This is slam done just amazingly well. Any facet you can name, and it's great. I'm fully into it every millisecond. Sep 15, 2024

Pretty satisfying with good riffs. Sep 15, 2024

Things build to nice melancholic trance-states, and there is Dunkelheit influence here used to great effect. This and other projects by these musicians and other staff are all very good. The real pros all working together. Sep 15, 2024
Cosmicism 75/100
There are some good points like the singers charisma and some good guitar tones. The singing gets annoyingly poppy. Combined with some tacked-on string sections and trend-chasing trance metal, things often get too phony to enjoy. Still a little good though; it's obvious some practice and hard work in the studio went into this. Sep 15, 2024

A fantastic lo-fi album that switches things up with Darkthrone-feeling BM and straight up doom. Sep 15, 2024
Cosmicism 85/100
Good black metal with bits of death metal influence here & there. Sep 15, 2024
Cosmicism 95/100
Well, I had a fantastic week for music recent & old, and this one of best & most memorable. Blackened thrash that's impeccable but just burning with feeling and the kind of Mayhem influence that makes me swoon as well. Highly highly recommended. Sep 15, 2024
Cosmicism 70/100
Blasphemous & insulting as the sub-genre requires, but this war metal is just average. Sep 15, 2024
Cosmicism 85/100
This music really grabbed my attention as much as that EP title, but I enjoyed it all the way through as well. Sludgy goodness. Sep 15, 2024

Pretty good EP by CDW. Sep 15, 2024

Some songs here are destined to be skipped. I was bracing for something truly bad, but mostly it's so-so and lacking effort & refining, but there are some really pleasing songs alongside the really bad ones. Century stands out as a good one for me. In the end, these points balance out to a quite innocuous listen. As a whole not good. Sep 15, 2024

On the blackgaze side of things, and a rather good example of it as well. Sep 15, 2024

Very good progressive metal. Also, Adam Burke evokes both a cover of a highly imaginative novel, and a great somewhat impressionist museum piece, and lets us feel like we're in the bookstore and the art museum at the same time. What a pro. Sep 15, 2024

While this is lushly emotional, dramatic, and invigorating, the mellow instrumental interludes feel very unnecessary to me. It takes my score down just a little, but even with that deduction it's still worth an extremely high score and an easy recommendation. Sep 15, 2024

Impressive and powerful. Good but not great for me. Sep 15, 2024

Some obvious progression in the quality of Critical Defacement's material & instrumentation. I really enjoyed this brutal EP. Sep 15, 2024

So-so brutal DM album from this Indonesian band. Sep 15, 2024
Cosmicism 85/100
Nice variety on this album. It leans mostly toward heavy metal, but the riffing mostly stays thrashy. There are some proggy moments as well. Cool to see this project grow so much in just a couple of years. Sep 8, 2024
Cosmicism 80/100
Pretty good, but not as great as their reputation had me expecting. Then again, I really loved the crazy vocal power at the end of the last song, which I was also enjoying the most anyway. Sep 8, 2024
Cosmicism 85/100
It starts out pretty good, but the 2nd half of the album is a lot better. One of many good albums by this excellent band. Sep 8, 2024

With the unmistakable talent this guy has for creating dark & bleak outbursts of aggression that combine with ethereal atmospheres, it's a real shame he just keeps starting these very cathartic combinations and then just retreats back to ambience and field recordings. It's a constant starting and stopping and nothing progresses to the next step so the good moments feel too isolated. Such a disjointed album and a waste of his skills. Sep 8, 2024

Excellent albums like this give legitimate reason to consider that current NWOTHM music is actually better than the 80s metal it imitates due to hindsight and all. The guy from Fen and Fellwarden is in this group, and that should signal some high quality to metalheads who are in the know. Sep 8, 2024

The best dissonant album I tried this week. Something about this album feels especially smooth. I don't know if this is due to recording expertise or just masterful control by the musicians over timing or something else. Anyway, this album was a real treat, and I look forward to listening to anything by them again soon. Sep 8, 2024

Good bombastic & epic music here, but it's such an awkward combination. It's like the orchestrations are by some elderly master composer of classical music, and the lyrics, themes, & concepts are by an eleven-year-old boy who is proving to us that dragons are really really cool. Some of the voiceovers actually had me laughing and holding my head. Anyway, still pretty good. Sep 8, 2024

I just love this soundscape to death. The song structures don't go much of anywhere though, so it becomes more of background instead of telling a musical story. Of course, I'll always try anything created by Sxuperion, but he's done much better than this. Sep 8, 2024

Props to the new thrash metal band from Ukraine. Sep 8, 2024

Pretty good avant-garde somewhat proggy blackened death metal. I liked Psychagogue slightly more. Sep 8, 2024

I'm trying to get a handle on the current trend for dissonance. This was a good example of that trend. Track 7 stands out as ambitious and awe-inspiring. Good blackened death metal album. Sep 8, 2024

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
