There's some really beautiful instrumentation here, but nothing is the true Nordicwinter excellence until it gets to track 5. Nov 2, 2022

Lost Wisdom stands out as a real musical accomplishment. I was pleasantly surprised that nothing was really a mess or lazily repetitive like on many of his other albums. However, I find it mostly mediocre with a few very good points here & there. Nov 2, 2022

Songwriting on this is good, and there are lush sludgey sounds. For me, the vocal approach is so-so. This album is a nice mix of light & heavy. Nov 2, 2022

Wow, extremely high quality symphonic BM. The spookiness couldn't be better. Hellhammer slays, and everything else is great too. Nov 2, 2022

This band mixes so many different types of vocals and makes them work together very well to bring a great sense of variety. This album has a lot of deep emotion. Oct 30, 2022

Not a perfect album, but it's one of the most exceptional and unique albums of the last 100 years. Aleah was so amazing, and I think we'll listen to her for eternity. My favorite song is Broken Mirror. Oct 30, 2022

Some music is heavy, and some music is extreme. This album is both of those things at a full 100%. I don't listen to grindcore, but mixed in like this I enjoyed it very much. Congrats to Anaal Nathrakh on a great album. Oct 30, 2022

A massive, powerful, and ambitious double album. The level of beauty wavers down a little at points. Really close to a perfect score, but I need to differentiate. Also, respect to Trent for trying new things and being unorthodox on this one. Into the Void is pure fire, and the hip hop element in many songs works like a charm. Oct 30, 2022

Overall good album but a little weak here & there. I think the vocals need more emotion at many points. With the songwriting, this album really sets a great mood. Less thrash than other recent Darkthrone releases. This one's kinda basically black metal with some doom riffs, at times rather Iommic. For me, far from the excellence of Old Star, but a little better than Eternal Hails. Best track - Kevorkian Times, tracks 3 & 4 are pretty good too. Oct 30, 2022

Rafn is quite a riffmaster. It's great to be in a hypnotic zone, but started thinking that Rafn should be in a band and just write the riffs and get some synergy going. Oct 30, 2022

They all sound professional & proficient. It's pretty good but I can hear how they depend on the singer's super vocal skills, and didn't make the compositions interesting. A few songs around the middle of the album are nice but I find no songwriting very good. Oct 30, 2022

Respect to Emperor for going in a progressive direction and making it sound good. For me, Prometheus is almost as good as their legendary 90s albums. Oct 30, 2022

Behemoth deserves some kind of award. First they become great at black metal, then just decide to make a death metal album better than most death metal bands. Also they're now maybe the 1st name to mention in blackened death metal. So much noiceness. Oct 29, 2022

I thought I would be waiting until next year, but here's Wraithlord again. For me, almost as great as his first album, and I recommend a closer look at this album cover. Oct 29, 2022

I haven't been listening to post-metal lately because sometimes it's hard to find what I like out of this vast sub-genre that can have so many different sounds. This awesome instrumental album reminded me there are lots of post artists I really love, and that I should listen to Mountainscape more. Oct 29, 2022

Yes it's just a 15 minute EP, but these three songs make me swoon & melt! This is the 2nd master-tier release by Tanvald this year. Oct 29, 2022
Cosmicism 100/100
Top tier symphonic element here, maybe on par with Epica. The slowest doomiest parts are more filled with adrenaline than most fast metal songs are. It's an amazing perfect blend of sub-genres, pretty close to funeral doom often. This artist is new to me, and they blew me away with this massively emotional album. Contender for Album of the Year. Great energy and genuine passion. Lena's charisma blasts through the speaker. After listening to Postmortem Pt. 1 so often for months, I finally heard the whole album, and thankfully many songs are close to that track's super high level. Also nothing's particularly bad, except the last track felt rather pointless. Anyway, respect to Infected Rain. Oct 28, 2022

Feel free to put this album on while with your grandma. A couple of negatives: sometimes a little too corny. Also, some drum transitions felt extremely trite to me. Positives: stellar singing and gratifying sounds in the recording, especially on the guitars. Not my kind of alternative metal, but it was fun to try something new. Oct 26, 2022

The Gotmoor guy's atmospheric project with the guy from Āter as well.. Really expert in the art of crafting songs, as you might expect from veterans such as these. It keeps the variety coming, and is full of nice & dangerous feelings as well as sad ones throughout. Recommended. Oct 26, 2022

Quite good album with a live feel to it. It's noticeably more stoner than doom. At some points, the vocals are performed in a way that drags down the quality a little. Not perfect, but worth a listen. Oct 26, 2022

It's impressive how filthy & grimy Belphegor's sound gets. I was listening to some happy music and I wanted to bring some balance to the mood. This heavy and infernal album worked perfectly. Oct 26, 2022

Extreme consistency from Draconian. These songs sounded good to me in the beginning and then totally ambushed me with blasts of melancholy. For decades now this group has been the world's #1 example of awesome beauty & the beast vocals, and all instrumentation is good too. Oct 26, 2022

This reminds me of the music in the Nether. There's a lot of ambient on this, sometimes almost dungeon synth. When the metal comes in it's not only ferocious but also unique, and gives the image of tunnels or mazes of hallways. I'll listen again, but maybe skip to the metal. Oct 25, 2022

Evil happiness. This album shows a thorough understanding of black metal's cornucopia. There's some symphonic here & there. Also, it gets rather thrash and sometimes heavy metal. Quite beautiful. Oct 25, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
