There's an amazing title track, and then there are really good seven tracks. It's just as heavy and crazy good as Electric Wizard's other albums in their catalogue. Worth checking out. Jul 19, 2015

One of the high end Stoner Doom records out there. The riffs, man, are just so priceless! Even though it's less heavy than their magnum opus Dopethrone, the album manages to relive the same feelings. Jul 19, 2015

These songs make excellent background music. Nothing more, nothing less. Background Music. Jul 19, 2015

Hey, this isn't bad at all! "They've officially trapped themselves in the technical wall-of-noise they've built.":NOT! The technical stuff and all the progressiveness altogether makes a frantic yet great experience. Jul 18, 2015

It's uh... Decent. It's good, but the individual tracks don't stand out that well. The album flows as a whole. Disregarding that aspect, it has cool melodic lines and great production. (The semi hardcore vocals may not be for everyone, too) Jul 18, 2015

Hotdang! Another superb Prog Sludge album by the John Baizley-led Baroness. The unique, sludgy but also very rockish guitar tone provides a "trippy" feeling, making just the right atmosphere to thoroughly enjoy the album. Jul 18, 2015

Goddang, this is an amazing record! Personally, this is my go-to record whenever I need some Post Metal. Every song has its own unique feeling. Some are doom metal level heavy, some are reminiscent of 70s prog or post punk. A very great album. Jul 18, 2015

Post Metal that flows seamlessly. These guys do what they're fully capable of; they put off high quality material on a very consistent basis. Great Post Metal, nothing more and nothing less. Jul 18, 2015

This is probably one of Earth's strongest works. The sheer ambience they build up with the repetitive, doomy, droning guitars plus the creepy usage of male&female vocals almost gets you killed. Jul 18, 2015
Kildneybean 85/100
A great Drone-to-Post Metal transition album. Well, not actually "transition", since Earth release some records that sound closer to Drone Metal later on. Anyways it's essentially really catchy riffs presented over and over again in a low frequency fashion. Dig drone or post? This album's for you. Jul 18, 2015
Kildneybean 85/100
A very nice Instrumental Post Rock effort! Despite the songs being Instrumental and 4 minutes long on average, they're all really well composed. You can feel that just by listening carefully. (These type of music require you a state of mind. You need to be in the mood for some Post Metal.) Jul 18, 2015

All the tracks sound the same. These Djent songs get really really old after a few minutes. Sometimes it's sweet listening to the riff flow and song unflold, especially the first half of the album before you get bored. Jul 18, 2015

A change of style for Led Zeppelin. Which sounds pretty sweet, but than again some people like more of Zeppelin's guitar heavy songs. Nevertheless a great album! Jul 18, 2015

Listening, I tried to come up with a word to perfectly describe this album, and I managed to find it. The word? Kick-Ass. The album has a lot of guitar lines that instantly stick to your head, and it's mostly presented in a trademark Swedish Death Metal sound. The buzzzzing guitar tone is, in essence, what makes this album. Jul 18, 2015

Such an intense album that manages to grasp the listener's attention for 38 minutes. The almost wacky sounding bass is also what makes their music so unique and awesome. Jul 18, 2015

Good for a Groove Metal album, atrocious for a Sepultura album. I'm sure every Sepultura fan suffered a slap in the face with bloody roots. It has some really good moments though, that's for sure. Jul 18, 2015

Absolutely floored. Never expected the record to be this good. I mean just look at the cover. It's so goofy to use the little mermaid on a grindcore album cover, right? Yet, the album is really original and flows with creative juices. Jul 18, 2015

This album really fits in the description "versatile". It's not just a great mixture of progressive sludge mastery; the songs are presented in such a way that each song makes a deep impression, making a really enjoyable listen. Probably one of the best Prog/Ambient Sludge records out there. Jul 17, 2015
Kildneybean 75/100
Way, waaaay too technical for one to pick up the song easily. Still, it transfers the songs to the listener without too too much "getting lost in technical wankery" stuff. Jul 17, 2015
Kildneybean 55/100
Seriously? I'm not trolling but there's just too many ballads, banal hooks, vapid songwriting, and to top it off, James Labree-bree's sickening vocals. I don't know what's up with the man but he needs a vocal cord surgery to make it sound more "listenable", i.e. fit for heavy songs. Jul 17, 2015
Kildneybean 85/100
I love the album cover, and how the cover effectively visualizes how the album sounds like. Death Shall Rise is an old school DM album in the vein of early Death and Morbid Angel (in terms of sound). Jul 16, 2015

Sweet Home Alabama man! This album really exists for the first song. The rest is kinda good too, but just by listening to the first song your head gets blown away. Jul 16, 2015

I dunno why this album is here on "Metal" Kingdom but man these guys sure are great artists. Practically all the tracks are perfect. The guitarwork, melodic structure and everything. This might as well be the epitome of what Southern Rock should sound like. Jul 16, 2015

A priceless debut. All three members are straight out great musicians and their musicianship all come together and make wonderful songs. RIP Jack Bruce! Jul 16, 2015

Burn my eyes is a mediocre debut album. It has its own moments with fine riffs and headbanging moments, but practically it's kind of bland. The lyrics are sometimes really cheesy too. Jul 16, 2015

A fun album that revives the trashiness of the '80s metal scene, adding some more groovy sounds. It is said that Chris and Randy were highly inflenced by that era when the Metal scene effectively exploded. Jul 16, 2015

Very formatic and very cliché Swedish Melodeath. The album has more of a mainstream influence than their previous work. The tracks are really divided in terms of quality; there are pretty good tracks and there are bad ones. Jul 16, 2015
Kildneybean 95/100
I found myself listening more of this album than the 2nd or 4th release; and I think it's actually better than Northern Sky Light or Hungry Romanian Province. The dark schematic ambience the music generates really gives me a shiver. Jul 15, 2015

Mmmm... Mike Disalvio tracks delivered in a rather grutty vocal sound actually really good. Made me wonder how blissful it would be if Lord Worm sang it. Anyways, killer vocals and amazing guitar and basswork, topped off with Flo's beastly brutal drumming make quite a nice live album. Jul 15, 2015

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
