Cosmicism 95/100
This is very very 90s Norwegian-style straight up BM. Compared to this year's very unorthodox and unique release by They Came From Visions, for example, Aldheorte makes a fantastic counterpoint. Every song just blasts your face with freezing blackened passion. Definite improvement on their already awesome 2023 EP. Highly recommended. A notable high point for 2024 to be sure. Jul 14, 2024

Full of high points like the first track, Cyptoface, & the epic title track. Track 2's lyrics get a little preachy. Even though the singer has a good point it still diminishes my enjoyment just a little. Overall just a hair better than their 2011 album, but it also takes more chances in my opinion, so I really appreciate their hard work. Jul 14, 2024

Collaboration worked out very well for these 2 bands. The nervous and oppressive feelings are so heavy, then it gets kinda new wave and fun in the middle, but then they sucker punch us with a terrifying last track. Just under 32 minutes, but it's a huge musical journey. Jul 14, 2024

It's pretty good. A lot of the time it's more like melodic hard rock that's a little blackened. Jul 14, 2024

Good songs here. I think I prefer the title track, but there are some other contenders. Noticeably better than their 2017 album. Jul 12, 2024

Totally taken by surprise here. This is one of the best things I've heard in recent days. That album cover didn't have me expecting such astounding waves of suffering and hard-to-name feelings. Let's be clear, this is raw, harsh, and excruciatingly beautiful. Atmospheric BM with pagan and somewhat folky accents to what the band declares as folk-horror-inspired. Jul 12, 2024
Cosmicism 80/100
Singing and instruments both required a lot of proficiency to perform this material, I'm betting, but it doesn't result in much impact for me. There's also the too-many-lyrics problem, and the bad-lyrics problem. Track 9 is just brilliant however, standing out gloriously. Jul 12, 2024

Truly noice recent slam release? Yes please. Also, it ventures into other genre territory such as straight up death metal and maybe others. That's the over the top brutality of slam with some swooning dramatic parts making for great variety and a listening experience that feels actually whole. Well done, Pathology. Jul 12, 2024

There are some parts that feel like they don't fit together right, but I'll keep thinking that over. Mostly this is intense misty atmospheres and heavily tragic moods. Even if I'm right about the awkward parts, it's still extremely interesting. Jul 12, 2024

Amazing what can be done with such a facepalm theme and absurd sub-genres; the songs really grabbed my attention, especially track 12. Then there's the sample at the beginning of track 7 - it had me in stitches. (Spartacus reference?) Jul 12, 2024

RYM is hallucinating saying there's cybergrind on this. Straight up pornogrind with those synth interludes, and well, it's a ton of fun in 18 absurd minutes. Jul 12, 2024

Compared to their legendary Terminal Redux, this one is more about impressive feats and crazy tight precision instead of the sweeping emotion. What I mean is that I hear how good it is, but I don't quite feel it. Maybe it says something about me or maybe it just is this album. Either way, I can't justify anything other than a high score. So these two collaborate again, but this project is funeral doom. I'm such a huge fan of their music, but this album leaves me in an emotional wreck. Also, I'll come back for more from them in a heartbeat. Say what you will about me. Jul 12, 2024

Man I used to listen to this a lot, and I thought I would now find more mediocre moments, but the vast majority is such genius with the weirdness and humor coming simultaneously with intense feelings of dread and awe. A truly great album. Jul 12, 2024

I have to say it's not as good as their later drone metal work, but I'm still positive on this album all the way. The drone metal gave me some visceral moments, and the stoner and the rocky moments made a needed counterpoint. Jul 12, 2024

We've all had days like that guy on the cover, but not al of us can bang out a butt-kicking deathgrind album like this. Those track titles really had me smiling too. Jul 12, 2024

Some ambitious tracks such as the long final one. The auidoclip / track 1 sets a horrifying yet comical tone that's perfect for this artist. You can find some sludgy moments, but I feel it's primarily slam. Not easily forgotten, and that's a good thing for maniacs like me. Jul 8, 2024

It's cool. Phyllomedusa is very fluid with the sub-genres, and this one is centered around slam. A nice quick EP. Jul 8, 2024

Akhlys was already so distinct, and now they're broadening their signature sound. I'm really tempted to bump this up to a perfect score; the terrifying and ghostly atmosphere just makes me melt. My favorite from that dynamite week, July 1st to 5th. Jul 8, 2024

That first track starts with something really special, but Kvaen fails to write a real end to the song. The rest of the album is not only flawless, but downright gripping in its melodic melancholy and feelings of tragedy. My hunch is that tons of headbangers are sleeping on this artist, and that they'll plainly love this if they just give it a listen. Jul 8, 2024

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
