Good music from both artists, but both have better songs. I don't know much about Black Autumn yet, but Veldes has some top-tier material on his other releases. On this split, it's all good but I didn't reach ecstasy. Aug 30, 2022

Yes it's ambient black metal & doom, but it also hits you with some electronica. Enjoyable. Good, not great. Aug 30, 2022

Cold, evil, oldschool. What more do you want? You want Simon Smith who teaches you guitar on YouTube to play on this album? Well you get that too. I think it's rather Immortal in style, and the execution and songwriting are through the roof. Singing is rather croaky. Anyway, Immersed in Suffocating Snow is as awesome as the title sounds. Yes, very good. About equal to Profane. Aug 30, 2022

Soundwise it's great. For me, each song starts promising to get super powerful emotionally, but ends quickly without as much emotion as I was hoping for. In the end, it's good but many people gave me higher expectations. Aug 30, 2022

Bogged down and trudging. I respect how they achieved the sound they were going for 100%, but I didn't get really into it. Not bad though. Aug 30, 2022

I guess I was expecting a little less quality than their 2022 album, but Melancholy is maybe just the tiniest bit better, more or less equal. I love how this album focuses on the death metal element a lot, but suddenly gets rather progressive. It filled me with energy, and actually gave me a bit of an appetite. Aug 30, 2022

Good album, but I feel the last couple of songs aren't at the same high level as the rest of the album. The djent sound is thick and plainly awesome. Glad I gave it a try. Aug 30, 2022

My pick for the day. It's so many sub-genres of metal, but they're blended together perfectly and naturally. The dueling singing adds tons of drama, and the atmospheric guitar work knocks me flat. One Greek and one Swiss musician, and they have the best synergy. Aug 30, 2022

Extremely raw music. Haunting & even terrifying. If you know what this kind of insanely lo-fi stuff is like, you can decide if you're in the mood for it. If you're not familiar with raw, be forewarned; you might hate this with a passion or love it with one. Aug 29, 2022

It's so cold, and so heavy but while most artists would combine those 2 feelings in a dark and negative way, Lustre makes it uplifting using his unique musical sense. Aug 29, 2022

At the very deathy early section of this album I had doubts I was going to like it, but when it shifted into full-on doom all my doubts vanished. I really enjoyed it. Aug 29, 2022

Very good instruments, but kind of gets too crowded with vocals. Just the tiniest bits of black metal here. It sounds like progressive gothic metal to me. Anyway, it's cool but not my favorite from them. Aug 29, 2022

This album has that special something. It's huge & dramatic, and it has this perfect combination of very soft music and soul-burning heavy music. At some points it's a little folky and jazzy, but mostly progressive metal and rock with black metal and doom blended in. 2 female singers coordinate amazingly, and with clean vocals they even add some libido to the mix, which metal so often is missing. Starting in 2014, Violet Cold quickly made a deep and varied discography. Yet another great example of his style of post-black metal. Aug 28, 2022

This is good, somewhat lo-fi, atmospheric black metal. I'm tempted to give it a high rating due to howling wolves, but I'll resist. The cymbal crashes get really predictable. Still good though. Aug 26, 2022

This beautiful recording is a demo? OK fine, but it's great. There's a good amount of ambient on it, but it strikes a good balance with the black metal for me. Don't skip this one when trying Midnight Odyssey's discography. Aug 26, 2022

It's finally released! What a powerful and passionate album and maybe the recording work is the best so far for 2022. Stylistically, it's mostly straight black metal, but some songs dip into other types of black metal, including folk, atmospheric, & melancholic. There's definitely no raw on this one, with those perfectly resonating instruments and vocals. Very close to a perfect score for me. Expectations were high, but remember it's just his 1st album, and it's this amazing. Aug 26, 2022

Very heavy album, which might surprise some because it's also post. Some songs are really angry, and others are melancholic. A strong point is how it sticks to a theme. Also, it's very cathartic and has big climaxes. Aug 24, 2022

Definitely all good music, though I feel the 2nd half of the album is far superior to the first, because that's where the guitar starts getting bluesier and heavier which makes for some riffs that really get me excited. Also, Heart-Shaped Glasses is a true masterpiece in everything from the melody, lyrics, performance, production, and more. 11 songs at that level would make it a 100. Aug 24, 2022

First of all, that album cover is absolutely hilarious. I had a great time listening to the album and was happy to start right back at track 1. Strongly recommended. Aug 24, 2022

Still good albums from the legends of power metal, and that's a very inspiring fact. The whole album is good, but I don't really love any song as much as Skyfall, so it's easy to see why they chose that as a single. Anyway, good feelings for an hour and 20 minutes. Thank you Helloween. Aug 24, 2022

Seeing how divided our opinions are on this, I guessed I was going to be in the middle. Absolutely not. This is a great album. The djent is pure fire, and I can hear motivation and emotion in every song. Respect to the Meshuggah guys for making this album. Aug 24, 2022

It's harsher and angrier and less atmospheric than De doden hebben het goed #1, so I find using the same title a little strange. Anyway, it's very enjoyable, well played, and passionate. Aug 24, 2022

Wow, I loved this one. A+++ for the album cover. And the kind of feelings in this album are exactly like floating in that gray sky. Aug 24, 2022

Very good atmospheric. Also, some songs venture into other types of black metal, such as old school and melodic, and those are very good too. With the last track, they end with some of the catchiest black metal you'll ever hear. They have better albums, but this one is nipping at the heels of the others. Aug 24, 2022

Truly great composition moments are spread throughout this album. For me, the vocal style is a bit of a weak part. It doesn't bother me much though. The title track is pure gold. Also, the sound is delectable. Aug 24, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
