Roaring comeback from Paradox that is just as strong as their 80's output. Fantastic Thrash with some great lyricism as well. Jan 11, 2025

Simple Viking/Black Metal, raw and aggressive, epic and dark. Good stuff. Jan 11, 2025

It's alright. Mago de Oz are like... the slowest improving band ever. Each release gets stronger by a tiny amount. Hopefully one day they will graduate from good to very good. Jan 9, 2025

Some people treat this album like the second coming of traditional Metal Jesus. Sure, it came out in a time when traditional Metal was yesterday's news, so it's got cult value and legacy. Bu really, it's just above average in terms of quality, riffs, songwriting, drumming, etc... Jan 9, 2025

Really, it's just boring. It's supposedly Progressive, but they never do anything interesting. Not that it's bad.... but I'd never have the desire to listen to these songs again. Jan 9, 2025

Another Incantation, another album filled with cavernous chaotic insanity. Impressive, ominous, crushing, but I can't remember any specific moments. Jan 9, 2025

Wonderful stuff. Darkseed had been a solid but rather run-of-the-mill Gothic band before now. But this album solidified a unique sound as well as a band that had finally mastered crafting catchiness within their dreary, melodramatic dark Metal. Jan 9, 2025

One of Chastain's most uninspired albums. It has a few pretty great riffs here and there, but it's nothing we haven't heard him do better before. Jan 9, 2025

Definitely the band's crowning achievement, and "One Armed Scissor" is certainly one for the books, but I still find this record overrated. Jan 9, 2025

Very boring Stoner/Sludge. Relies mostly on fuzzy feedback textures and psychedelic weirdness to carry it. Neither are done particularly well nor are they entertaining for a focused listen. Jan 8, 2025

Not sure why Thursday is on this website, but... their debut is definitely their weakest effort. It's still passable for sure, and the second track "This Side of Brightness" is a shining moment that can stand against anything they ever did, but most of this album is still the band stumbling to find their sound. Jan 8, 2025

Followed is a fantastic stand out track, and the only song on the album with any Doom influence. The rest is pretty standard Stoner fare. Jan 8, 2025

Post-Hardcore Metalcore played competently, but the songs are entirely forgettable. Jan 8, 2025

A superbly... fun... Death Doom album, sounding way too jovial for the genre thanks to the Folk influences. Cheesy silliness almost ruins it, but it's undeniably entertaining with some genuinely great melodies here and there. Jan 8, 2025

Kind of a mess of styles revolving around Extreme Metal, but I think it's rather underrated. An interesting and fun listen all the way through. Jan 8, 2025

Quite an interesting piece of Industrial Metal that has a ton of noisy, almost droning atmosphere that works to it's advantage. Another unique endeavor in the band's discography, even if all the shots don't exactly land. Jan 8, 2025

An extremely bizarre release that manages to succeed on just about all fronts. Strong compositions, nicely layered keys and synths, good balance of aggression and mood. Great stuff! Jan 8, 2025

Solid Stoner Metal. As someone who isn't normally the biggest fan of this style, I can see it's a quality release. Jan 8, 2025

Very standard but satisfactory 2nd wave Black Metal. No complaints. Jan 8, 2025

I mean, when the best part of your album is a cover of a much better band because you changed absolutely nothing, you know you took a wrong turn somewhere. Jan 8, 2025

Some incredible riffs and manic energy found here. But just as much circus nonsense. I hate humor in my Metal, so this essentially sabotages itself. It's fun, don't get me wrong. But I'd like it a lot more i taken a bit more seriously. Jan 8, 2025

Living Sacrifice add a ton of Groove and a little bit of Djent influence to their new Metalcore sound. As someone who doesn't like the rhythmic sensibilities of either genre... it was a miss for me. However, there are some genuinely great moments, especially when they use clean vocals to craft some nice choruses. The vast boring chugs just ruin it for me. Jan 8, 2025

Quite boring Stoner Metal, there are sparse sections that actually have a tiny bit of Thrash influence that are better, but most of it is dull, uninspired riffing made for burnouts. Jan 8, 2025

Vintersorg leave behind their Folk/Viking Metal sound for a much spacier, Blackened Progressive Metal flavor. Interesting transition, and they succeed at it here. Jan 8, 2025

Hamlet are fine, but even 5 albums in, they haven't found a very unique or exciting sound. Just rather average Nu Metal. El Inferno is good for fans of the genre. Jan 8, 2025

"No Sympathy" is a fantastic track. Nothing else compares to it, making this album just decent. But still, that's a fair enough achievement for a debut album. Jan 8, 2025

Quite pedestrian Grindcore from Japan. Not much about this release to set it apart from others, though it's not terrible for the genre or anything, just unremarkable. And I will say, unpleasant for one who is not a big fan of the genre. Jan 8, 2025

Incredible album, and all the more impressive considering their debut wasn't overly outstanding. The melodic riffing on here is on par with any of the big names in the genre. The slight Gothic influences at times adds fantastic melancholic atmosphere. Jan 8, 2025

Eyehategod's brand of Industrial Sludge just doesn't work for me. Too abrasive and repetitive. Jan 8, 2025

Slight step up from previous material as the songs are much more consistent. Still, nothing here grabs me in the slightest, it's simply inoffensive. Jan 7, 2025

3 days ago

Great classic album with incredible songs like "The Evil That Men do","Moonchild" or "The Clairvoyant". Mar 4, 2025

Mar 10, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

Very good album by Dream Theater. As always Mar 4, 2025

The "Ram It Down" is a very underrated album, but in 1988 in the german Metal Hammer looked like a new classic by the soundcheck.Otherwise the "Ram it Down" and the "Hard As Iron"(with thundering riff) are great fast classic Priest songs. All in all i think only the "Love Zone" is the only one problematic song and the Lp is great.. Mar 8, 2025
