트랙리스트를 확인하지않고 음악을 들으며 무슨곡인지 스스로 맞춰보면서 나름의 재미를 만끽했던 작품입니다. 물론 중반부의 하드코어 펑크 커버 연발에서는 전혀 모르는 원곡에 감도 잡지 못했습니다. 이전 보컬들이 부른 곡들이 있어, 세명의 보컬을 비교해볼수도 있겠습니다만, 커버는 대체로 원곡에 충실해서 그다지 신선하게 느끼거나 하지는 않았습니다.

실망스러웠다. 개인적으로 최선의 커버곡은 원곡의 느낌을 살리면서 밴드의 스타일을 접목시키는 것이고, 차선은 원곡의 느낌이라도 그대로 표현하는 것이라고 생각한다. 하지만, 이 앨범에서는(특히 앞부분) 원곡의 느낌을 뭉개버리고, 분위기만 어둡게 표현해서 원곡의 느낌도, 아치에너미 특유의 멜로디라인도 모두 살리지 못했다.

Arch Enemy의 커버곡 모음집. 대다수 곡들이 기존에 보너스트랙등으로 실렸던것들이지만, 1CD 24트랙으로 꽉꽉 모아놓은것만으로도 값어치가 있다. 신곡인 1번트랙 Shout에서는 Jeff loomis의 향기가 나서 재미있게 들었다. 요한릴바-안젤라고소우-알리사로 이어지는 3대 보컬의 목소리를 한번에 들을수 있는건 덤이다.

기대가 큰만큼 실망도 크다고 했던가. arch enemy도 heaven shall burn 의 black tears와 같은 원곡을 초월하는 곡이 나오길 바랬다. arch enemy 의 특유의 멜로디와 정통 헤비메탈의 리프가 어울어 진다면 무슨 느낌일까 기대했다. 실망이었다. 80년대 헤비메탈의 투박하고 반복적인 느낌의 리프는 AE의 멜로디를 살려주지 못하였고 디스토션 사운드는 피로감만 증가시켰다.
