I enjoyed this one a bit more than Manifest. There is a lot of great moments, and I especially love Serendipity. On a couple of songs, the riffs feel not dynamic enough, but maybe that's just me. More certainly, the 3 vocalists sometimes leave the songs too crowded with rushed singing. Many singers can be cool, but it needs to be balanced right or the flow of the song suffers. A couple of complaints, but still quite good. Jan 2, 2024

Good variety in melody and feeling but all kept within the dark satanic atmosphere, and the album title really brightens my day. If Belphegor continues scaring everyone's parents for as long as teenagers want, then these musicians will need to make a deal with the devil for eternal life to keep up the evil work. Dec 30, 2023

I tried hard to like this album, but I failed. The best I could do was to feel like some parts were 'okay.' I can't say any particular moment is terrible, but most of the time I was rolling my eyes and waiting for it to be over. I agree it's better than Violence Unimagined. Dec 30, 2023

I've found that there's not much war metal out there, but there's still a lot of good war metal. And this album really blew my mind. The chaotic fast parts and the dark mid-slow parts complement each other perfectly. The drumming is so astounding I could barely believe I was hearing it. I can't say enough good things about this one. Dec 30, 2023

First of all, I really like this music and how basing it on a survival horror video game makes it memorable and entertaining. Some negative points though - the base drops muffle the other instruments for a second or so. Also, some of the voice acting is amateurish. Even considering those downsides, I still enjoy the whole album. The vocals are performed right, and the instrumentation is a blast. Dec 30, 2023

This grungy and extremely catchy album is Alice-in-Chains-worship, and proudly so, and it's done well. Track 1 just does not leave brain. Dec 30, 2023

Rather good, and now I'm curious about earlier releases from these stoner veterans. Dec 30, 2023

Good thrash. There is some grungy alternative metal on here too, kinda following the fad, if a bit late, but it's done well too. Nothing I feel is great, and nothing terrible. Pretty good. Dec 28, 2023

Almost as good as their 2016 album. There's very good melancholy, and it gets slightly into post-black metal territory some times. Then there's some Spanish guitar. Very good all around. Dec 28, 2023

I don't care that I've already listened to albums with that same painting on the cover. Why not? Anyway, this is straight black metal done right. Also, people studying Anglo-Saxon get some practice. Black metal fans should not miss out on this one. Dec 28, 2023

Good bluesy stoner metal with a rough production sound that I really like. Dec 28, 2023

It sounds like they're playing in a long narrow hallway with sheets of metal covering the walls. Besides the bad recording, this is a very good thrash album with exquisite riffs and tons of passion, and it's all well written. Even the ballad is flawless. Good job by Testament. Dec 28, 2023

Slightly better than the 2022 album because this one feels bigger and more of a journey despite having almost the same running time. I wish so many tracks didn't fade out; it starts getting annoying. Anyway, the melodies and hypnotic nature of this album are astounding, and the outro track is a surprising treat with it's jazzy character. Dec 28, 2023

Man, Barker's drumming is fantastic on this album! At some points it's more like plain symphonic metal as opposed to symphonic BM, which must anger some trve kvlt people. Anyway, the symphonic element is good, the Twisted Sister cover brings a smile to my face, and everything else is either good or great. Dec 28, 2023

It looks like Neurosis gets a lot less attention in recent years, but this most recent album is really solid & pleasing to my ears. Some mid-career albums are better, but I give a definite positive review to Fires Within Fires. Dec 28, 2023

I started listening and said to myself, 'People should stop saying NIN's music can be so challenging; this is just satisfying music in a rich soundscape.' Then it started to get extremely challenging, especially with how the EP ends, but yes I really loved it. Dec 25, 2023

Good slam I had the pleasure of listening to. To be honest, I'm surprised this sub-genre has been so good to me lately, but maybe Slam Worldwide is leading me to all the best examples of the style. Anyway, definitely put this on your stereo if those evil aliens come to experiment on you. Dec 25, 2023

Some of the lyrics and song titles feel sophomoric to me, but the riffs and the flow of the songs are just great, and this makes for a powerful album that leaves a bunch of its melodies in my head for the rest of the day. This is a solo project by a member of Borgne, and here he focuses on a very different type of BM, and I'm glad chooses not to be in a rut. Also, good cover art and a master-tier logo. Dec 25, 2023

I liked the variety on this album, and I find it pretty good quality, but nothing here is exhilarating like their 1992 album. Dec 25, 2023

I came here looking for deathgrind, but I only hear old school death metal with film score interludes. However, I liked the whole record. Dec 25, 2023

This is war metal with some noise as well. These genres are done very well here, so there's cacophony & insanity. I highly recommend this EP to fans of One Direction and BTS so I can howl with maniacal laughter as I watch them squirm in pure horror & disgust. Dec 25, 2023

This atmospheric black metal project switched gears here and did a general overview of BM sub-genres. It leans toward early second-wave songwriting and tone, but there's a little atmospheric BM, and at some points the synth is used in a more symphonic-sounding way. Not as exciting as their 2022 albums, but still good. Dec 25, 2023

There's a definite progression in quality throughout this band's career. Though this 2nd album is not perfect (some weak lyrics and song structures in a few places), it's listenable all the way through and it has tons of emotion, especially thanks to Lena the vocalist. Also note that her charisma and vocal power are even better these days. Dec 25, 2023

Wonderful feelings in this album. Sometimes, I felt like the songs should've been longer, but maybe that's just my preference. Anyway, Widek is a consistent artist, and his guitarwork makes a direct connection to my emotions. Very well done. Dec 25, 2023

Rather unique and pretty good. For as rich as the narrator's voice is, I can't help but feel that his Cockney accent is kind of anachronistic with that θ-f merger, which some people would be bound to laugh at. Anyway, I can ignore that fact and just enjoy the delightful tale of Armageddon. Dec 21, 2023

Slightly better than Abîmes I. Here it's great funeral doom that shifts into death doom a few times. This adds great variety in tone & tempo and is a major part of why such a long album works so well. Dec 21, 2023

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
