It sounds like a mixture of black metal and metal core. It's not new, but it's unique. It's much better than a black metal band with sounds like Gaera, Uada, Groza.

Totally agree with you :) The avant-garde features have rarely been spotted in the entire album. Having said that in my comment on this album, it is not an impressive release when it comes to structure. That's why you thought that it did not sound fresh I guess. The highly addictive riffs, on the other hand, have supplemented the unfreshness.

It was the era of Nu Metal when I was a teenager. So it was so natural that fell in love with metal through that genre. Korn and Deftones were the two bands that stood out for me back then. I like the way Chino Moreno manifests an unhinged and gloomy mood through this voice.
