Metal Addiction 85/100
I got amped on this release recently. It is the metal music for a rave, making you dance all night. Pulsating riffs are the most stood-out feature of this album. Those riffs make an enormous synergy with the easy-to-grasp melodies and frantic vocal works that embody insanity. But structure-wise, it is not satisfactory work. All the tracks sound like being played using the omnipresent metal repertoire which can be easily found in other metal albums of the same genre label. Jun 14, 2023

After listening to that 23-minute-long tirade, I have realised that there is a lot more uncharted, unrelenting, disordered and chaotic territory in extreme metal waiting to be explored. If you are the type of metaller who enjoys listening to something intense, defiant and hostile atmosphere formed in an unordered musical structure, this album is for you. Jun 13, 2023
Metal Addiction 75/100
It is a very easy-listening blackened death metal album which can easily appeal to anyone who is not interested in the labyrinthine layered musical structure and favours intuitive and simple-sounding metal. To put it in a scathing-criticism way, this release is scentless and characterless in songwriting. Hence lacking originality is the main problem even though the band seemed trying hard to develop a mystic theme musically as the titles of the tracks say. Jun 13, 2023

It is a fairly ambitious album. The vast majority of the tracks in this album are heavy and vicious as hell. The problem is some tracks have some minor issues: Those tracks have musical moments that do not suit the soundscape of the album. But the blast-speed drum beats and the thrash metal-inspired guitar works are complementing the drawbacks. To conclude, it is a good old-school death metal release. Jun 12, 2023

I have mixed feeling over this release. On one hand, I love the weird, chaotic and unhinged soundscapes of this album, resulting in disturbingly layered musical patterns. On the other hand, there are no coherent features at all in both sound and structure, generating warped dynamics that make the overall sound unsettling. It is a good album in general, but Teitan's musical approach needs to be eclectic. I hope Teitan's next effort will be more refined than this release. Jun 12, 2023

The main musical structure of this album was developed by the proggy mix of shoegaze and post-metal in a blackened death metal way. It does sound like a brilliant formula to make a good-tasting cocktail. Unfortunately, the band's formula does not fit in making a tasty cocktail in my opinion. Some tracks have heavenly moments, but, overall, it is lacking in consistency and originality in both sound and structure. Jun 12, 2023

It's the Byzantine's best work so far. The subsequent release failed to retain the brilliant metal formula that the band developed in this album. It's full of bangers which were crafted by citing the good features of Pantera mainly and some thrash metal bands. They didn't just copy those features, but successfully made variations out of them. The band's melody-making capability is one more thing to be appreciated. To conclude, it's a good album that deserves more attention. Jun 11, 2023

The first full-length debut album by the quintet from Belgium shows a world of potential in both songwriting and performance. But, it seems like they do not know how to swing their swords yet. The ferocious vocals and the gloomy texture of the guitar sound should be heartily applauded, offering the highly tined vulgarity through a doom vibe. But the entire album sounds so flat in structure. Overall, this album makes me have high hopes for the band's next step. Jun 11, 2023

It is a disappointing release that has failed to capture the good features of atmospheric black metal. Omega Infinity's approach to utilising black metal elements to develop a quaint ambience with icy soundscapes and cold industrial noise seems just fine, but those efforts have devastated the ablaze vitality that death metal can offer. Overall, the band's attempt to blend black and death metal is unsatisfactory in this album. Jun 11, 2023

I hoped the music it contains would be as distinguished as its album cover. This album is an average-level post-rock release with industrial metal influences. Jun 11, 2023

This album shows a perfect musical synthesis of Blut Aus Nord and Deathspell Omega, which made me revere this opus ever since it was released. The Deathspell Omega-esque songwriting style successfully crafts a dark and eerie atmosphere. Reverence also added a slight amount of jazz influence into their sound with Blut Aus Nord-inspired vibe to create a labyrinthine musical layer, resulting in establishing the successful unpredictability of the musical pattern in structure. This album displays jaw-dropping technicality at an inhumane level, which is the main strength of this release. But, it's the main drawback of this album at the same time. The eye-popping technical playings by the band don't seem to aim to establish musical integrity but to show off their astonishing calibre for playing instruments. They've done an impeccable job when it comes to performance. But I don't think they've achieved a distinguished level of musical completion. Jun 10, 2023

The preamble-sounding album title has drawn my attention to give it a serious listen. I think the playfully straight-faced sci-fi storytelling is the charming point of this album. Songwriting-wise, this album is pretty good considering it is the band's first full-length debut release. But this album is seriously lacking in originality. This album keeps evoking me of Monster Magnet's Space Lord during the listen. I hope they can establish their musical identity next time. Jun 10, 2023

The musicality and technicality that those British blokes have shown in this album is the appallingly downgraded version of Periphery in my opinion. It is another cookie-cutter Djent-based metal album that aspires to look like a good album. Jun 10, 2023

I cannot understand why the title of this album is Bangers even though there are no tracks considered to be 'bangers'. Jun 9, 2023
Metal Addiction 95/100
This album portrays extreme insanity by playing a unique blend of progressive wankery supported by intense grindcore with a good dose of truly bizarre vocals thrown in for good measure. The kaleidoscope of musical structure is the most impressive feature of this album. Predicting the structural dynamics of this album is beyond the realms of possibility. Overall, this album offers the experience of an ecstatic state by pummeling beats and the bizarity in sound and structure. Jun 9, 2023

This album is an assorted gift set that contains all the horrendous musical features of metal you can imagine.... I have tried my best to find at least a single feature that might sound positive to my ears, but it was a waste of time. Jun 9, 2023

This album released by the quartet from NZ is quite interesting. The most impressive about this album is the band's songwriting capability. The fusion of different styles and structures in a bittersweet form of death metal is fascinating. If you are sick of listening to cookie-cutter death metal albums these days, this album would be a great pleasure. The downside is that the later tracks are a bit deviated from the musicality that the early tracks have marvellously developed Jun 9, 2023

Do you have any idea how to turn idiocracy into a metal form? This album would give you the answer. For my own sake, I cannot recommend this album to anyone. Steva La Conhiala, the frontwoman of this band, does her job at the 'Okay' level, but I have no idea what the rest of her bandmates are doing in this album. In short, this album is a complete disaster in songwriting, production, originality, and performance. Jun 9, 2023

It's a great atmospheric black metal album. Klabautamann is at the peak of their power in this album which outperforms their previous efforts in every aspect. Musically speaking, this album sounds more fluid, quirky and dynamic. The feature I love the most about this album is that this release sounds more creative and interesting as it goes towards the end. This is the main reason why I revisit this album quite often up until now even though it was released over a decade ago. Jun 9, 2023

In my opinion, those who criticise this album for its slow tempo are not fans of doom metal for sure. Disliking this album will be totally fine with me. But the tardy tempo in structure and sound is one of the musical characteristics of doom metal. Most people tend to talk about the first track of this album. But the tracks like 'A Funeral Request' and 'Reaching Happiness, Touching Pain' are also the jewels of this album. Jun 9, 2023
Metal Addiction 85/100
I'm often mesmerised by the unique features of this album. The overall musicality reminds me of Morbus Chron's Sweven album. But this album sounds more discordant with a pure death metal approach compared to Sweven. It is a bit of shame that the peculiar sound characteristics shown in the early tracks of this album slightly go away as it goes to the end. But I'm so sure that it is an absorbing album with a unique metal spirit from the beginning to the end. Jun 9, 2023

I cannot just simply say that this album is monotonous in structure. It is worse than that. This release is the prime example of using simplicity as a musical technic in the worst imaginable way. Jun 8, 2023

This album would be the optimum answer for the seekers who are looking for something weird and chaotic. This album is a landmark opus drawn based on progressive metal, metalcore and math metal with a banquet of bombarded technical playing. Apart from the fantastic technicality, the two different vocal styles employed by SikTh in this album sound fascinating, making this album sound more interesting. To conclude, this album is one of my all-time favourites. Jun 8, 2023

This album is one of the most underrated melodic black metal albums of all time. The reason why this album has been neglected in the metal community is that this album was released when the genre, melodic black metal, was young. It means that the genre itself at that time was as pure as virgin territory. Probably this album does not sound as ideal as modern-day black metal albums, but this release is a journey of true imagination with hallucinating atmosphere. Jun 8, 2023

To me, Rob Zombie is the metal form of Justin Timberlake. Like Justin's music, this album is full of somewhat sexy and easy-to-grasp melodies with modest hardness. I loved this album when I was a teenager. This album is recommended for those who are on the verge of exploring the metal world. Jun 8, 2023

I'd rather call this album 'dissonant death metal' than technical death metal. Some tracks like 'Taufbefehl' is a bit simple in structure to be tagged as 'technical'. But It doesn't mean that this album isn't technical enough. Some tracks are played with Ulcerate-esque technical level of musicianship. Those who love the musical combination of dissonance and brutality would appreciate Nightmarer's effort. Overall, this album is a good album with engaging sound characteristics. Jun 8, 2023

I am so sorry to say that I have come to a decision that I will defy to participate in the 'congregation' of Metal Church due to the unsatisfied quality of this album. Jun 8, 2023

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
