멜로딕 스래쉬? 아니면 멜로딕 데스? Skeletonwitch의 데뷔 앨범 At One with the Shadows은 경계가 상당히 모호한 양상의 음악을 들려주고 있다. 처음에만 해도 멜로딕 데스 메탈인가 했지만, 블랙 메탈스러운 느낌도 나고있어 본작은 들으면 들을수록 혼란스러운 작품이라 할 수 있겠다. 이러한 혼란은 프로듀싱에서 기인한 측면도 있다. 연주 파트가 비교적 선명하게 들리는 편에 비해 보컬의 보이스는 거의 데모 음반에 준할 정도로 꽤나 흐릿하게 녹음되었다. 이런 열악함이 앨범의 음산한 분위기를 조성하는데 일정부분 기여하기는 했지만, 전반적으로, 앨범의 언밸런스를 불러와 오히려 부정적인 영향을 끼쳤다고 보고 있다. 그래도 수록곡들의 멜로디가 상당히 들을 만한 편이라, 흐릿한 인상의 프로듀싱마냥 잊혀질 만한 성질의 것은 아니다. 이들의 진가는 후속작들에서나 드러날 듯하다.
