They've grown a lot since their 2021 album. Also, those last two tracks combine for a great closing to the album. Jan 9, 2025

Though I'm more interested in his black metal releases, this album is full of nuances that keep my attention. Of course it's massively dark and deeply sad. Jan 9, 2025

Track 5 is the clear high point for me. A couple of fade outs feel really awkward, but there's a bunch of fantastic moments throughout this one. Jan 9, 2025

Pretty nice dungeon synth album that started off an epic career for one of my favorite artists. Jan 9, 2025

Members from Tour d'Ivoire, Forteresse, Véhémence, and more are on this. Black metal from a medieval tavern with very rousing melodies. Jan 9, 2025

I was checking out Riley's picks of the year from Banger TV, and this was my favorite. Freezing cold & diabolical. I also loved the short dungeon synth track a ton more than I usually do. Well done, Sortilegia. Jan 9, 2025

It's really straight death metal without resembling melodeath at all, but there is still this emotional depth behind the composition, more than I expected from such grisly songs. Highly recommendable to fans of extreme metal. Jan 9, 2025

Great melodies on this one, and some parts are death 'n' roll. Jan 9, 2025

Great energy. The vocalist has a great sound to his voice, but doesn't modulate his delivery anywhere near enough. It doesn't drag down my enjoyment much. Really enjoyable and succinct album. Jan 5, 2025

The whole thing is strong in melody & atmosphere. Even the ambient parts and post-rock moments are solid. I guess I was expecting it to surpass Bonebranches. Since it wasn't quite as excellent, it took me some time to realize that this is actually a thoroughly good album. Also, a good welcome to 2025. Jan 5, 2025

Quite raw and pretty good, but they got much better in later years. Jan 5, 2025

Suffocating and sepulchral feelings that the genre seems to be invented for. It all works rather well. No particular weak moment - consistent for the 44 minutes. If your ears perk up at that album title, this will give you what you like. Jan 5, 2025

Fun to revisit this album because it's a bit better than I remembered. It's clear these are the same 4 great musicians, but there's a few awkward parts and almost every chorus is not as good as the verse. Still mostly positive. My favorite track is Dandelion. Jan 5, 2025

Good album that might be too long for many. I'll admit that track 2 is very long and is also the weakest track, but track 8 is also very long and is a ton better. Track 3, Lost, is probably the best song here. Thank you for the good album, Morke. Jan 5, 2025

This release is packed with very interesting moments, and I really felt the energy. Good work by Job for a Cowboy. Jan 1, 2025

The end of track 2 is the highlight of this album. Not much else really works for me. A lot of the vocals and lyrics drag down my enjoyment. Jan 1, 2025

I love the darkly melodic parts of these songs, the tempo changes, and everything else. Such a great band. Jan 1, 2025

Mardom started off with a fantastic EP. Jan 1, 2025

Fast and precise drum and guitar parts lodged into very tight spaces. I guess that's just how Ōita people roll. Dec 31, 2024

I appreciate this band's style and passion, but most of these tracks don't quite work for me. Maybe some future release will warrant a different assessment from me. However, fantastic work on that stunning album cover. It's a great example of metal's vast and diverse set of aesthetics. Dec 29, 2024

I started listening to Andromida long before I figured out what metalcore actually sounded like. Now, hearing songs like the instrumental version of Conquer, I'm reminded how I didn't foresee that anyone would have any negative views about metalcore or djent. Now I understand those negative views, but Andromida is still releasing such captivating & genuine music. Thank you Andromida. Dec 29, 2024

I liked the whole thing and just wanted more and more. Still, I don't find it at the top tier of the metal world. Short dense albums like this one put noisegrind in as a contender for most extreme metal sub-genres. I hope some normie hears this by accident, and has their whole world covered with a shadow of suspicion and instability. Dec 29, 2024

Quite good. The poppy and dance club feel had me looking for minor flaws and reasons to hate it, but it's actually fun & energizing. Dec 29, 2024

Unconventional and probably inaccessible for many, I'll bet. These are not really songs, but sections of one long work. It tells a sonic story very well, though a mysterious and Rorschach story. The tortured mood and post-apocalyptic soundscape are wonderful. Dec 29, 2024

A bunch of flaws here. Too much silence and barely audible stuff at the beginning and the end. The clean vocals are not even singing; it's just a normal guy talking in a normal voice, and it's boring for me. Most songs need some trimming. However, there are some really inspiring moments, and at those times I can agree with the many fans of this release. Clearly, truly being about something can help an album. Dec 29, 2024

This is a very good song from an artist I'm quite enamored with. The vocals are nowhere near the focus of the song, so either version you listen to, the experience will be 99% the same for you, I'll bet. Anyway, thank you Lotus of Darkness. Dec 29, 2024

Mar 30, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

4 days ago

Like "Silence", only 1000 times better. The band's absolute best album. Not all the songs are masterpieces, but the best ones are incredible and the atmosphere of the album is epic. Mar 11, 2025

그 나이에 이게 데뷔앨범 이라는게 믿기지 않는다...다만 이때 모든 힘을 쏟은 것일까...ㅠ Mar 12, 2025

Probably Judas Priest's most commercially successful album, and it's extremely good. The song material is brilliant, and if we forget the existence of "Pain And Pleasure" and "Fever", it's perfect. The "Hellion/Electric Eye" duo is still one of the greatest opening tracks in metal history. The production is tuned to exactly the level that a band of this class should have. And then there's Rob Halford. Absolutely phenomenal, a top-3 Priest album for me. Mar 13, 2025

Rainbow leaves classic hard rock behind with their second album and begins to create the beginnings of the genre that would later be called power metal. The song material is practically perfect and the album features perhaps the strongest band line-up in history. The last two songs are pure masterpieces. If melodic old-school heavy metal with incredible vocal performances interests you, now you know where to look. Legendary! Mar 15, 2025
