Really meticulous work here. 44 minutes seem to go by in less than 10. There are stylistic differences between these two bands but, when I listen to this split, the similarities jump out at me and I just love this experience. Oct 20, 2024

This Tomb Mold album is very captivating. I also find it amusing that idiots on the interwebs made a pointless scandal about wearing t-shirts and connected it to this release. Oct 20, 2024

Another good one from Chat Pile. Tracks 4 & 8 are especially memorable. Just because RYM people obsessively overrate this band, that doesn't mean we should ignore this music that balances cerebral and primal inspirations very well. Oct 20, 2024

So I ventured into more the hipster territory of metal last Tuesday, and I didn't find a single reason to regret that adventure. The first track of this one is maybe a masterpiece of a song, and definitely daring, and fully genuine as well. The other tracks are a bit less vital, but track one is over half of the running time, so this is mostly a very high-impact experience. Recommended. Oct 20, 2024

Wow, a rarity in the collecting world that sounds special enough to deserve that rarity status. With their fleeting career, they produced something I think we should all hear. Maybe a skosh rough around the edges in a few parts, but that even increases the emotional impact. A long album I wouldn't dream of abridging. Oct 20, 2024

Solid release from Germany's Warlust. Oct 20, 2024

Such family friendly music. Though I often to listen to such illicit material, I'm more than happy to admit how much I enjoyed this album. Quite original. Well composed too. Oct 20, 2024

Folky & bluesy sounds highlight this sludgey album, and there's a great variety of excellent vocals. Oct 15, 2024

Oh look, metalheads are allowed to like Blood Incantation again. Both kinds of music are done very well and beautifully on top of that. Oct 15, 2024

Solid war metal with all the obligatory war-on-heaven stuff. Also, if they told us the vocalist was male, the world would believe it. Oct 15, 2024

Psychedelic indeed. This was like lounging around on antique furniture in a room with black lights & lava lamps while wearing sunglasses & leather and being scared silly by a live reading of an excellent horror novel. Oct 15, 2024

Of course just a demo, but really decent, and it closes out with a fantastic conclusion. Placing the logo on that part of the cover photo though......... Oct 15, 2024

This supergroup got together for a change of sub-genre. Though it's in the good-not-great range for me it is, at least, fully gothic metal. So much music in recent years is a bunch of other genres with a tiny bit of gothic metal in the mix, leaving a truly great style in a forgotten past. Cemetery Skyline came to our rescue in that regard with this really solid release. Oct 15, 2024

Very very rough around the edges, but the in-your-face punkiness of this hardcore album comes through earnestly, and I can enjoy it on that level. The last track hits hard, and track 4 is a surprise funk song. Oct 15, 2024
Cosmicism 70/100
The instrumentation is pro, and I see why some people enjoy this album, but the commercial feeling, the cringey cloying corniness, and the laughably terrible lyrics drag my score way way down. Before you even start paying attention to the words, just a look at track 4's title let's us find this album guilty of criminally low IQ and failure to care about how well written the songs are. On balance, the bad writing and good playing turn into a 70/average I guess. Oct 15, 2024

Their 1997 album made me remember their name, and I loved this album even more. Heavy as all Hades and fully genuine. Strongly recommended. Oct 15, 2024

This one has the right title in the worst way. I find it painful how all of the very good deathrock songs on the album are followed by extremely annoying babbling spoken-word and pointless noises. I like Lovecraft too, and I noticed a reference to Poe in there, but this is terrible. Actually, it's about 60% good music and 40% unlistenable garbage. I was really disappointed. Oct 15, 2024

I'm trying to get a better feel for the beginning of speed metal, and with this album I found an enjoyable way to broaden my horizons. The worst thing I can say is that the tones and the feelings in the vocals get a bit samey. Still good music by this LA band. Oct 15, 2024

I find their first album substantially better, but this album with its famous title was better than I expected, still good riffs and quite streamlined songwriting. I now find I have a good reason to celebrate the album that made the words 'black metal' so important to music history. Oct 15, 2024

Solid from start to finish, these songs are well written and loads of fun. There was a certain genius element about how this stuff surely made pathetically closed-minded old people shake in fear and imagine ridiculous conspiracies of all teenagers transforming into murderous satanists, when the whole thing was actually uses very good humor. It's pretty good. The first 2 songs, really good and reminiscent of AC/DC, had me really excited. I found a lot of the rest of the album just mediocre though. On the painfully corny 3rd track, the singer's approach to vocals just doesn't work. Not the best side of glam metal, despite the massive commercial success. Oct 15, 2024

I was really blown away by this excellent album. The band has a long history and started off this great with their debut but I never even knew they existed. I get the feeling this is seen as an essential for 80s thrash, and I fully agree. Oct 15, 2024

It's okay overall and some moments are pretty nice, but this band made quite a leap in quality when they came out with Disguise just 2 years after this. Oct 15, 2024

A good combination of earlier releases that bring very nice variety. The first section, tracks 1 to 7, have most of the best parts for me. Oct 15, 2024

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
