그 전작들과 비교하면 상당히 팝적으로 바뀐 사운드. 사실 이 기점으로 해서 메가데스의 사운드에 영향을 주지 않았나 싶다. 전반적으로 음악이 나쁘지는 않은데, 기존 사운드와 확연히 달라져서 이질감이 강함

전작들에서 뿜어져 나오던 동양의 아우라는 사라지고, 심심한 멜로디들과 몇몇 보컬곡으로 채워진 작품. 일본반과 미국반이 약간 차이가 있는데, 일단 트랙순서가 조금씩 다르고, 일본반에는 Thunder March 가 빠진 대신 Shine on Me 와 Hands of Time 라는 곡이 들어있습니다. 화려한 스케일의 연주야 뭐 워낙 기깔나게 하는 양반이고, Farewell 의 피아노 선율이 아름답습니다.

In True Obsessions, Marty continues showing us his unique sound. However, compared to his previous works, this album is quite worse. The instrumentals and guitar solos are mainly great, but I think that the lyrics are cheesy and generic. The vocals are average, though. Note: a Japanese edition was released the same year in which there are two additional tracks: Shine on Me & Hands of Time.
