Good short EP. It's a lush bluesy stoner sound, I think with Pantera influence especially on the vocals. It's hard to make music as nice as that album cover, but I commend their effort. Sep 18, 2022

Good album, and I'm glad to be introduced to this band. It's a very even blend of black metal & death metal. There's also some thrashy riffing which apparently harkens to their earlier albums. Also some symphonic elements. That's a lot of influences but it works together well & naturally by real pro musicians. Definitely going to listen again. Sep 17, 2022

Were you like me? Were you about to accuse Deadlife of ripping off Hermóðr? They're the same guy so........ Anyway it does get a little repetitive: it's too much of the same beat. It does have nice moments and I can't say it anything sounds bad. Not so depressive really. Pleasing melodies. Sep 17, 2022

This man is really showing something deep down in his blackened soul with the timing, melodies, and especially the vocal performance. This is so crackling and raw, and depressive to some degree, and the atmosphere grabs full hold of my attention. It's like the sound didn't even go into my ears but soaked right into my chest. I'm glad this artist released such a nice and long album. It's great for getting in a trance. I guess the next level for Black Sky Giant is to get some crazy nimble complex parts in there. Anyway, this is still super pleasant. Sep 16, 2022

Brilliant debut here. Did anyone hear some Polyphia and say, 'I want that but heavier'? Well this album sounds like the answer you're looking for. Good and bluesy at times, and then it shifts right into proggy layered stuff, sometimes very ethereal, and then time to tap your foot again. Sep 16, 2022

All instrumental and played so well. With the first track, I feel they're just making something similar to Tool, and I don't hear the passion in it. For the rest of the album, I think their hearts are in it and it sounds truly beautiful. Dr. Moth stood out for me as an awesome track, but the whole thing is very impressive. Sep 16, 2022

Thrash metal still has some great stuff coming out in 2022. Full of punky confrontation and confidence you can feel. Definitely these 4 guys were in a zone when they recorded this album. It's time for Arsena to get some attention. Sep 16, 2022

Wow. This album is exactly what's great about black metal. It's so D.I.Y. and lo-fi, and it's just a one-man-band, but the enjoyment you can get from these songs is so high quality. Field recordings get an A+. The last song is my favorite. Also, good luck to this musician as he builds his fictional world through music. Sep 16, 2022

I really like this one. It maintains an album sound and unifying emotions of pain and despair, but the drumming balances it out with accents and licks. It doesn't get busy or complicated though; so you remain in a stripped-down black metal environment. Sep 16, 2022

This group deserves credit for being unique. They sound as weird as the album cover. It's mostly symphonic gothic metal with little bits of industrial influence and some old school heavy metal. The black metal is only in the brutal vocals, not in the instrumentation at all. Anyway, very dramatic and plain fun. Sep 16, 2022

!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great synergy from an amazing singer and a band who knows exactly how to play what sounds great in combination with his vocals. Sep 16, 2022

Some good songs, but too many slow songs. Also, the awesome heavy riffing doesn't match too well with the very record-label songwriting. I like Dreamer though, and Can You Hear Them? surprised me with it's energy. Sep 16, 2022

Wow. I never would've guessed this early album would remind me so much of Pantera. I wonder if this was an influence on Static-X... Anyway, it's good heavy adrenaline-filled music even though their signature style is not fully there yet. Sep 16, 2022

This album sounds the way she smells. I feel like these guys can go up a level with their virtuosity, definitely so with singing. The songwriting is solid and their stylistic sense is great. I look forward to more in the future. Sep 15, 2022

Not exactly the sound I thought it was going to be. This has a fun mix of blackened death metal, heavy metal, and sometimes suddenly progressive metal or alternative rock. I feel it's mostly death metal. It's full of frantic energy. Kinda too brutal for my preference, but it definitely sounds well played. Sep 14, 2022

Trippy in the best possible way. Musicianship sounds pretty high level to me. There should be more instrumental bands. That's what I think when I listen to Lambda. Sep 14, 2022

Very classic & evil sound played well and recorded kinda hi-fi with just enough lo-fi fuzz to make it feel dangerous. Sep 14, 2022

I love this first album by this new band. The sound is as thick as possible. The vocalists harsh vocals are better than his clean ones, but the clean ones are pretty unique, which helps make their sound interesting. After listening to this release, I instantly tried to find more albums by them. I hope they'll release more soon. Sep 14, 2022

Lustre tried some higher tech recording facilities and used them masterfully. The last track is the strongest for me, and the whole album was a great buildup to the field recordings at the end that put a wide smile on my face. Sep 14, 2022

Folk and maybe pagan vibes on this. Also, those vibes are very good and can help your mood. I don't find any part astounding, but it's a nice long album that doesn't slow or weaken anywhere. Sep 14, 2022

Nice atmospheres throughout, and grows more powerful as it works towards it's conclusion. Good stuff from one of the members of Luna Pythonissam. Sep 13, 2022

Doom like no one else can do. This album burns even hotter than the album cover. Everybody sounds great, and Wilk's drumming works perfectly with the masters. There's a version with bonus tracks, but those tracks aren't quite as astounding as the rest. Anyway, this one joins Sabbath's best albums from the 70s. Sep 13, 2022

I used to play this album on repeat shuffle so often for years, and the more times I heard it the more I appreciated it. The first half of the album is better than most music out there, and the starting with the title track it gets even 3 or 4 times better. For me, this album is legendary. Sep 13, 2022

Thick and sick. I kinda feel like I'm hearing Cult of Luna play a Meshuggah song, yes because there are some somewhat djenty parts. It's hypnotizing while angrily plodding through the sludge of a quagmire. There's also a kind of peacefulness to it. Very good album by a great band. Sep 12, 2022

Powerful album here. It takes time for the emotion of these songs to really hit me, but since they're all 4 or 5 minutes it doesn't take much time. It's a lot packed into a short song. Good blending of atmospheric, depressive, and it even has classic 2nd wave. The high yelping of despair is surely not for everyone. It's not the vocals I'm looking for, but it fits the songs perfectly so I can enjoy it. Sep 12, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
