Scar Symmetry – The Singularity (Phase II - Xenotaph) (2023) | 100/100 Jun 14, 2023
The instrumentation and arrangements are incredible. The contrast between the harsh and clean vocals is just excellent as well. These guys show that after (too) long of a time, they are still on top of their game. Scar Symmetry has perfectly captured a "sci-fi" melodic death sound on this album. Crank this album and read Dune or something should make for a wonderful evening.

Ebony Tears – Tortura Insomniae (1997) | 100/100 May 18, 2023
These guys deserve more. Melodic death metal with melody lines often played by a violin? That's pretty unique. They have a great classic melodeath sound with arrangements that set them apart from their peers.

Green Lung – Black Harvest (2021) | 100/100 May 11, 2023
Damn, these guys need to have a bigger following than they do. What a killer heavy metal album. Ripping solos, chunky and groovy riffs, and organs. Do yourself a favour a crank this one.

Cavalera Conspiracy – Psychosis (2017) | 100/100 Apr 13, 2023
One of the best groove metal albums I've ever heard. Max and Iggor Cavalera and gifts to the world from the metal gods

Shadow of Intent – Elegy (2022) | 95/100 Mar 28, 2023
A previous comment of mine suggested I wasn't generally a deathcore fan but that the particular album I commented on may have changed my mind... This album fully changed my mind—no more hesitation. Shadow of Intent has made me a deathcore fan.

Silver Lake by Esa Holopainen – Silver Lake by Esa Holopainen (2020) | 100/100 Mar 28, 2023
So good. I am glad that Esa got the chance to fully develop some of the ideas that were outside of the Amorphis vision, because this is just fantastic.
