The Black Dahlia Murder는 미국 밴드지만 북유럽 데스 메탈 밴드스러운 감성이 많이 가미된 팀이다. 물론 이들의 데뷔 앨범 Unhallowed에서 Morbid Angel의 모습이 아른거리기도 하지만, 무엇보다도 이 앨범은 At the Gates나 Entombed 등 스웨덴 유수의 명밴드들이 없었다면 이런 모습으로 탄생하지 못했을 것이다. 특히 At the Gates의 Slaughter of the Soul 같은 걸작은 대서양 너머에서까지 추종자를 양산할 수 있음을 여실히 증명하고 있다. Unhallowed의 빠른 공격적인 템포로 진행되는 가운데 멜로디를 삽입한 경우는 전형적인 북유럽산 멜로딕 데스 메탈의 공식에 부합되지만, 여기에 원시적이고 날선 사운드는 At the Gates의 전매특허나 다름없다. At the Gates를 좋아하는 사람으로서는 이러한 밴드를 좋아하질 않을 이유는 없다. 다만, 아직 데뷔 앨범인지라 이들만의 독자적인 스타일이 확립된 것은 아니지만, 이 정도면 비교적 훌륭한 시작이라 하지 않을 수 없겠다.

미국출신 멜로딕 데스밴드입니다.
사실은 본인은 이 밴드를 전부터 알고있엇지만, 처음들었을때 조금 거부감이 들어서 잘 듣지않았던 앨범이였습니다.
그래도 많은분들이 이 앨범을 굉장히 좋게 평가를 하셔서 고민끝에 앨범을 구하고 듣게 되었습니다.
