Is it one of Slayer's weakest albums? Sure. is it still phenomenal to me? You bet! Some of these songs are seriously dark, even for Slayer, creating a very moody yet modern sound here. Some of the songwriting here is super interesting. The band mixes melodies and chord progressions that sound happy or uplifting, but then add some dissonant... er, harmonies on top that just make it sound unnerving. Very unique stuff. To me, this was a huge step down in Morbid Angel's riff crafting ability. These songs just don't have the same hooks as before. It's all quite brutal, but not memorable. Metallica have always been good at covers, and here they display that quite well. Unfortunately, there's just too much mediocre material here. Not quite Metallica's fault, just that they chose to cover some... boring or mediocre songs. But almost every song here is at least on par with the original.   Jan 26, 2024

아무래도 이 1집에서는 많은 이들이 Sweet Child o' Mine을 꼽겠지만, 내게 있어서 이 앨범 최고의 곡은 절대적으로 Nightrain이다. 밴드의 정체성, 색깔, 연주력 등을 한 번에 대변해주는 곡이랄까. 심지어 가사까지 말이다. 같이 늙어간다는 말이 어울리겠지만, 그때의 열정 속에서 Nightrain을 외치고 연주를 하던 그들의 모습은 정말로 젊음의 영웅이자 양아치였다.   Mar 19, 2025

The "Ram It Down" is a very underrated album, but in 1988 in the german Metal Hammer looked like a new classic by the soundcheck.Otherwise the "Ram it Down" and the "Hard As Iron"(with thundering riff) are great fast classic Priest songs.
