despite the vocal tone. It's all these deeply sad melodies that make everything work so well.

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
