I learned this is 4 of their pre-existing songs, now made to sound very 1983 by switching them to a synthwave and new wave style. I don't like the way they write choruses, and the singing suffers from being commercial in approach. Also, if you're not as old as Ozzy, just skip all those FX & editing with the vocals please. I give it an average rating, but actually the production is pretty awesome instrumentally but the songwriting is weak, so I split the difference. Oct 25, 2022

Chilly & evil songs with a nicely-done lo-fi sound. Rather traditional, though through melody it gets pretty atmospheric here & there without being within Atmospheric BM as a genre (also no synth etc.) Gratifying & great to go walking to. Oct 24, 2022

Thank you Metal Kingdom. You help me find more good djent, like this fun energetic album. Oct 24, 2022

I love the bounciness of this album. Also, the way these songs shift suddenly between contrasting movements works extremely well, which didn't work well at all on St. Anger. A problem on Death Magnetic is that some lyrics have awkward wording, but this is an extremely replayable album. Oct 24, 2022

Lots and lots of fun on this electronica & djent album. The Algorithm is very dependable. Oct 23, 2022

The dankness is here, but not as gloriously as their 2021 album. Oct 23, 2022

A good instrumental album with some Tool influence. At some points it reminds me a little of Cult of Luna, though that similarity might be more coincidental. At a couple points, I feel the songs spend too much time with just the rhythm section. However, every time I listen to it, I'm left feeling in a great mood. Definitely good and playful music. Very rich sound. It's almost a one-man band, except he has a session drummer. He goes for a modern feel. I like being in the woods with black metal, but variety is cool, right? Oct 23, 2022

This artist is new to me, and this album is really impressive. Be forewarned; this band specializes in dissonance. The end result of this dissonance is a busy rich and full sound, like the aggression they let out bounces off the walls and creates a chilly blackened maelstrom. Noice. Oct 23, 2022
Cosmicism 100/100
These guys owe us all a serious apology for ending their album of such astounding music at 30 minutes. The 1st track starts off like blackened doom, which is a blast if you were just listening to a doom album before it. Riffs, vocals, songwriting, everything is so strong on this. A major highlight of this year. Oct 23, 2022

The fuzzy riffs of doom will soak your body and leave your soul as dank as cave, and somehow you'll be wearing more leather that just came out of nowhere. Really glad I found this band. Oct 21, 2022

Raw & atmospheric aren't enough for this album. There are gregorian chants and folk arias between tracks. As you might be guessing, it's bleak, eerie, and freezing. I think one scream in the first half somewhere was a little awkward. Besides that, everything is well written and well played, especially for a debut from a one-man band. Oct 21, 2022

My pick of the day. Besides too much silence between tracks, this is a near perfect album with a nasty thick sound and horrifying atmosphere. The album cover could not be better. An unforgettable experience. Oct 21, 2022

It has lots of groove and a good atmosphere. I feel like passion is kind of missing, like it's more technical than emotional. Still good though, and the cover artwork's theme is noice. Oct 21, 2022
Cosmicism 85/100
There's a lot of fun in the screeching darkness on this album, and some stunning riffs here & there. I find the songwriting a little uneven, and sometimes vocal melodies are a skosh bland. For me, not so near perfection, but definitely good and enjoyable. Oct 21, 2022

This has a very impressive feeling of dread, and the word Corridors fits this sound so perfectly. The vocals detract from the quality to a degree. The low rumbling voice is not audible enough, like I can't feel the voice. Of course I didn't expect to discern any lyrics, but I want to feel the voice, and I think it's composed like we should get a message from these vocals. Other than that, it's very good. Oct 21, 2022

A suprergroup of 3 veterans (including Ancient Wisdom) gives us a total commitment to straight black metal. This is riff-paradise in the fires of hell. Well written and seething with attitude and so gratifying. I feel like if I break into a crypt now these guys will be playing in it and I can just hang out and watch. Oct 20, 2022

It's reassuring how people in Malaysia can get away with making such demonic music. This is a good album that revels in the classic 90s sound. At a couple of points I felt like the vocalist wasn't introducing enough tension and emotion. Overall, still a solid album. It's best aspect for me is the tremolo picking. Oct 20, 2022

First of all, that album cover, even if you erased the ants, is a great image to match with the title, making the paradox actually prove possible. Musically, it's all good and progressively fun, until the end where it's friggin' genius as all bloody heck. It's like the very long songs challenge the guys enough to force out there deity-level virtuosity and composing skills. Those last two tracks are astounding. Oct 20, 2022

Extremely consistent with good music from the start until the end. Great compositions and great vocals. I find so many singers who take a real angry surly approach lack variation and just sing too much as well. Not the case here. Havukruunu triumphant as usual. Oct 20, 2022

While the instruments tell of massive drama and the passing of time, the vocals are frantic with despair, suffering, & deep feelings that might have no words in most languages. I've been telling myself to give this one a real listen for so many months, and I finally got to it on a day filled with albums at this inhumanly high tier. Lucky me. Oct 20, 2022

Very very good album buy the Katatonia guys who had high level musical skills since the early years. I learned that this album is death doom, but I didn't expect the driving beats that show up at many points in the record, nor did I expect those driving beats to work so well. Also, at one point they slip into that smooth gothic metal that I thought started in the 2000s. Really glad I tried this one out. Oct 20, 2022

Is this more awesome techy intricacy than the human mind can handle? Suddenly Latin music? Can I stop asking questions? Yes, because the answer lies in this extremely enjoyable album. Oct 20, 2022

Tons of excellent music with an emotional weight that left me reeling. I feel like some songs in the first half have too many brutal breakdowns and pauses. It would be better if these were rarer special moments. Pain Remains I, II, & III are certifiably masterpiece tier. Oct 20, 2022

Gorgeous & invigorating power metal with true vocal heroics and guitarwork that blows my mind at some points. It also has a really nice ambush of black metal influence in the last song. By the way, is Brittney the one who unleashes the archers and the other bandmates are the archers? Oct 20, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024
