One of the first of all DSBM-bands to venture away from Black Metal altogether and embrace other genres like Post-Rock, Post-Punk and Shoegaze. The influences from Amesoeurs are not apparent and Apati doesn’t use distortion and is more spaced out and not that fast-paced compared to Amesoeurs. Apati confronts Post-Rock with extended song structures that puts the listener almost in a trance and a passive-aggresive feel reminiscent of Post-Punk on the drums and they hit crescendo-core moments in Kemisk Kärlek, Lämna Mig Ifred, Jag Älskar Dig, Syndafloden, Allt Är Sig Likt and Total Avsaknad Av Glädje which is almost the entire album. The songs have faster tempo compared to most Post-Rock and they use spoken-word-like speaking, sampling from weird Swedish movies, soft crooning and cry-screaming while drunk. All the songs here have Christian Larsson as doing all the composing, soft speaking in Syndafloden and vocal parts in Kemisk Kärlek, Jag Älskar Dig where he screams at the end, Total Avsaknad av Glädje with screaming at the end and Morgondagen, Obehag that screams while drunk and speaking in Syndafloden, Sludge-inspired I Förträngda Minnens Sällskap and Total Avsaknad Av Glädje and C9H13N known as David Jansson as lyricist in I Förträngda Minnens Sällskap and Allt Är Sig likt and does some screams in Morgondagen. Their goal was to put depressive thoughts in droney jangly guitars with delay, frantic drumming with cymbal-smashing and monotone bass and song-structures which puts the lyrics forward and the instrumental following it like Hypothermia, and it worked but that made them isolated from the DSBM-crowd which they wanted for wanting to be their own thing and not copying other bands. Their impact can be felt on the band Gråtfärdig. Their influences could have ranged from Sigur Rós with the auquatic sounds of Syndafloden, Indie-Rock and Post-Punk-Revival from Bloc Party and Interpol, Classical Music with Apati’s piano intro, the use of layering guitars like in Post-Rock from Slowdive’s Pygmalion and Mono with Christian Larsson wearing a Mono shirt. It had average and sometimes negative reviews when it came out because they didn’t know why Apati would drastically change their sound into a brighter sound and also a gloomier sound but the band was seeking inspiration elsewhere and making music that is borderling on various genres to become indepedant and Christian Larsson switching genres to a more Indie Post-Rock sound which is found in his band Svart with the album Förlorad. With Christian Larsson left the band July 2010 to tour with Shining and Obehag dying from a methadone overdose July 23rd 2011, it seemed to be a young band disbanded for eternity which was the case, they still have impact on Christian Larssons other band Gloson which has a depressive mood present.
