Some artists out there are not satisfied with creating a few good albums and keep trying to push further into great territory. These 2 members made something even more beautiful than their previous work together and gave me a great surprise even though I figured it would be good. The BM is on the depressive side, but the post-rock & shoegaze element is immensely catchy. Highly recommended. Mar 31, 2025

There are some good songs here, but it's 50% boring commercial music with guitarists and the drummer barely even present. The singer's voice is pretty great, but that can't make a bad song good. Skip half of this album. Mar 27, 2025

I had a deathgrind Wednesday, and this album was the high point. Sure, some tracks are just so-so, but most are good or very good, with tracks 6 & 9 being excellent. For an influential veteran band, they sure show as much passion and energy as I expect from a bunch of teenagers. Mar 27, 2025

I have mixed feelings about this album. The audio clips, and the noise & ambient stuff get really annoying. The proper songs are all good, some even excellent and quite nuanced. Some parts to skip, but this is some great stuff. Mar 27, 2025

Good fierce deathgrind from what seems to be a one-man band. Mar 27, 2025

Wow, this is vigorous as can be. Definitely primarily death metal. Tons of great moments, impressive playing, and evil. Mar 27, 2025

Not as much life in the songwriting compared to the 2022 album I'd heard before. Maybe that's a pitfall of the thall trend. Not bad - a bit so-so. Mar 27, 2025

The vocals are okay and everything else is a bit better than okay. Just their first album 9 years ago, and we'll see if this month's release is an improvement. Mar 27, 2025

Sometimes metal just isn't sacrilegious at all. When that's a problem for us, Archgoat comes to the rescue. They really care about us, don't they? Also their music is very good. Mar 27, 2025

Nattverd gives the world another top-tier release. This time, the foreboding moods and torturous sadness stand out for me. Though this is straight black metal, the atmosphere is so intense that fans of atmo black will surely be pleased as well.... and let's just add in all metal fans too - it's that good. Definitely my pick of the day for yesterday. Mar 27, 2025

Great death doom with faster tempos than your usual doom. This fact made Banger TV's Blayne Smith super happy, and I thank him for another fantastic recommendation. Mar 27, 2025

Yet another new slam project off to a fine start. Noice track titles as well. Mar 27, 2025

Some of this album is just terrible filler with fake sentimental moods and disgustingly corporate composition. The album also slips into much different modes, like nu metal / rap metal, bluesy classic rock, and vigorous hard rock, all of which are better than the filler. As an album, that evens out to a mundane score, but the better tracks like 1,6, & 10 are really solid. Mar 27, 2025

Peaceful celebratory folk metal with extreme parts similar to thrash and death metal for drawing an excellent contrast. 2 great albums in a row for this band. Mar 27, 2025

I'm just astounded at how powerful this music is. It seems that the project is now over, and that they were never satisfied with the earlier stages of their discography. Regardless, I can't help but become very curious about those earlier albums; even if they're half as good, it'll be worth it. Mar 27, 2025

Glad to learn about this band. I find mostly heavy metal with a couple of speed metal moments here. A very nice and invigorating listen. Mar 23, 2025

There are some good elements on this, but I don't feel the inspiration that Existence is Futile demonstrated. Good, not great. Mar 23, 2025

OK, I'll admit I'm not the best judge for the softer songs on this album, but the heavy ones are just astounding. Spiritworld has its own style and the members clearly work hard at perfecting it. Unique and awesome. Two great albums in a row for this great band. Mar 23, 2025

The worst I can say about this is that I don't want to revisit the 7-minute intro track. Also that I'm not a fan of the fade-outs on some of the songs. It actually feel a deep sadness that I'm giving Drudkh anything less than a 100/100 - absurd standards of course. This is an excellent album, and my pick of the week by far. By far far far. Mar 23, 2025

It has energy & passion. That enveloping atmosphere of their later work just does not show up yet. Still quite good. Mar 23, 2025

In the short but awesome career of Colosseum, they just crushed our souls with funeral doom. This was a great start to that. Speaking of great starts, the first track is the clear standout for me. Mar 23, 2025

Death metal is not my favorite sub-genre, but I was still in complete death metal bliss for the better moments of this album - namely tracks 3 & 8. The rest is pretty good too. Respect to Paganizer. Mar 23, 2025

Nice EP by the gigantically prolific Paganizer. Mar 23, 2025

After so many years of being an absolute acolyte of the first 5 albums, I finally gave this one a try. Clearly not in the league of what came before it. Tracks 4 & 7 I will just avoid. The album maybe could've been better if Ozzy didn't sound bored at times (maybe it was more like substance abuse was wreaking havoc on his brain). The opening and closing tracks were the high points for me. Mar 23, 2025

Nice solid first album by Nattverd here. Mar 23, 2025

So I wanted a war metal Wednesday. This was my favorite listening experience of that day. Tons of energy. On his bandcamp page, he says the songwriting is pretty improvisational. I guess this album is proof that that approach to creating works well at times. Mar 23, 2025

Very grim tones and a dank atmosphere. Quite raw too with a good crackle, but that subterranean echo we expect from war metal is there at the same time. Members from Ritual Ascension etc wanted to create a bestial project. They succeeded for sure. Very replayable and everything is just right. Mar 23, 2025

Exactly that war metal sound, if you're looking for it. Even if you're not looking for it, it's also cool to see metal artists from Ecuador, one of those countries I don't hear from often. Mar 23, 2025

Very nice album by Dynazty here. I'm always complaining about songs with too much singing, but with all the right kinds of modulation, Nils can cram a bunch of lyrics together and make it work beautifully. Mar 20, 2025

Mar 30, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

4 days ago

Like "Silence", only 1000 times better. The band's absolute best album. Not all the songs are masterpieces, but the best ones are incredible and the atmosphere of the album is epic. Mar 11, 2025

그 나이에 이게 데뷔앨범 이라는게 믿기지 않는다...다만 이때 모든 힘을 쏟은 것일까...ㅠ Mar 12, 2025

Probably Judas Priest's most commercially successful album, and it's extremely good. The song material is brilliant, and if we forget the existence of "Pain And Pleasure" and "Fever", it's perfect. The "Hellion/Electric Eye" duo is still one of the greatest opening tracks in metal history. The production is tuned to exactly the level that a band of this class should have. And then there's Rob Halford. Absolutely phenomenal, a top-3 Priest album for me. Mar 13, 2025

Rainbow leaves classic hard rock behind with their second album and begins to create the beginnings of the genre that would later be called power metal. The song material is practically perfect and the album features perhaps the strongest band line-up in history. The last two songs are pure masterpieces. If melodic old-school heavy metal with incredible vocal performances interests you, now you know where to look. Legendary! Mar 15, 2025
