Absolutely, positively, entirely not Doom Metal, and that mislabel annoys me. Rather generic Stoner with Trad Doom influence here and there, not bad but not a memorable moment on it. Jul 12, 2024

Better than the past few they've done, but it still falls into entirely generic and shallow Groove/Hardcore. Jul 12, 2024

A rather uneventful and unimpressive debut from the band, but it's serviceable enough if you're in the need for some slightly folky, traditional Heavy Metal riffs. Jul 12, 2024

For the most part, it's filled with mediocre Metalcore. However, it ends on two tracks of horrendous industrial noise droning that totals almost a half hour. Unforgivable way to close out the album. Jul 12, 2024

More good Gothic Metal from Darkseed, but it's definitely starting to lag behind their previous works. A little too light and bouncy at times for me. Jul 11, 2024

Epic and full of energy, yet still doomy and sombre. Lovely combination. Jul 11, 2024

Interestingly enough, I find this to be one of my favorite Danzig albums. The mood here is palpable, with doomy opener Five Finger Crawl setting the stage perfectly. Still... it's inconsistent, and falls into meandering or tough-guy rock too often. Jul 11, 2024

The Crown continue delivering a unique brand of Melodeath with elements of Black Metal, regular Death Metal and even some Metalcore influence. Not as good as previous releases, but still a strong effort. Jul 11, 2024

One of those albums that has great songs on it, broken up by pointless, terrible interludes that ruin the front to back listening experience. Not sure why bands do this. Jul 11, 2024

Definitely one of if not the most mediocre album Candlemass ever crafted. Still, it's not bad, and starts quite strong. Jul 11, 2024

The band got really weird here. Nothing resembling Metal, instead this is all Electronic. Now, if it were good Electronic music, that would be fine, but unfortunately it sucks. Jul 11, 2024

Great singular piece of Funeral Doom, almost on par with their debut. Jul 11, 2024

This one has some moments that are quite good, but overall, is still unfocused, chaotic and noisy without building much atmosphere. Jul 11, 2024

Never cared for the band's style of ugly, Stoner-influenced Sludge Metal, and this EP doesn't change anything. Jul 11, 2024

Collection of some of Graveland's best material, very good Black Metal here. Two lengthy, solid tracks. Jul 11, 2024

Some covers, preformed well enough, but none of them are memorable. Jul 11, 2024

Quite boring Drone Sludge. Nothing interesting going on here. Jul 11, 2024

Short trio of covers. They aren't bad, just not outstanding in any way. Jul 11, 2024

Very impressive for a demo, and it already has most elements of the style Insomnium would retain throughout their career. It mostly just misses the fantastic emphasis on mood and emotion they would later ace. Jul 11, 2024

Not bad for a Grindcore debut. The vocal delivery is weak. But some of the music is pretty good. Very dark stuff. Jan 27, 2024

No clue how this is rated so high. Yngwie wanking the guitar even more than usual over the most generic classical compositions we've all heard hundreds of times. Jan 27, 2024

The opening track left me speechless. True passionate heartbreak Doom. This is how it should be. The other songs are great, but that opener is in a league of it's own, among all music. Jan 27, 2024

Can't go wrong with this era of Virgin Steele. Every song, great riffs, passionate vocals, and now, even very aggressive drumming. Great mix of Power Metal with more traditional USPM, and symphonic touches for good measure. Jan 27, 2024

Symphonic Gothic Doom, great stuff in every way! Guitars have a weird tone and are mixed poorly, but everything else is magnificent. Jan 27, 2024

Cheesy as all hell, melodramatic in all the right ways, saccharine sweet with a wave of sentimental melancholia. The perfect Christmas record! Jan 27, 2024

Strong, if not standard, Viking Metal. Plenty of energy and still retaining Blackened influence. Jan 27, 2024

Threshold were never the most unique Prog Metal band, but here they fall to just average. Music has little energy, few hooks. Some strong compositions, especially the closer "Sunrise on Mars," but most of this is pretty forgettable. Jan 26, 2024

This one took a while to grow on me. Wasn't convinced due to how boring the guitars and drums are - but the band makes up for it with fantastic synth/piano leads, atmospherics, and vocal duets. Jan 26, 2024

Fantastic 90's Thrash! This band mixes Slayer-esque riffs and aggressive drumming, some Melodeath leads, and Groove vocals. It all works nicely. Jan 26, 2024

Yet another 90's Gothic Doom band going non Metal. They make it work for the most part, songs being atmospherically pleasant, emotional, catchy, and layered. I still much prefer their Gothic Metal style. Jan 26, 2024

3 days ago

Great classic album with incredible songs like "The Evil That Men do","Moonchild" or "The Clairvoyant". Mar 4, 2025

Mar 10, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

Very good album by Dream Theater. As always Mar 4, 2025

The "Ram It Down" is a very underrated album, but in 1988 in the german Metal Hammer looked like a new classic by the soundcheck.Otherwise the "Ram it Down" and the "Hard As Iron"(with thundering riff) are great fast classic Priest songs. All in all i think only the "Love Zone" is the only one problematic song and the Lp is great.. Mar 8, 2025
