What an exceptional release this is... This album stands as a testament to the band’s ability to push the boundaries of death metal, creating a work that is as intellectually engaging as it is sonically devastating. The album’s intricate compositions and technical prowess are matched by its innovative approach to the genre, making it a standout release that will undoubtedly influence future generations of extreme metal musicians. It's good to see King's return to the thrash metal scene with a sound reminiscent of his work with Slayer. I anticipated a strong solo debut that retains the ferocity of his Slayer days while carving out his own identity, but he failed to fulfil my anticipation. One-dimensional sounding tracks with a lack of innovation are disappointing. This release heavily relies on clichéd thrash metal tropes. This musical adherence to genre conventions will please die-hard thrash fans. May 28, 2024

It is an average-quality stoner/sludge effort. The overall ambience reminds me of Mastodon to a certain extent. Its robust riffs, dynamic pace changes, and atmospheric blend of heavy and quieter acoustic sections are quite interesting, but not impressive. May 28, 2024

This album showcases a quite nice blend of progressive metal and melodic hooks. With intricate guitar work, dynamic rhythms, and emotive vocals, the album takes listeners on a journey through themes of struggle, redemption, and self-discovery. However, I think that this release fails to display modern progressive metal that deserves recognition among the genre's well-made works. May 28, 2024

This debut release delves into themes of mental strife with a raw and vivid intensity. The band's blend of heavy post-hardcore riffs and melodic elements creates a sound that is both unsettling and somewhat captivating. Overall, this release is a quite bold move as a newcomer to the scene, but not a satisfactory move for my standard. May 28, 2024
Metal Addiction 70/100
This album is a relentless auditory assault, combining the fury of punk with the extremity of black metal. Some tracks set a frantic pace, while the title track offers dramatic tempo shifts. The vocals are caustic and atmospheric, adding depth to the chaotic instrumentation. Overall, it is an unrepentant and blasphemous release and reminds me of Napalm Death. Fans who love devilish ambience would love this release even though it is a bit abrasive and monotonous for my taste. May 28, 2024

This album is an intense and raw hardcore album. it showcases the band's powerful energy and dynamic songwriting. The album blends hardcore punk with metalcore elements, featuring heavy breakdowns, blistering guitar riffs, and guttural vocals. It's a relentless, cathartic experience, reflecting themes of struggle and resilience. Fans of raw heavy music will appreciate its unfiltered intensity and the band's commitment to their craft. It is a bodacious metalcore album in a flamboyant proggy and extreme outfit. Fans like me were worried about the change of vocal duty before the release of TWIQH's sophomore effort. But it was an unfounded fear. The musical synthesis of prog, death and metalcore has successfully been moulded by an incredible musicianship in this album, being evocative of Colors album of BTBAM. Especially Heliacal Vessels: I and II are the pinnacle of progressive metalcore awesomeness. Jan 29, 2024

What a release it is. It is a shame that it is just an EP, not a full-length album. This EP contains all the features that death metal maniacs have been looking for. Coarse and searing vocals, hammer-pummelling drums, cacophonous variations and addictive but evil-inspired hooks are all apparent in this release, which makes me have tremendous expectations for Goetia's full-length debut album in the future. Modern avant-garde progressive metal demands a lot in terms of skills. That is why it is hard to find bands who successfully blend their proggy technics in the realm of avant-garde awesomeness. This album is the paragon of the unsuccessful formula of mingling prog-metal with avant-garde metal. The poorly produced instrumental circus in this album gives the indirect listening experience that you would have if you were in hell. Jan 25, 2024
Metal Addiction 50/100
The most obtrusive peculiarity of this album is the vocals with a nasally lower register, reverberating snarls and occasional falsetto. The outrageous and un-charming vocal control makes this album sound ludicrous. The concept of this album is also preposterous. The goofy lyrics hinder listeners from intertwining with the alien theme. I know that we have 11 months to go for 2025. But, I am sure that this release is the biggest shamble of this year. The band has done a good job of blending different musical elements in a classy way. Each track has heavier and lighter sections modulated by the dynamics of vocals and the sophisticated use of instruments. Structure-wise, it sounds a bit formulaic due to the too many middle sections led by the piano or synth, which seems to be aimed by the band to make a musical contrast in sound. In short, this album sounds like well-polished pop music that wears a metal outfit. Jan 24, 2024

This album boasts the unorthodox balance of musical concoction between proggy death metal and thrash metal. There are no generic or overly intricate riff structures. This album is the epitome of the instrumental masterclass, considering its well-balanced technicality. Nevertheless, all the tracks are a bit short to my taste. The advancement in structure is required to release a masterpiece next time because of the lack of variability in tempo and rhythm. Jan 23, 2024

This album is the triumph of production which makes the band look like a successful revivalist of Nu Metal. Structure-wise, this album sounds akin to KoRn and Slipknot. A bit of Limp Bizkit influences come to mind in some tracks. Without considering the quality of production, It's not an impressive work, probably below-average quality, from the perspective of musicality due to the lack of originality. But the fans of Nu Metal would appreciate this album due to their nostalgia Jan 23, 2024

It is a good crime-inspired black metal album with a soft production. Some tracks offer lyrical and campy musical experiences through the adoption of synths. The slick approach to combining death metal with post-punk and groove metal elements deserves to be praised by some listeners. The title track, 殺人室 (The Killing Room), provides the most thrilling moments in this album. Overall, this album has shown their potential to get better in their next one. Jan 23, 2024

At the Plates, the US death metal trio, described their music as 'Culinary death metal for the hungry metalhead.' I think it is a bodacious gimmick to have the attention of the metalheads. In a nutshell, the concept of the album is more interesting than the music itself. Jan 21, 2024

Narzissus is one of the metal projects that Erech Leleth is leading. This full-length debut has some 'tonally ambitious' moments in track 3 and 5 by adopting the musical influences outside metal. It is glad to see his fatigueless passion to yield his works on a consistent basis. But none of his works has reached the level of satisfaction. I think it would be much better for him to put all his energy into a single project rather than scatter it into numerous projects. Jan 21, 2024

It is a typical extreme power metal album striving to show the oriental way of unleashing the power of the dragon. This album sounds like a remake version of Japanese anime theme songs in an extreme way. The band displayed oriental melodies in some tracks, but their effort was not impressive. Jan 20, 2024
Metal Addiction 85/100
It is the evolved version of the band's debut release, showing a fantastic instrumentation level. The fans of The Faceless and Archspire would appreciate this effort. The Fallujah-esque soundscape prevails at the album's beginning but fails to drive that positive atmosphere until the end. There are several bombastic moments offered by the extravagant instrumental technicality, but this album sounds like ear candies with a shallow musical depth in general. Jan 17, 2024

I saw the review on this album, calling it 'Aliencore' due to the musical atmosphere of this release. I think Aliencore is a 'fancy' name for it. I cannot have any extraterrestrial ambience even though I am fully aware of what the guy in the vocal duty is screaming for. I think it is a debut release of an average quality. Probably it will be somewhat enjoyable for fans of metalcore. Jan 9, 2024

I cannot deny that this album is an agonisingly beautiful prog release. The salient feature of this album is its easy-to-grasp musical style crafted by the marvellous technicality in instrumental performance with a sombre melody-making capability. Especially track 6 is a proggy beauty. The main downside I found is that there are too many long interludes between some good-sounding tracks. But it will be nitpicking if I deduct my score on this album due to this reason. Jan 8, 2024

Rapture was a pleasant surprise when I first discovered this emotive hidden gem. This one is special to me because it is one of the most influential doom-metal albums in my life. I have always been swayed by this album's atmosphere. All the songs are fully packed with remorse, despair, and sorrow for suicidal tendencies. Highly recommended for those who have a bittersweet musical taste with the mixture of lethal doses of sombre melody and the extreme features of death metal. Jan 8, 2024

The previous album, La Proiezione del Fuoco, was a stellar piece of musical integration in Anamnesi's career. Caurus has succeeded to its predecessor's musical formula. Progressive, death, black and symphonic elements are interwoven into the sound of this release nicely. But the overall quality of this album seems to be a bit downgraded when compared to its predecessor. The unpredictability in structure is still present, but the lack of memorability makes me feel that way. Jan 7, 2024

It is a unique stoner metal album with thunderous and somewhat plodding but powerful punchy moments of embracing meditative spirituality. This album has some mind-blowingly amazing moments that deserve to have your attention. This album is the release that made me fall in love with stoner metal. So, I have a special feeling towards this opus and I do think that this album is the epitome of all the music tagged in stoner metal should sound like. Jan 7, 2024

This album is my the most favourite album in the Bolt Thrower's career. Some may say that this album sounds somewhat formulaic. But, the immersive slow pace and repetitive guitar works are evocative of doom and stoner metal influences, giving you the delusional hallucination that you are the warrior in the IVth Crusade. It is definitely a frustrating release compared to the band's previous works. I think Inculter have failed to capitalise on the potential shown in their debut album. Norway is often regarded as a top supplier of notorious blackened metallers. This album does not live up to that glorious reputation. In my opinion, It is an above-average release that conforms to the conventions of old thrash metal. Jan 7, 2024

It is a sophomore effort from the Finnish quintet. No dramatic musical evolvement from their debut has been found. Fortunately, there is no plethora of convoluted musicianship like crazy double bass drumming or intricate guitar riffs. Even though this album is labelled as 'melodic' death metal with a metalcore approach, the melody-making capability shown in this release is relatively poor to other bands in the same genre. Overall, It is just a normal release. Jan 7, 2024

Watching the downward spiral of Annihilator's career is quite interesting. They have never lived up to the fans' expectations since they released their first two albums. This album is another flat-tasted thrash metal release that Annihilator have always released. I cannot find any good musical moments in all tracks. Jan 3, 2024

A fun fact is that I still listen to this album occasionally because I still can't believe that 'the great' In Flames released this album. I think In Flames wanted to broaden their fan base by changing their musicality through the embrace of the latest metal trend back then. Unfortunately, their approach did not appeal. Jan 3, 2024

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024
