Well, it sounds like Nightwish, but kind of meh. I'm not saying it feels forced, like what sadly happens with many old bands. However, nothing is memorable, and it should really be trimmed down to 55 minutes (wasting tons of time). Also, I had the volume turned too high, but then track 6 was so quiet it was almost inaudible. Rookie mistake with the sound levels. Jan 19, 2025

Overall pretty good. Though RYM thinks this is atmospheric BM, they're mostly wrong on that one (I'll bet they simply looked at the album cover). Actually, there's just a bit of everything; post-black metal, viking metal, and a little is atmospheric as well. In the end, just BM with some variety. Solid release. Jan 19, 2025

I was very pleased that this underground demo delivered on what that album cover hinted at. It's definitely time to catch up with The Legion now. Jan 19, 2025

Track 2 is just fantastic and a few others are pretty good as well. About half of the songs are so-so, and track 6 is a painfully bad butt rock song with a tacked-on string section and a massive amount of corniness. Still Powerman's discography does have some bright spots scattered around, I'm finding. Just skip track 6 and it's a good album, with lyrics being the weakest point (too much repetition and overly simple rhyming). Jan 19, 2025

The speed of some of these songs make them really impactful. Good music all around and it's played well. Jan 19, 2025

It feels really underground but not particularly sloppy. Each instrument gets some moments to shine, and the darkly romantic tone of the EP is great. Very inspiring release. Jan 16, 2025

Great energy, and I enjoyed the vocal melodies. Very solid album. Jan 16, 2025

I'm really sad to write that there's some very nice heavy metal instrumentation on this album but the singing makes it kind of negative. The vocals are stuck in a total rut, and a lot of us might not even like the vocal tone to begin with. It gets frustrating and, of course, repetitive. Jan 16, 2025

In a whirlwind of 6 years, this artist came out with 4 albums. Starting with this one, and now we have the excellent 2024 release. This debut 2019 album is quite solid, so Cosmic Putrefaction started out well. Track 8 really blew me away. Jan 16, 2025

They were very smart to choose that cover art, because it feels just like being in dark catacombs without knowing how you got there but having an intuition that something deadly happens regularly there. Such a deep feeling to this music and they achieve an excellent sound. Obviously Sortilegia has been a real force for many years now. Jan 16, 2025

I admire Paradise Lost for being bold and going 100% into this gothic synth territory, not throwing in token guitar riffs. It's already been said below - yes it's like Depeche Mode. A lot of the tracks achieve a fantastic sound, but I don't find the songwriting on par. Still a bit good, even if metalheads were very disappointed. Jan 16, 2025

Quirky, just like we should expect from these guys, but at the same time there are a lot of heavy, aggressive, red-blooded moments. Some variety too. I especially loved Shevil. Jan 16, 2025

The vocals are a bit weak, and the first few songs are so-so for me, but the majority of this album is great. The middle and end have such better songs, and the vocals are even a skosh better. The drumming and guitars are mostly excellent. Some great material by these veterans. Putting in the hard work to keep your band rocking can deliver great results, even after decades. Jan 16, 2025

The playing is all very tight and there are plenty of interesting details in the composition that give each song its won identity. I find the vocal style a bit weaker than the high standards of all the instrumentation. In the end, a great album just as the consensus says. Jan 16, 2025

A gigantic amount better than their 1992 album. On this self-titled release, I even enjoyed the feedback, finding it added in somewhat musically and at just the right amount. There are tons of great Iommic moments, and it's all solid & replayable. Good work by these sludge veterans. Jan 14, 2025

Nergal got such an early start to his recording career. Behemoth's discography is already a Behemoth, and this first full-length is fantastic. I especially love tracks 7 & 10, but the first half of track 4 is my favorite part of the album. Jan 14, 2025

Almost every song has very impressive parts, and there is great energy though it decreases with the last 2 tracks for me. Still a good album, but they grew a ton between here and 2023. Jan 14, 2025

An anonymous musician busts right in with a very mature work for a first release. It's generally the style of early Burzum, but the artist takes the style to places it never went before. It's gripping, grating, disturbing, and meditative, but it's not solely for chilling out in the raw harshness; there are gigantic resolutions and cathartic movements. Definitely an artist to pay attention to. Jan 14, 2025

I really love this EP, and Schattenfall is so suddenly such a big force in black metal. Jan 14, 2025

Nice work here from an artist I should catch up with. Jan 14, 2025

These are mostly good songs, but it's too bad the feedback is just done wrong and there's way too much of it. If I can find later recordings of these songs, I'll be very enthusiastic about hearing them again. Jan 14, 2025

More great work from Geistlicht. Jan 14, 2025

Good heavy metal melodies with tons of strange and hard-to-identify feelings. Of course that cover art is a masterpiece. Jan 14, 2025

Of all the Beasite Boys songs, you had to cover that one. Actually that cover song was all right for a listen. Track1, the title track was very weak and has almost no passion. Dogs of War is a bit better. It shows much better songwriting, sounding a bit nu metal or groove metal to me. It could be performed a bit better as well, but it was a nice surprise for me. Overall, the EP is a little bad. Jan 9, 2025

It's okay. Definitely on the more commercial side. It's kind of like Spiritbox, but a little better than Spiritbox. Of course it's nowhere near as good as the music industry pretends Spiritbox is. I understand for some fans that's a small gap but for some it's a big one. Whatever size, Allt's 2024 album is somewhere inside it. Jan 9, 2025

They admit they're going in a Summoning & Caladan Brood direction. Not quite so much with track 6, but that was my favorite. Anyway, Ammanas continues to give us so many great new BM albums, and ambitious artist who puts tons of feeling into all these songs. Jan 9, 2025

A bunch of their early stuff on one compilation. I'm glad they're giving a good deal to fans who want to support them. Jan 9, 2025

Glad to check into the backcatalog of Rodent Epoch. This was nice and nasty. Jan 9, 2025

Mar 30, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

4 days ago

Like "Silence", only 1000 times better. The band's absolute best album. Not all the songs are masterpieces, but the best ones are incredible and the atmosphere of the album is epic. Mar 11, 2025

그 나이에 이게 데뷔앨범 이라는게 믿기지 않는다...다만 이때 모든 힘을 쏟은 것일까...ㅠ Mar 12, 2025

Probably Judas Priest's most commercially successful album, and it's extremely good. The song material is brilliant, and if we forget the existence of "Pain And Pleasure" and "Fever", it's perfect. The "Hellion/Electric Eye" duo is still one of the greatest opening tracks in metal history. The production is tuned to exactly the level that a band of this class should have. And then there's Rob Halford. Absolutely phenomenal, a top-3 Priest album for me. Mar 13, 2025

Rainbow leaves classic hard rock behind with their second album and begins to create the beginnings of the genre that would later be called power metal. The song material is practically perfect and the album features perhaps the strongest band line-up in history. The last two songs are pure masterpieces. If melodic old-school heavy metal with incredible vocal performances interests you, now you know where to look. Legendary! Mar 15, 2025
