Led Zeppelin 입문용으로 딱 적합한 앨범. Mothership 베스트 앨범은 거의 대부분의 Led Zeppelin의 명곡들을 두 장의 CD에 꾹꾹 눌러담은 베스트 앨범이다. Led Zeppelin의 팬의 시각으로 봤을 때 물론 완전무결한 베스트 앨범은 결코 아니다. 개인적으로 베스트 앨범은 리스너 본인이 만드는 거라고 생각한다. 그러다보니 이 베스트 앨범의 선곡에는 소소한 불만이 없을 수는 없다. 그래도 여타 밴드들의 베스트 앨범에 비한다면 Mothership은 양반이긴 하지만, 팬의 입장에서는 아쉽기 그지없다. 1집부터 4집까지의 수록곡에 대해서는 할 말이 없다. 아마도 대부분의 Led Zeppelin 팬들도 Disc 1 분량에는 할 말이 없지 않을까 싶을 정도로 선곡을 잘 했다. 개인적으로 무척 아끼는 Going To California가 빠진 것은 아쉽게 생각되지만, 이는 충분히 납득할 수 있다. 불만이 생기는 부분은 Disc 2 부분이다. Houses of the Holy 앨범에서 The Rain Song이 빠진 것은 에러라고 생각한다. 그러나 정말 불만으로 가득한 부분은 Physical Graffiti에서 선곡한 목록들이다. Led Zeppelin 평론가나 팬들이 꼽는 명곡인 In My Time Of Dying, Ten Years Gone이 빠진 것은 실수로 생각될 정도이다. 또 하드록 넘버로 고평가를 받은 바 있었던 The Rover도 실려 있지 않는데, 이것도 이 앨범을 구성하고 있는 불만 ... See More

이 앨범은 첫번째 리마스터링 된 소스의 컴필 앨범이다. 당시에는 앨범마다 모을 생각은 없었기에 이 앨범을 샀다. 컴필로서는 큰 문제가 없다고 생각한다. 2014년에 지미페이지가 직접 리마스터링하여서 정규앨범들을 재작업하였던 것에 반해 이 때는 프로듀싱만을 맡았다.
